Ugh I read that one, I'm so sick of people saying that he was meant to die from the start EVEN when we explain to them that the ROMANCED Thane story arc should have been different because shepard should have made an effort to at least try and save him! Especially when cures and treatments were hinted to by bioware themselves.

Wasn't there something in the old leaked script where Shepard had to choose between the death of Liara and the VS? Couldn't you have argued in that case that the situation would have been unavoidable because it would have made the story more interesting and 'death happens' and 'sacrifices are made to save people', just like what happened on Virmire? But no, enough people protested that their LOVE INTERESTS were being sacrificed and Shepard didn't have a say in the matter, so they changed it. Even though can only have one LI at a time in one playthrough, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
But as soon as we complain that our LI has been horribly killed off when he didn't have to be, we just have to get over it.

Yes I just went and posted it and added after it...While I'm at it, I'm going to start crying because someone killed Garrus during the SM, that so totally ruined MY game.

...Wait, didn't Annie Wilkes want the ending changed because the favoured character died...

I just don't understand the logic with some of these people, it was supposed to be a game of choices. I don't like Liara, never have but I'm not out bashing those that love her to death, nor would I. What they do in their game does not affect mine. Anyway, had they humored us and there was a choice for Thane to live from the beginning, not one of them would be whining right now that he should have died. Truth be told, some of them would probably not even know if the "save" option was available to only romanced Thane. I want to smack them silly with their own stupidity.

Logic doesn't apply to these people because they are narrowminded and basically stupid. You're right, they probably would never know, until they tried to romance Thane. Then I would hope they facepalmed themselves with a brick.

The writer killed off the character Misery in the series as a means to end the series and move on to something new. Annie didn't like that, apparently she didn't like that he killed off the main character.

I would say we are not like her in every little detail. We are not demanding that Thane be brought back to life in a believable way and that's the only way it should be. We still want a choice, he can live or he can die. Annie didn't want a choice, it was alive or else.

Some people just won't be satisfied until everyone thinks the same way as them. That's the only explanation I can think of for being so against something that doesn't effect their own game in the slightest. They want everybody to have the same point of view on Thane's death as they do and they can't stand the thought that someone else's choice will somehow diminish the "deepness" of their own.

Oh I know. I just thought it was a bit, well funny. Wonder how long it took her to google that?

That's what is making me crazy. Why does the idea of choice bother so many people. If it's in my game, what does it matter. It doesn't affect their game at all.

Then no wonder I don't like them.  I have no use for sheep.  I am drawn to the different, the unique, and I would prefer people around me that didn't agree with every opinion I had.  That to me is boring.

@utaker...you better start having bad ideas then, because I've agreed with everything so far. :)

But I understand where you're coming from.

It's very annoying but I guess they think that just having the choice to cure Thane makes his death in their game less meaningful. It's even more annoying because, for alot of us, Thane's death isn't even the biggest problem.

What really gets me about people is that they can't seem to understand the difference between non-interactive entertainment (films and books) and interactive entertainment (games, especially RPGs). When reading a book/watching a film we have no expectations that we can change the outcome, we simply consume what is served to us. In Mass Effect we have always had some agency in creating the story and expected that to continue into the final installment...

Sorry for ranting to the choir but ...grrr

I seem to be out of time with most of you, but its always nice to get up and catch up on all the chat and smut over breakfast. :D

that posting of a thane picture on bioware was really suprising and i'm confused what they want us to tell with it...
i hope for the best, but i have to say, that my hopes became small. Hope PAX will bring us new cognitions.
was there any interessting und twitter while i was offline for 2 days

and yes, it annoys me, it really does. This "why are you yelling about it, a cure is unlogical" and did not listen. a rpg is to change the game as you want and you should chose what is unlogical. *sigh* geht some of these post and got mad about it. i cant understand it.

Hmm,got up the guts to post on this thread again after seeing the picture of Thane put up on Bioware...I'm confused. Are they trying to hint something maybe?..Of all the characters they could've chosen..why Thane? Why not a picture of Shepard,or Liara,or even Wrex would've made more sense. They're going to be discussing ME3 at PAX...but Thane had the least face-time of all the characters in the game.so why use his picture?Does anyone else think there may be something more planned for him? After all,Patrick Weekes DID say they dropped the ball on Thane.Something to think about I guess.

^I've heard a few other people say this also..If it turns out Biowares just yanking our chains to get more attention, they're even more cruel than I initially thought.I'm really anxious to hear what they have to say at PAX now.

You know, they are probably doing just that. I didn't think Bioware could break my heart any more than they already have, but this would just be the icing on the cake. :crying:

you know, i really, really hope it is not, because this will hurt...but really they gave us no more information and i'm not quite sure why they uses a pic out of the artbook...
just kind of weird all of it...

has someone twittert to bioware and aks them why? maybe we will get any further information. but if it was calcio, then it was (for them) great, because it totally works. the whole community is puzzeling about it, because thane was not expected
