My husband is watching a PAX stream or something at home and texting me updates (lol). He said that "The Team" lithograph (I am actually getting that pic framed at this very moment!) is hanging up with "Hope Dies Last" by it. He thinks maybe it is a sign for ME2 love. I can only hope.

I have a bad feeling that one of the things that contributed to the lackluster and disappointing ME2 relationships was them trying to resolve the issue of the fact that all those characters could die. I think they looked at those scenarios and decided they didn't want to "punish" new players who didn't have an import save or people who did have an import with certain squad members being dead.

I have said it before and I will say it again: SCREW NEW PLAYERS. If they're only NOW getting into the game after it's been around 5 years, then they pretty much deserve to be out of the loop. At the very most, they should be encouraged to get the first two games. I gave a friend of mine a very stern lecture about how she wants to play ME3 before the first two, and I told her in no uncertain terms that I would never, ever write another fanfiction for her ever again if she did. If you're going to play the games, play them the right way, in the order that they were meant to be played.

No, his romance was not handled well and while some like to think his role was fitting, I beg to differ. His role was fine for an acquaintance of Shepard's and nothing more. This is NOT the man who was crying in my Shep's cabin about his mortality and not being at peace with it. His whole role in ME3 was sloppily done and a disservice to his character progression and romance. I'm glad others are happy with it, we are not.

This right here burns at me.....from his letter.

"I once accepted my fate." Really? Shep gets this letter AFTER you die (really we all see it in LotSB but let's just say for giggles one is seeing it for the first time). He wrote this technically before the SM but BW is handing it to Shep now when he dies in ME3. So now it makes no damn sense and reeks of laziness. So, you are telling me in your final words to Shep that you ONCE accepted your fate, meaning you no longer accept it? I find that quite odd because in the first meeting on the Citadel, you are accepting it. BW, make up your mind. Does he accept dying or not?

"The expectation to move swiftly to my end vanished upon uniting with your cause."---Ok, once he joins Shep's cause his belief on dying quickly goes away. If one doesn't want to believe in dying quickly for whatever reason means there must be a reason for wanting to live longer. Didn't see this Thane in ME3. Where did he go? Oh yeah, into the black abyss of sloppy writing.

"You awoke me, Shepard. My heart quickened its sluggish beat if only to remain at your side and protect you with everything that I am."--- Now this is just a slap in the face. Shep asked him to join the Normandy and he didn't want too because he felt he wouldn't be of any use to her and well, Kolyat. I can excuse the Kolyat reason but I don't see him real flippin' eager to protect her unless she is in danger of being mauled by medical equipment.

"I love you. "--- Oh the pain. Shep couldn't even muster the same to him. He was taking his last breath's and she couldn't even say those three words to him. /kamikaze faceplant. Sadism at it's finest folks. BW gives Thane a disease, a crappy past and then allows him to fall in love. Sprinkles in hopes of a treatment or cure, then comes ME3. Makes him happy to die, Shepard appearing like a horny teenager, and then he dies as a result of a wound obtained by the worst assassin I've ever seen. Even Zevran and his "Below the Belt" move is more impressive. Then we get stone face Shep at his death bed, not one tear, no I love you, and then everyone forgets about him (except troll Leng). What a hard kick in the balls to Thane. I feel for him I really do.

"Selfishly, however, I could not leave this world without leaving a piece of me behind that would never fade." (the letter) and "It seems there will be no one to mourn me when I die" from his conversation in ME2. The fact that he was forgotten and seeing those statements together makes me want to cry harder than I already have. Glad you left the letter Thane, otherwise my Shep was written to forget you immediately. This way, she could be forced to remember you and then you can be deemed not important again. I think I just died again...sigh.

This is one of the best breakdowns of the LotSB letter.  Very well done.

I was thinking this morning on the line that he says.....(and I am probably going to screw it up; forgive me) while at the hospital.  Something along the lines of, "I think on you often, but we both knew this would end."  This is one of the most nonsensical lines he makes.  The LotSB letter has him thinking of her more than just often; he actually says 'I love you'!! He also talks in the letter of staying by her side and fighting for/with her.  Again, his line in the Hospital contradicts the letter, AND the romance arc from ME2.  Both of these are written by BW, right...???  They didn't just hand this over to some Temp Agency writer or  group of interns, did they??  And it kills me even more, based on how he is portrayed in me3, (the above line being an example) that they would then recycle the LotSB letter......did they not stop to consider how "literally" out of character they just "proved" they made Thane in me3?!?!?  Ugh.....such a waste.

BTW - I love the 'Below the Belt' move in DAO....seriously.....it's a favorite of mine especially when I play a rouge, and haul Zev with me everywhere.  To little assassins kicking baddies in the shin.....FTW!!Image IPBImage IPB

but i was also starting with me2, just because i loved dragon age and wanted to play the other game from bioware.
i just had a ps3 at this moment, so i have to start with it, because me1 was not avaiable, and just because i brought a second handed one i did not even had genesis, so that i had completly no idea about the universe and first play trhough i found it quite of...well boring (i could blame me for that) because i always mixed renegade and paragon.

then i started a new one and the flash beginns. but as you see it like this, i was also a new player (well i acutally have playes me1-3 on pc right now xD)

LOL...I always play a rogue dalish elf in DA:O and take Zev with me everywhere. Sometimes for added fun he is the ONLY person I take with me. I have a screen shot I took some place where I managed to catch them both landing Below the Belt at the same time on a Shriek.

