Goddamn it! My bird died. Not just any bird. The bird my friend gave me a year or two before she slowly died of liver cancer. *That* friend. And it's my fault and I'm doing all the "what ifs". I can't even keep a ****ing bird alive? I had to bury her outside my window with all her little unhatched eggs. and goddamn it, I'm crying again. And I know it's stupid, but I honestly am waiting for the end of the rule of threes. FML...

Your Shepard is pregnant? Ooh, details! Details!
Oh, poor Margurite is going to be so sad when she hears this. She still thinks that she can't have any more children.
Oh, I miss Mordin. He was my favourite after Thane and Garrus.
Faith is just stuck pregnant, it's hard for me to go further with her, she's a paragon and I just cannot get into that line of thinking. She's ashamed of herself right now. She has some hang up about unwed mothers because of her super ultra religious beliefs. Yeah, she's in the old ways of thinking. Thane offered to marry her but she didn't want too because she felt he was just saying that to make her happy. So she sits crying in her room when she thinks no one is listening. Thane loves her but he just feels helpless. I'm sure she'll stop crying eventually.
And Hope, well, she says she is. But I don't know, I haven't decided if it's just some big troll on Javik for being such a jerk to Thane. It probably will end up being a troll. Not like Jav doesn't deserve it, he just trolled Kolyat.
@mnomaha, sorry to hear about your bird.

This was the single hardest thing I've ever done relating to Thane (other than suffer through 2 play throughs of ME3), it wasn't the work because hey....it really didn't take too long to do. It was just looking at the sad and pathetic empty life support. I cried before I started and I shed many tears during this. It wasn't therapeutic, I can tell you that. This was the mess that Cameron saw every darn time she went in there. Sad but true....

thanks myth, for the editing.
here is my contribution for "The tribute"
Dear Bioware,
My Karin Shepard was born on Earth and had to spend her childhood in a slum. Her past was marked by violence, fear and anxiety. These experiences solidified her and Karin Shepard hid her feelings behind a mask to hide the severity. Finally, when she had joined the Alliance, this attribute helped to make the hard decisions as rationally as possible. Her feelings were always hidden behind the facade of a perfect commander. Karin never showed how much she had been hurt inside.
As she began the hunt for Saren, Shepard had seen more than any human being had seen before. Karin's feelings were out of proportion at this time and with almost impervious strength they pursued the renegade Spectre through the universe. Her mask was broken on Virmire and for the first time she felt as frightened as she had always felt on earth. Kaidan had been there for her and together they had endured the pain of loss. United by the common grief, she fell in love. Even though Karin was afraid about these feelings at first, Kaidan’s love gave her strength to stop the fight and defeat Saren. What Karin would not guessed, was that everything would become much worse.
Karin overcame death and found herself in a situation that she had never imagined: Cerberus had brought her back and they seemed to be the only ones who took the Reapers seriously. Karin was overwhelmed by this situation. Her former enemy was her ally now? Karin found it hard to believe, but she realized that she had to accept it, because it was the only way. Once again her sense of responsibility prevailed over her own emotions, but the inner conflict grew more and more. Just at that time she would like to have Kaidan at her side, but he was not reachable. And then Horizon came.
Karin felt sick when she began to realize how the collectors captured the colonist. Fear and dread seized her as she struggled with Garrus and Mordin against the host of monsters. Concern about Kaidan drove her forward, as well as the fear that they had kidnapped him as well. Her heart beat painfully against her chest, but she would never have expected what came after.
The Collector ship escaped and Kaidan came up to her. Karin's heart beat fast with joy when she saw that he was all right, but everything had changed. Instead of a joyous welcome Kaidan seemed almost shocked to see her again. He could not believe that Karin was alive. He did not want to acknowledge that she was now working for Cerberus. Instead of a beautiful, loving comeback, he labeled her a traitor. At that moment, her heart broke into a thousand pieces. Karin could not believe that he did not trust her after all they had been through together. Kaidan saw her only as a traitor, the renegade alliance member. He could no longer be with a woman like that, and he left a completely distraught Karin on Horizon.
Garrus wanted to talk to her about it, but Karin shut him out. No one should see her as weak as she felt at that moment. Nobody should see the unsecure child who cried a river that night.
After this event, Karin fell formally into the work. She sought distraction in order to regain the composure that Kaidan had robbed her of.
Finally, she met Thane Krios, the infamous Drell assassin. Someone like him could be useful, but when she met him in Nassana’s office, she noticed right away that he was different from she what had imagined him to be. An aura of spirituality surrounded him and stood in strong contrast to his profession, but that fascinated her. After her experience with Kaidan she had enough of typical soldiers, and Karin sought Thane out.
Karin could not deny that she was interested in Thane, and afterwards she often went down to ‘Life Support’ to talk with him. His views of philosophy and religion were fascinating, even if she had never been interested in these topics before. In her past had been no room for faith, but she began to understand why it helped Thane to get through life.
Increasingly, Karin felt the urge to go to the ‘Life support’ if she felt troubled. Thane’s understanding manner penetrated her soul as Karin had left each one. The craziest thing was that she did not even notice it. Thane had just always been honest with her and he told her more than once that he disapproved of her behavior. Karin never would have thought, but it felt good, to have someone questioned her reasons.
After several weeks, Thane Krios finally told Karin about his past and she realized that despite their differences, they had much in common. They both had suffered; they both knew the pain of losing love. After they had found his son, she saw how much Thane was still caught in it and she could understand his feelings. Kaidan was not even out of her own head.
And then Thane called Karin "Siha" for the first time. First of all she had been angry about his game, but when Thane finally explained what his nickname meant, it completely threw her off track. This word was so powerful, so full of confidence that it almost stunned Karin. All of her crew members charged her unconditionally, but that Thane gave her such an important position in his religion made her heart beat faster. There and then, Shepard noticed for the first time that something had developed between them.
Then the letter from Kaidan arrived, where he apologized to her but at the same time told her he had met another woman during her death. Karin knew that she could not blame him, but it hit her hard. All the emotions that she had finally displaced broke out. Tears burned in her eyes. Driven by an inner restlessness, she ran down to life support, to get Thanes support and advice.
Karin told him everything that had happened with Kaidan. She had never spoken about it before, but she poured her heart out to Thane. He simply listened to her, not interrupting once. He just looked at her with large, sympathetic eyes.
Finally, Thane asked her a simple question that changed everything: "This man hurt you, Siha, right?"
It was such a simple question, but it met Karin like a hammer blow. She wanted to defend Kaidan, she wanted to say that she understood, but not a word passed her lips. Instead tears returned to her eyes. As always, Karin tried to hide her feelings behind her mask, but this time she failed. The angry tears fell quietly from her eyes. Her own weakness angered her. She stood up and hit the wall to cover the pain inside of her.
At this moment, Thanes tightened his strong arms around her body and pulled her close. His proximity comforted her. It was not only to feel physically warmth; it was that it was his warmth. Thane was there for her. He supported her with his sympathetic manner and his quiet words. At that moment, when the tears dried up, Karin knew she was going to fall in love with him. However, she was afraid that he might be just a replacement, that she developed these feelings just because Thane helped her with Kaidan. Karin did not want to hurt Thane, too. He did not deserve this. The feeling of fresh, slowly budding love frightened her.
When Karin laid in her bed that evening, she thought long about what happened in life support. His way of penetrating deep into her, taking out long-lost feelings, did not scared her, as she always had thought it would. No, it helped her. Thane was always there for her and he supported her with everything he had, both mentally and physically. Everything was now clear: she had fallen in love.
After a few days, during which she went out of the way to avoid Thane, and he accepted it, Karin noticed that she missed their talks. Finally she managed to gather the courage to tell him what she felt.
Thane looked surprised, but when he told her that he felt the same way, Karin felt happiness in her stomach that she believed lost forever. Everything in her body tingled. The first time she felt like she was home and Karin was no longer afraid to open herself completely to someone. Thane had gently removed her mask and saw the true Shepard behind it. Karin had been afraid that no one could appreciate her, and what she went through for a long time, but Thane loved her. His grace offered a power that Karin never expected to have. With Thane by her side, she felt like she could handle anything.
That’s why I’m against the treatment of Thane in Mass Effect 3. His strength, his kindness, and his support for Shepard seemed to be lost forever. Karin loved him to just be there for there, seeing how she really felt, but at hospital I did not felt the same deep relationship as I did in Mass Effect 2. I missed the deep philosophical Thane, and Karin would never, ever say that she went to hospital to see Kaidan. Thane is the love of her entire world and she would freeze down hell to just keep him alive.

Losing a loved pet is heartbreaking.
I'm still not over the fact of my grandpas longhaired dachsund's death. And that was over ten years ago.
And now that two of our cats are in their senior years I...shudder to think that they will be gone someday. Espicially my cat, he's been there for me in every difficult moment of my life since I was 12 years old

As a result, I've found myself going back to replay ME2, considering how disappointing many of the storylines were in ME3. It's like Bioware used different writers to finish up the final installment of the game. So many things seemed "off". No idea if this is actually the case or not. I've only played through ME3 once at this point, and unless Bioware makes some dramatic changes, I have no desire to keep playing it. All the storylines just disappoint me too much.
What really surprises me about all of this is how EA/Bioware did not anticipate the outpouring of agnst from the community. ME is an RP game. Players are invested in the story. If they wanted to just go blow stuff up they would go play BF3 or Crysis -- not ME. Bioware/EA can talk about artistic integrity all they want (something I'm generally in supportive of), but when you have players/customers that have invested time, money, and emotion in an RP game for many hours over 5 years, they deserve a certain amount of satisfaction/closure from the story's climax -- especially if it is supposed to be the final installment of the game.
Paragon players should be able to have things wrapped in a tidy bow at the end, just like they can in ME2 (I haven't actually played ME1, yet
Please fix this great game that you have made, Bioware, and allow your customers/playerbase to feel good about how the series draws to a close. We love these characters. Give us the opportunity to CHOOSE how to give them each the send off that they deserve.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that felt this way about how the storyline (didn't) play out in ME3. Bioware handled this storyline horribly, and the OP hit on everything that seemed wrong about how Thane and FemShep interacted in ME3, and even in some of the DLC of ME2. Besides the ending, and the lack of Grunt in this storylne, my character's romance with Thane was the aspect I was most profoundly disappointed with.

Renegade players should be able to have things not so tidy, again, just as in ME2. But to draw players in with great storytelling in ME1 and ME2, and then to vomit into the game what is currently called ME3 is just...very, very sad and disappointing.

first of all welcome to our thread. ^-^
and yeah, you're absolutly right, we discussed about it quite often and a lot of ideas came up how the story should have been

LOL...I don't know. I suppose I can drum up some Space Magic, it apparently runs rampant in the ME universe.
I loved that letter, Moira and thanks for sharing it with us.
I know about the sad realities of losing pets, some touch you more than others. I have not gotten over my cat Frisky who died in August of 2005 nor her son Poof who left me in November of 2010. I cannot think of either without crying. My desk is a lonely place at times, Frisky is the only animal I ever let sit on it. Just because she was so good and just sat there like a statue watching me. We'd lay on the bed at night eating Doritios together. Yes, she ate them. She'd sleep above my head every night, Poof is the only other one who I'd let do that after she died. When he left, I put up a wall in regards to the other cats in this house. Everyone else loves them but I can't do it again.
We might have one less cat in this house if Chrissy gets on my desk again while I'm sleeping. She gets up here and molests my Thane figure. I find him tipped over and his gun gone. I should put him up on the shelf with the others but I like having him there.
