I do know when I got that incoming call from Thane going into the Citadel, I did shout, "No, you stay where you are! Do not do this!" I knew where it was going at that point. I agree that Kirrahe should have been the one, it makes more sense. Or how about no one at all? Make Shep save the Councilor. How about that? Even that makes sense because that is what she does. Thane getting there makes no sense at all, none.
Ok, so what should Thane be doing while the Citadel is under attack? Cowering under his covers? Under his bed? I'm going to assume Kolyat is on the Citadel. How about him going to make sure his son is safe? How about that? Does that not make more sense? Where in all the logic that is Thane does he figure his priority should be to save a salarian councilor and not go find his son? WTF!!!!
I only assume that Kolyat is on the Citadel because Thane is trying to mend his relationship with his son. Last I knew from ME2, Kolyat was on the Citadel. Besides, his father is living in the hospital, one could logically conclude he is still there since they are working on their relationship and all. And let's not forget he just gets to Thane's bedside a little too quickly to be anywhere else.
Ok, for those who want to say, "He was going to meet up with Shep." Nice thought but I'm a parent. I'm going to make sure my kids are safe first and besides, Shepard is NOT alone and she is armed. Even he knows being by her side can wait until the safety of his son is assured. One could also say, "Well he got in touch with Kolyat and knew he was safe." I'm sorry, that is never going to be good enough for me. My daughters telling me they are safe is not enough unless I see it for myself. What if that area became under attack too? Sorry, stay where I can see you.
/\\ This! I always thought it was strange that Thane was not more worried about Kolyat. Cerberus was shooting
everything during that attack, any parent would be flipping out.
And while I can see Thane wishing to stop the assasination of the council it does make much more sense for Kirrahe to be the one sacrificing his life for the Salarian councilor. He's STG - certainly it's something he'd be up for and able to accomplish.
Hell, why wasn't some with the Councilor at the start? Dosen't anyone have bodyguards? And if Cerberus killed them then they were preety bad at their jobs. Kirrahe could be perfect....Hell, what about the Salarian Spectre looking for Kasumi? He could even step in.
What I can see happening is Shep and Co. coming across Thane protecting Kolyat and helping them get to safety, then Thane offering his help to protect the council, just like old times, yes? It also allows a little bit of Shep/Kolyat bonding for romanced Thane.
Well, this is just off the top of my head and probably has a few holes through it...But it's a sight better than what we got.