I hate that line he delivers in the hospital, I want to reach out and backhand him when he says that. Really? We both did not know it would end, my Shep still had hope. One of the few times I've actually felt the need to hurt him. The other times being when I have one last shot in my widow, I pull the trigger and see a green head in my scope. Then he has the nerve to scold my Shep. Hey, I'm NOT the one who just moved in front of me.

I just wanted to grab him by his collar and drag him out of that hospital. Shep would have knocked him out if necessary. The Thane that made my Shep happy disappeared. She always wanted to talk to him and this time around...not so much, he depressed her. If that was their intention to make us choose someone else because he was such a downer and out of character, it failed on my end. It made we want to save him not abandon him.

But then sometimes I try to crawl into his head. Yes, he was talking to Kolyat but he started waking up before that because of Shepard. He loved her. Just how saddened did he become when they were separated? How did he feel all those months wondering where she was, what she was doing, why weren't his messages going through? If they were, was she ignoring him? Did he find love only for it be quickly snatched away from him? Would he still be alive when she left Earth? When Earth was hit, did she survive? I imagine after awhile those kinds of thoughts wore on him. Did he finally just accept his death because he was already down and figured it would be easier to make peace than die with so much turmoil in his mind. Who knows, I blame BioWare.

Yep, they tweeted that response some time ago, but I don't remember to who. Maybe it is nothing, but I really really hope it's not just an empty statement.

Interesting analysis of possibilities....without context on either HOW Shep came to be in Alliance custody (I would at least assume that Thane was present for this.....doesn't make sense any other way....seriously), or how much info he was fed in regards to both her incarciration and the attack on Earth, his lines of dialogue are still nonsensical.  Even his letter, as you so brilliantly wrote about, shows a willingness to want to fight.  Maybe at the point he wrote it he still didn't know how he could extend/cure his life, this much is true, but a desire for it is indicated.  Then add the romance arc (even just a friendship arc with a successful LM), and this man has reason to fight EVEN if he doesn't know exactly what is going on with Shepard.  A chance to try and help save the Galaxy for his son, a chance to spend time with him (Kolyat), and another chance at love and friendship that he hasn't had in a decade.  Good reasons to fight, eh??

Side note: I love playing rogue in DAO.  5 Rogues, 2 Warriors, one Mage.  I have one city elf, 2 Dalish elves, one dwarf, and the rest human.  I also will drag Zev alone on quests (I do the same thing with Ali as well, sometimes).  But I love the banter between Zev, Alistair and Shale.......pure gold!Image IPB

It was to someone named Pip-falcon. She was trying to help out with the PAX letters thing, but we lost contact. I would like to believe it means something, because Thane is... missing, right now, and her tweet was specifically about Thane and if they had a soul they wouldn't give us any kind of hope at this point, not after how... definitive it seemed in ME3...

The "we knew this would end" line was just a punch in the gut. I was thinking "since when? no we did not know this! This is news to me and bad news at that." Did he mean we knew it would end when he died or we knew it was just a fling (which it definitely was not) and wouldn't last? I was really upset at that line. It felt like the the dialogue was trying to close the romance for you with no option to say NO THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT and steer you in another direction which I absolutely hated. There was a lot about the Thane romance (or lack thereof) that left you with no options to choose or put scripted words in Shepard's mouth that were not at all what I wanted to say. That small conversation felt as if it attempted to retcon Thane's romanced character progression and the romance itself in a single encounter. It was confusing and so disappointing.

agreed. Definately made me wince..I was like "NOo don't say such things!!" Then shepard was just indifferent for everything!  and went about her business.

ME2 Team and Hope dies last?  Please? ME2 love please! Drell...

"Hope dies last, have faith" That would be just evil if nothing comes of it. Twitter...evil twitterers..evil drop the ballers

and evil garrus..i just remembered that conversation he was having with Javik and that dude in the lounge about how the reapers turn enemies into their bad evil monkeys..and he says "imagine what they're doing to the blah blah, Drell and vorcha." wow garrus glad you at least know Drell as a species exsist..but you don't remember Thane...:crying:

I think I read on both the ME PAX thread and DA PAX thread, that the Manticore room (which is where the BW panel is), is NOT being recorded on twitch.  Could be wrong, but just thought I would pass on the info that I read on those threads.  Hopefully someone else is recording/taking notes while there, and will share with the class....Image IPB

Is there a schedule for what is going to be streamed? I think i saw that they have streaming for 2 different stages the Main Stage and the Naga theater...wonder if they'll go with bioware or not during the time slot:unsure:
Dragon age is on the main stage before mass effect..

Ah, well, it was worth a try I guess. Even so, I have friends keeping an eye out to see if there's anything that can be gained from it.

Having a poster with the ME2 team that says "Hope Dies Last" is either an unintential troll on their part, or they might actually say something.  Once again:
