Hey guys, I never fully romanced Thane, but I was completely appalled when I found out BW "forgot" he was a romance, and I think the treatment in ME3 is almost criminal. I would like to have a banner in my sig that expresses this. Which one do you think I should use to most get the point across?

Hey kglaser, thanks for the support.  Huge Garrus fan as well....in ME2 I always had Thane and Garrus with me.  They were the best team.  I don't have a link to the banners (though you might check out the first couple pages here.....some of them may have been posted there.), but most people here have no problem with you snagging them from our signatures.  Mine is in .gif form, so unsure if that will cause a problem, but you are welcome to give it a try.

Hopefully someone else will drop by and give you a copy or link.....again, thank you for the support!Image IPBImage IPB

I frequent a few fan threads. I never was a "ONE ROMANCE, ONLY THAT ONE" person. I struggle to have a 'canon' Shepard. I'm fond of most of the characters and romances... And most of all 3 games. Which is why the odd stuff grates my cheese. Thane was ballstothewalls fabulous in 2. No way around that. He was pretty amazing and pretty advertised and pretty developed. So it's ... off.

Not just from a romance, though certainly there it's lacking. And I really, really hope they do decide to do an extension for characters DLC. Headcanon only goes so far, and most of my Shepards are friends (or more) with Thane. Him dying without a reaction from the crew or Shep is... so damn jarring.

I've romanced everyone with FemShep, and Ashley with my ManShep. XD

I have waaaaaaay too many characters. I love all the romances, but Thane is my favorite.

At this point, I don't think I'd be happy with just more interaction. I'm too bitter and pissed. I want a cure to satisfy me now!

Do you think that’s one of the reasons for some of the rude responses? I found that for the some “one LI” people, as long as they get theirs they don’t care about anyone else.
When asked “well, what if what happened to Thane or Jacob happened to your LI?” they refuse to entertain the idea since “It didn’t happen to mine anyway so what’s there to think about!” Or they do and agree “yeah it would be terrible” but go right back to ignoring us.

I mean I have my favourite but I appreciate other characters enough that I care what happens to them, or even if I don’t like them I still can empathise with others if they get mistreated. In fact I was saddened by the fact I enjoyed my Garrus romance so much because I thought “I wanted all the thanmancers to feel this way too” . Sure my favourite got spoilt but that doesn’t make me happy if it means it was at the expense of other characters.

Some rude responses remind me of the *me* i was at 14 (grew up as an overprotected only child) before someone i cared about a lot shook my worldview by letting me know in no uncertain terms that the world did not revolve around my special self :P, and that i very much needed to try and see things from other peoples perspective. I'm guessing that *some* of those responses come from people who never really had to learn that.

Then i'm sure there are also people out there who are worried that any resources sent our way will take away from the ending fix.

Just my opinion though.

I've been pointing that out a lot lately. Like in the "Did the romances take a step back" thread, someone said, Thane was great as a friendship, terrible as a LI, but I got my Ashley so I'm happy.

I told him, I felt that exact same way for Ashley, but I care that she was missing in ME 2 and got cut stuff from ME3. I wanted to add that he should widen his view a bit but I figured that'd be too inflammatory ;)

Maybe I'm being crabby. but one dialogue, a deathbed sequence, and no aftermath/reaction is a long way from a great friendship.

I think you both hit the nail on the head, in most cases.  The funny thing about the endings though.....I think BW has made their stand (for better or worse) when it comes to the endings.  The extention DLC that comes out this summer, I think is it.  It may be (as myself and others have speculated before) that they had already started projects that reflect these current endings, and it would cost too much money and time to scrap/redesign said projects AND make new endings to boot.  So, if this IS the case, then "resources being taken away from changing the ending" becomes a moot point.

I also notice that a lot of people who think what we got was good enough, are also those that tend to play these games for the combat and at best, the overarching storyline.  The story RPGing (that I am drawn to most....not great at shooters, so roleplaying is where it's at for me) was where corners were cut...or better yet, blown to smithereens in some cases.Image IPB

@RShara - That is exactly where my head is at as well.......too bitter for anything but a cure or life extention with hints of a cure that we can leave to our own imaginations if need be.

As for romancing other LI's.......I have abused saves from a few of my characters to "try out" other LI's.  Did this with Jacob (Image IPBwhat da hell did my Shep just say......Image IPB), with Garrus (very cute, but just wasn't feeling the romance), and have also done a Kaidan romance in ME1 (she will end up with Thane in ME2 once imported).  But in the end, Thane wins!  Can't help it.Image IPB

For my m!Sheps I have a Liara romance, Miranda, Tali (very first run; screwed up the Miri romance, but really wanted to get with Samara.....that didn't happenImage IPB, so ended up with Tali), and I have a Ash/Jack run I am still sitting on waiting to finish.  I love having all these choices, and I wouldn't want it any other way.  Just wish everyone could see that, and fight for content of ALL the LI's.

Yup, I'm going to do whatever I can to encourage BW release DLC that expands on the neglected LIs with missions that will appeal to a wide audience.  To win back my loyalty any such DLC must include the option to save Thane, it's not negotiable, without that option, I will not buy any ME DLC, nor will I buy any future ME titles, the franchise will be dead to me.

I've never romanced Thane as I'm not that into frogs. *dodges brick*
Still I have been increasingly annoyed as I've observed this whole mess. Personally I figured BioWare would do something like this and was trolling Thane fans all along, but it gives me no pleasure to be proved right.

One argument that really gets me is that Thane has to die for narrative purposes, and I think that's rubbish.
I could say the same for Miranda, and yet the option to save her is there. I see no reason why Thane must die to the cereal assassin. Hell, the wound isn't even fatal by itself.

So yeah while it doesn't affect me directly, as a staunch FemShep player I support this..

Thanks so much Angry One!  I've read a lot of your posts and always am impressed with what you say.
And yeah, the "Thane had to die beause his living would have broken his character," and "You knew he was going to die," arguments ****** me off too.

*PDS attempts (pathetically) to throw a brick...(ok, it's actually the Blood Dragon Helmet...worthless POS...pppbbbttt) at Angry One...........Of course she does this while dressed in a badly dyed green dress, green paint in her hair, and the head of one Kermit the Frog tied around her neck like a talisman.*
*Thane in Hallucination Form pinches the bridge of his nose.* "Put your back into it, Siha.  This is embarrassing."

I think most of us have a genuinely good sense of humor about our Shepards and Thane (still think that 'frog' is sexy....mmmmmm).  Thank you for putting your well trained voice to our little thread.  It is much appreciated....Chocolate?......Booze?.......Booze IN chocolate?Image IPB

Thank you, and yeah I make Thane-frog jokes but despite not romancing him I do really like him.

I thought his death scene very well done and emotional, but when I found out that there wasn't even a change for Sheps who had him as LI, I was like "WHAAAAAAT?", come on.

Thane and Jacob really got shafted in the characterazation and romance department.  It would be great if ALL LI's (especially ME2 LI's) got more content, and some got some fixin'.Image IPB

Seriously, Thane was terminally ill. You knew this the very moment you met him in Mass Effect 2. You had to know this was the likely outcome for the romance. Personally I think his death was well done.

Ignoring flame bait. Need to go grab some more pictures........Then I really need to get some work done. I swear, my discipline has gone out the window as of late. ;)

*EDIT*
Thought I would throw this one out on the Protest Thread; already posted it yesterday on Thane's thread.

Read the first page. Him dying isn't the only reason we are angry.
If you bothered to do the romance you would know that.

I get so tired of having to repeat the same thing over and over.
