I hear ya. It's hard to have a conversation with someone like that.

Not everyone is as nice as the group of people here on the Thane threads. :( Would be pretty cool if they were though. :)

it really is...
it is a pitty. even a lot of bioware "fans" seems not to be as tolerant as we are. o.o
me for example (and i just speak for myself) actually don't like jacob that much, but i will support every jacobmancer because his romance was as horrible as thanes and i can understand their pain.

i'm really glad, that i've joined this thread:D

I've noticed the tolerance issue as well.  It's the main reason why I don't post on other threads here on the forum.  :(

I didn't really care for Jacob either, at least in the romance department, but I feel bad for the people that did romance him.  Major support for the ME2 romances in general.

Glad you stopped by and started posting here too.  I enjoy reading your posts.  :D

yeah excactly how it is for me. every me2 LI deserve a better plot. even jacob ^-^ just thought when i saw his romance on youtube: what? is this really jacob? he yell at shepard? oh gosh...

thanks :)
i love all of your posts, it's nice to meet "soulmates" i just thought i'm the only one so much fallen for thane, but sometimes in here i just thought: ähm...maybe i'm more harmless than i thought ;)
just kidding ;) i love ya all for your post, really helped me...
not to get over, it's the wrong term... maybe i can say to handle his destiny in the game.

so i just want to use the time to thank ya all for the support, for understanding, listening and complaining together. ^_^ <3
it really helped me and enjoy the time in here :)

I cannot respond to the "I don't get the Thane thing" thread going on over in Story and Campaign, I've sat here and tried to find a rather polite and nice way to explain the issue but it's already been done and they still don't get it. I do not have the mental capacity or tact to deal with those whose brains have been filled with concrete. Even if you state your case and they half agree, it's followed with,"u went for a dying man" that is the universal response to "yes, we see your point but we are too arrogant to realize we may have been wrong in our assumptions."

I do like the "it's war, some need to die and Thane makes sense" arguers. I like when they throw Mordin in there and that's easily rebutted with, "he can be saved if you do this" and STILL in knowing that his death is avoidable not one of them flipping say, "Well now that I know he can be saved, my game is ruined and his character is now lessened" but OH EFFING NO, the very idea Thane could be saved is a game ruiner for them. Just like try telling them that the same logic can be applied to Mordin, he admits he's old for a Salarian and doesn't have much time left (just as Thane admits he's close to death) but it's ok for Mordin to have a chance to live but not Thane. Knowing Mordin can live did NOT change the fact in the two times I played this god awful piece of crap, I cried my eyes out.

Well I can't get the point of some complaints too, but I would never ever step anywhere and harm the people. That shouldn't be the way I think.... If they want a DLC for Kaidan or Liara I am fine with it. I don't have to buy it so the people should go on and tell they want one. I think the forgotton LIs should be first, but IF we should get a DLC it would even be OK for me to wait. No problem. So I can't understand why they fighting us if we really say: Change nothing in game. Just give us this DLC. We have heavy reasons for this. They just don't need to buy it? So? Were is the problem at all? Just complaining the complaints? I don't get it....:crying:

*hug*
same here...
it seems like they think we're just crazy because for them he is destinied to die.
no one seemed to romance him...
because if they would, the wont say this.
thane is so much more...
a friend, a good companion , a adviser.
it seem that he is the kind of chara who help shepard to handle all of pressure...
garrus does it in another way, but thane goes deep into my sou
and i cant understand why we fans did not stick together, try to understand each other and so on. :(
some of them on the PAX blog yelled at me, that thane is irrelevant in look of the endings.
and i just said: i was not going that the endinds are well or anyway, i just said that this is not the place for this discussion.

They have decided that their way of thinking REALLY is the ONLY way of thinking.  Somewhere in their Mountain Dew, Hot-Pocket addled brains, they KNOW you are making valid arguements, but they will never admit it.  Maybe it's because they were never taught how to be humble, or that others may have opinions that differ from theirs, but are just as valid.  Or maybe it's because they love that Michael Bay style cinematics (can't get enough of them, blah, blah, blah....) and just like seeing him go out like a "boss" (blech and barf) even if it is poorly written, and character immersion breaking for others.  Whatever the case, pandering to these mouth breathers is the actual "dumbing down" of this game.

Oh we got a group here:
http://social.bioware.com/group/7093/

For question - feel free to ask me, since I brought up the idea and I am organising this thing :) The group should explain the most things I think :) Short: we will do a self made book with arts/fanfiction/letters/whatever about Thane and why we want him back and send this to Bioware. At the end of April or something like that :) Feel free to ask and of course to join :)

I love free advertising. Thanks to everyone who kept chiming in with me.

debating must have been learned and most people don't get this teaching.
in my family we're always discussion and so i've learned to respect every opinion and think about it.
i don't have to be mine, i know, but i often accept every other opinion, because that is, what it is, just an opinion

For god's sake, I am so tired of seeing people write that Thane's disease defines him and that anything else but death would have been wrong.

Most of them can't seem to be bothered to actually read people's counter arguements and just go "Thane had the coolest death in ME3, why are you whining" or "Thane should die in ME3 because he is dying" or "Nothing said that Thane would get cured" and "suit yourself for romancing a dying man."

I mean, fine, people have their opinions but it's really starting to ****** me off how some simply don't care about his screwed up romance, his broken character, the blatantly rushed fighting scene with Kai Leng. It's all fine as long as it's not your favourite LI/character being treated unfairly/dying.

If it wasn't because I want to know what they are going to do with the endings, I'd leave this forum ages ago because it just saddens me to see this all the time.

I will seriously not EVER forgive Bioware for what they did to Thane in ME3.

Sorry, but I am currently very angry about this. Again. >.<

Hey guys! Quick question: I have yet to import my Liara/Thane romance into ME3. When I do, will I be able to get the kiss scene with Thane and still romance Liara? I wish I could just romance Thane but as we know, his romance was cut dreadfully short :/

Awww...the puppy eyes. My Shep fell for those right along with the lips, the thighs, his voice, and even the way he talked.

But before I get lost in those thoughts, there is one other thing that has bugged me about his hospital meeting. That cough he does when he's talking about his disease (yay, that again), it seemed fake and thrown in there for realism sake. It didn't make it real for me. What I thought was, "oh c'mon, you guys are professionals, my 10 year old can belt out a more convincing fake cough when she's trying to avoid school AND she will insert them appropriately."

I would imagine so since the powers that be didn't consider Thane's romance was a real one.  He didn't count for us and every person alive hit on Shepard after he died.  I did just romance Thane, he may not have counted in BW's eyes but he did in mine and thus the empty spot in my achievement slot...kind of like the empty spot in my heart where BW stabbed me with a hot poker.

I hope you find satisfaction with the Liara romance, I really do.  Everyone deserves some kind of resolution or happiness.

Ya know, this vicious cycle of depression I have, over the lack of love for Thane by bw and some of these formunites.  I would argue that these people who go out of their way to bash us wanting a different choice for Thane in the ME series (especially when based on a Romanced Thane), just because they want angsty melodrama in their video game and what they say matters more, didn't really like Thane as a character.  Image IPB

Who wants ANY loved character dead.  Even if the storyline heads down that path, they shouldn't actually wish for it even if said character still dies.  If they do, then that character isn't well loved or liked, they are then reduced to a story device; not a well developed character.  There is a difference between losing a beloved character, and thinking it's the ONLY thing that matters about said character.  This cheapens the character.  Image IPB
