When I picked my daughter up from preschool yesterday (she's 5) she said she had drawn a picture for me. She said she knew that I was unhappy at my game because Shepard lost her best friend, so she drew a picture of Thane for me.

The screenshot of him in front of the window at Huerta's absolutely makes me cry....no joke just started crying. Probably didn't help that I was just at a hospital this morning, and on my way out, I saw this cute little old man, standing in front of one of the windows, just staring out. Now he very well could have had visitors earlier, or some coming later in the day, but it still gave me pause. If I hadn't been in the process of getting the car for my father-in-law to be wheeled to, I would have said hello. (yes, I'm one of those people.......)

This is one of the reasons I can't finish this game. The "interupt" kiss, cuts off the lines regarding Thane spending any time with Kolyat, and we never actually see anyone visiting with him.......so he just sits there; alone. It is horribly depressing to me, and not poignant, or bittersweet, or moving in any way.......it's rubbish......depressing as hell......and I hate seeing it.

BTW; please don't think I am admonishing anyone for posting that screenshot. Just stating how I react to those scenes of him in the Hospital.

I think it will allow fans of a particular LI to get really into just what they like about that character. I understand completely and I feel the same way. Every time I visited that hospital I'd stop to talk to him hoping for more dialogue. Only there never was unless you count him saying he's "flattered" Shep stopped by to see him. What was with that line, anyway? It was like my Shep was a fond acquaintance, not someone he had a relationship with.

It felt awful seeing him there by himself. If he'd had more conversations, it would have been so nice if Shepard could see him talking to Kolyat at some point.

There was very little dialog and yeah, flattered?  After everything that happens between my femshep and Thane?  Even with the femshep that didn't romance him, why would he be flattered?  And thanks for bring this up, where was Kolyat?????  Why no dialog with him or with both of them, or about him... or just more dialog?  I suppose it would be hard to be losing your father but I think it was a missed opportunity that should have allowed us to take on another crew member.  Or use him as a temporary crew member to help cure his father.

Flattered...LOL...Reminds me of Zevran when bantering with Morrigan.  "It is flattery only if I exaggerate the truth to please you."  Which now, makes my Shep feel like crap.  Probably well deserved for the way she behaved earlier. Thane:  Stopping by again, Shepard?  I'm flattered.     I don't know if I should laugh, cry, or both at that.

I would have liked a little more interaction with Kolyat.  Maybe Cameron wanted to apologize for smacking him in the face.  I would welcome Kolyat aboard the Normandy but what I would never do is put a gun in his hand and ask him to kill.  He can if it's self defense but I didn't go on Thane's loyalty mission so I could later on hand Kolyat a gun and say, "shoot".  Which is what I would be doing if he were a squadmate, I have enough people on board that can put their asses in danger to shoot at things.   If it were on a mission to help his father, well he can go talk to his father about whether or not it's a good idea.  Let them battle it out, for once, my Shep wants no part of that decision.

@PhoenixDove1 I agree! That "flattered" dialogue was too impersonal if Shepard was in a relationship with him (even for just friends). You can tell they didn't put much thought into the interactions with Thane, what little there was. I would have loved to get a chance to talk to Kolyat or to ask Thane about him. It bothered me that during Thane's death Kolyat acts like Shepard doesn't know or remember him! He was her love's son and she stopped him from assassinating someone - of course she remembered him! Beyond that, you can't talk to Kolyat at all and there's no way to find out what happens to him.

I agree about Kolyat - the whole point of Thane's loyalty mission was to keep him from going down that sort of path. I don't think Thane would be happy knowing his son is on the crew. Plus, I doubt Kolyat even has the skills for it. He wasn't trained in combat from the age of six like his father was. I'm not sure he has any training, period.

Let's do the exact opposite of what the dead guy ( ) wants for his son! O_O

I would very much love to have Kolyat as a temporary squaddie/Normandy crewmember (not a guy in the line of fire, or anything like that. But like an additional guide/help/informant/etc for Kahje or Rakhana or whereever.) for the I-pray-it-happens cure DLC. I wouldn't really want to take Thane off of the Normandy (he better leave Huerta though :c) Thane would surely be all like, "Nooo protect him, keep him with the priests, etcetc". But I think Kolyat would want/demand to help Shep try and cure Thane in his own way, especially after learning about the blood transfusion. And maybe we'd finally learn more about him, even if it was just through a few more conversations and not an all out combat mission. (where he probably couldn't shoot.)

On that note, I was hoping to see more of the drell and hanar. I always wondered about how close Thane got with his contractors, especially his master/trainer. I thought maybe he'd say something about that hanar again. Want to visit it/him/her or send a letter or reminisce or something. Maybe I just read way too far into their relationship. xDD

If you're using Firefox (and maybe Chrome):

I can't listen to it or anything from Tumblr when I'm using Firefox. It never shows up as clickable.

But when I open up a new window with Internet Explorer and insert the link, it becomes a button and I can listen to it fine.
