I just saw this clip of Shepard (male-shep) confronting Ash (romanced, but dumped in ME2 for Miranda). Notice the dialog- in this scenario you get to confront the VS, declare that the relationship was over when they walked out on you on Horizon and this is why your shep moved on...

WHY are there not similar dialog options for a femshep/Thane/Kaidan triangle? Lots of Thanemancers dumped the ME1 LI for similar reasons, so why aren't these options avialable?

Wishlist for Thane

1. OPTION for a cure/prolonged life. Doesn't have to be puppies and rainbows. Have him live to the end of the game and get stranded with the rest of them :D (it also shouldn't be an easy, magic-wand type deal)
2. If he dies, have Shepard react appropriately.
3. If he dies, have the crewmates react appropriately
4. Show him in the final flashback instead of Liara
5. Fix the graphics issues (Shep's hands are like a foot above Thane's when they greet)
6. Stop forcing us toward the VS. We went to the Citadel to see Thane, not VS
7. Happy times with Thane that unlock the Paramour achievement

This one speaks the truth.

yes

I would add one more point.

Why Thane in the hospital AFTER operation in the clothes?!

I was reading in some other threads and a vast majority of the fans think the game was great until the end. I completely disagree, there's a lot wrong. What do you guys think?

Some parts are decent.  I won't lie and say I wasn't moved at certain points in the story.

But quite honestly, the way Thane's 'romance' was handled but a pretty dark cloud over my entire opinion of ME3.  By the end of the game, I literally didn't care what happened anymore because by then it was obvious to me that my choices didn't matter.  Thane dies regardless.  Yes, he goes all BAMF on Kai Leng and that's great!

.... and then he dies.  Not because of his wound.  But because in this universe of space magic where we can cure major diseases like the genophage and resurrect people from the dead, apparently we can't find a treatment or cure for THIS disease.

To me, the endings are just another bullet point in the sloppy workmanship throughout the game - animation glitches, bugged quests, cut conversations - that adds up to nothing more than total and utter disappointment.

Believe it or not, even though I'm a male, I'm disappointed with the Thane romance too.

The reason is because I have dozens and dozens of Shepards saved from Mass Effect 2 just so I can see how different variables play out in ME3. I have about an equal amount of male and female Shepards.

I was looking forward to touching romance scenes with all of them (I've so far done a Steve Cortez romance just for the heck of it even though I'm not gay personally, a Garrus Vakarian romance, and a Kelly Chambers romance, and I'm currently doing a Tali'Zorah vas Normandy romance playthrough). Unfortunately if this is the scene Thane gets, then I went to a lot of trouble for nothing, and now I'll have to use that save to romance either Diana Allers or Samantha Traynor which I was hoping to reserve for other saves.

So for different reasons, I'm with all of you. I was hoping for a better Thane romance too.

First - @Sarah - the reason the omni tool is now a sword is because BW thought the energy sword in Halo was cool Posted Image
(honestly I have no idea but it's the first thing I thought when I saw it!)

I agree completely - I thought it was awesome when Grunt came back from the Rachni, and even Mordin's death.  But Thane's dialogue and treatment were beyond horrific.  I was just shocked that there was no additional scenes or dialogue for a romanced Thane.  And if you didn't have him alive or with you in ME2, there are no drell in ME3 at all!  So sad.  And all the hints at possibly prolonging his life - for nothing.  I'm ok with him dying, but no choices is my issue.  Now mind you, all of my other choices didn't matter in the end either.

I also didn't like how all of a sudden it seems like they looked at other games and thought "hey, let's do that" - the right thumb stick for "looking at something" (I play on 360) is STRAIGHT out of Gears of War - it's the same icon!!  I first encountered the "revive" ability in GoW also, but I'm sure that's been around for ages.  And the beam/reaper ending looks familiar - oh I know, HALO.  Even that omni tool sword thing reminded me of the energy sword.  Posted Image

I'm running into a similar problem. I work 60-80 hours a week IRL so I don't have a lot of time to play ME3 to begin with.

When I bought ME on a whim I had no idea characters were romanceablee. Once I stumbled across it, I thought it was great, because I'd never encountered a game where the female players were given any options at all. With ME2 as Thane was so well designed and written for romance, I had hope that finally some game development company was getting it "right" for the gamers who wanted to play a femshep with a hetero romance.

