I always miss the good stuff when I'm away from the internet don't I?
(Gah! Long post ahead, I wont' blame ya if it goes into anyones tl'dr zone)
@gearseffect Yeah, I agree with you there. they really threw many L.I.'s out of the window in ME3.
Granted, I only play as Fem-Shep so I only have first-hand knowledge of her L.I.'s and Thane was my favorite one of them.
My brother on the other hand play exclusively as Male-Shep, and he was irked by what happened to those L.I.'s: Ashley trying too hard to look like Miranda, Miranda getting sidelined, Jack being even more sidelined and Tali gets..a horrible stock-photo.
He does agree that Fem-Shep got it worst with the Thane and Jacob business.
He said:
"When the worst things that happens to our L.I.'s are the fact that they got less screentime and a bad photoshop pic, and then compare it to what happens to Fem-Shep: Thane dies without choice and is forgotten and Jacob cheats on you. Yeah, Fem-Shep got screwed bad. Really bad."
I admit I was aslo peeved at what they did about Samara in ME3 after that teasing in ME2, and the statement that "All the romances will get a satisfying conclusion"
Pfft....
Seems like that was only true if you romanced Liara or Ashley/Kaidan. And maybe Garrus/Tali to some extent...(For the record I
like Liara/Ashley/Kaidan, but I don't like having them shoved in my face. However Garrus/Tali wasn't shoved in my face like the abovementioned)
And I actually thought Samara would have been a really good L.I., in particular for the Male-Sheps.
(Although I wouldn't say no if Fem-Shep got the oppurtunity as well

)
A deep and mature as well as an emotionally engaging romance, I mean who says only Fem-Sheps wants that with Thane?
Why not Male-Sheps with Samara?
Not that the other L.I.'s for Male-Shep aren't emotionally engaging, but I always thought that they were well,
lacking something maturity-wise.
And a L.I. who is older and more experienced with life than Shepard, is a really unique angle which sadly isn't explored as much as it should have.
*Deep sigh*
Why Bioware? Why?I really feel for you "Samaritans" I really do.

On the Hanar/Drell subject:
---
About that hanar/drell Compact, I think there are two sides of that particular coin, there are drell who are genuinely grateful for saving them and hanar who are as equally grateful for their service. And then there are hanar who, sees the drell as downright slaves and abuses the trust the drell have for them.
As for the Kepral's syndrome issue, the hanar are indeed not stupid, however I am somewhat surprised that they haven't asked for political help from the salarians. You'd think the salarians would out of sheer curiosity have some interest in the drell species. They did have interest in both the krogan and the yahg (spelling?) after all.
I'm also a bit baffled over Kepral's Syndrome as a whole, ok the illness is (at the moment) terminal, it damages the lungs, and after time, it damages the heart, liver and kidneys.
And this is due to...
bacteria in the humid atmosphere of Kahje? Errrr....
decontamination anyone?
I know I'm probably over-simplifying but still I can't wrap my head around it....
And how fast does it progress anyway?
One of Thane's lungs in ME2 is at 42% if I remember correctly, and the other lung has "nodular lesions only" and damages to major organs are "neglible at this time". He says himself that with a healthy lifestyle and exercise it can be prolonged with several years.
So the
"My favorite doctor gave me 3 months to live. 9 months ago", really didn't make any sense to me.
I mean, the Arrival DLC takes place 6 months pre-ME3.
So 9 months ago, he was still on the Normandy...and judging from Chakwas report it...just...it doesn't add up at all.
Then again
nothing about Thane's role in ME3 makes
any sense to me...