I only have 1 complete me1-me2 playthrough, and I had accidentaly walked into the Kaidan romance by picking paragon options in the conversation without realizing it lead to romance until it was too late to back out. That same Femshep of mine intentionally picked Thane as a LI in ME2 because he was so well designed for romance, and he quickly endeared himself to my Shep. I knew Thane would probably die, but I expected closure between shep/thene before his passing in ME3 and didn't get it- not even close. What I got was complete crap, and fathomless disappointment from what had the potential to being one of the best romances of the game.

I don't have the time, or energy, to mess around with creating another playthrough in me1 just to experiment with the other romances. I do have an almost complete playthrough in me2 with a Shep faithful to Thane. Unfortunately I've seen a video of the differences in dialog between the loyal Thanemance and the love triangle Thanemance, and the only difference in conversation between Shep/Thane comes down to one line of dialog when you greet him at the Huerta lobby. There is absolutely no reward whatsoever for being loyal to Thane, and since his romance was shat upon in ME3 by the writers/devs in the first place it gives me no incentive to complete my second playthrough with my other FemShep loyal to Thane.

I am on the fence between finishing my first playthrough, but even if I do I won't be re-playing the game after that. I'm a recreational gamer with little free time, and what time I have invested in ME1&2 has just been flushed down the toilet by the failure of the writers and the dev team on Thane's romance.

After reading this and then remembering how they "forgot" I was reminded of the GI article where they explained the design and thought that went into Thane. How he was supposed to have earrings but then they realized they "forgot" and then said, "Screw it." Yeah, funny how it all comes back. Either way for those that never saw that article.

Thane romancers...

Please get your butts over to this topic and stand up for our man. So far I'm the only damned one to list him!

http://social.biowar...5/index/9926502

If we don't support him, we prove BioWare right for not treating him as a real love interest and not bothering to give us a plotline to save him!

I certainly don't. I even have a few ideas on how he could have lived! but then i've been on these threads so often that it may not have been my idea originally.

I'm firmly in the "he did not have to die" camp (and only because of things that BW added to the game & dlc, mind you!) BUT if he IS destined to die, it could have at least been done better!

Yeah I know! The only thing kaidan says is, "I've heard something about you and some assassin" Then you can reply, sorry, and he's like, oh yeah whatever I still love you bla bla bla...not very interesting.  :(
Then the next time you talk about it Thane is already dead so you can choose to stay with him or not, but all I want is THANE!!!!! :crying:

I did my first playthrough as a FemShep that nearly gave up on Kaidan for Thane. I was not dissapointed, his final gesture was so thoughtful and touching it nearly made me get my mongolian archer/thief sidekick to cry for me. Seriously, the character says he's dying right when you meet him, I had no expectations of him other than a dignified death in ME3. He stopped Kai Leng, he gave his life to save another, a final act of redemption for his battered soul. Then he prayed for my Shepard, and I'm alright with that.

Right! I wanted to tell him, I'm With Thane damn you!

I'm also curious as to how Kaidan/Ashley found out about Jack/Thane/Jacob, etc... I mean really, how did they find out? Liara?

So you're not bothered that none of sheps friends gave any words of condolence when her lover died? and your not bothered that BW teased the fans with potential treatments and cures and never delivered on these?

Okay... to each their own

He prayed for EVERY Shepard.  Including the romanced one.  NOT special dialogue, not unique, just cookie cutter for all Sheps.  FAIL.

I can agree with that, condolences are given for the other losses.  As for a cure?  For real?  Cures for cancer are teased monthly, and people still die from them by the truckload.  You are not promised a tomorrrow, neither was Thane.

My point is that his death was fine within the context of the character, he died doing one last good deed.  His death was poignant, and the parting scene with Thane surrounded by those he loved is what would have been important to him, not what platitudes you recieved after he was gone.

Have you not yet read the first post of this topic???

That first post has exactly zero relevance to mine.  I offered my opinion on his death, which you clearly disagree with.

OP has nothing to do with me, or my opinion on the matter.

So his love or companionship was (or should have been) conditional on returns?  Wow.  I'm touched by the gesture, you're upset that you didn't get something more.

I agree that the gesture and sentiment were lovely - but I somehow thought that BW would at least have changed up SOME of the dialogue etc. for a romanced Thane.  Just disappointed.
I enjoyed his fighting KL for sure, and showing what a BAMF he is - even in his weakened state.
