Unrepentant Thane fan here. I have never posted before but I read a lot of these threads daily. I have never been great about posting on forums as. I am still pretty devastated about what they did with Thane in this game. My husband probably thinks I am crazy. Actually I know he does but thats OK. I have only been able to play ME3 twice. My Thanemance was first since I just had to know what happened to him and then my Kaidan playthrough was second (I only had one loyal to him and the rest were Thane). It is really sad the difference between the two romances and how empty I felt trying to finish the first time.
I have always been a huge Bioware fan. It really is sad that this game was to be the end and that is what we got.

renember, we all had the problem...for me was other way arround, i started with kaidan to just see how it went and then i wanted to lay back and enjoy the way together with thane..
well...that was actually a bad idea. i have not finish my poor karin yet

Oh yeah, those...still waiting for mine.  Maybe I should see about that.  Bets are I'll forget until it's mentioned again.

I saw Gears write about how ME was about some firsts for him.  For me it was too.  I remember the game being advertised on G4 during some event could have been E3, maybe something later.  I'm old, I forget.  But back then (a whole 5 years ago) I remember watching the trailer and saying, "Oh look at those graphics, you can make your own choices, make your own character!  I MUST play that."  Before this I was quite happy with Final Fantasy, Zelda, and Diablo.  My husband (not at the time but he was in my life) looked at me and said, "You will not play that, it's sci fi."  I said I would.  Yes, it's true I'm not a sci fi fan.  Star Trek...ummmm, no.  Same with all other sci fi related shows.  Fantasy, yes.

So he bit the bullet and bought me ME for Xmas the year it came out.  I ripped off the plastic wrap and sat down to play it and I was gone.  I couldn't leave the TV.  At the end, he asked how I liked it and I told him I loved it except that death trap Mako.  Couldn't drive that thing to save my life.  Then I whined, "it's supposed to be a trilogy, I can't wait for the next ones."  Pre ordered ME2 and waited rather impatiently mind you.  Took a chance on Dragon Age Origins in the meantime.  Hey, it's BW, they made ME, it's gotta be ok.  There it was...Zevran.  Oh my naughty perverse Elf, how I love thee.  He just bumped Cloud Strife outta the top spot.

Then it happened ME2 was released and I ran home loaded up my imported Cameron and played.  Then I fell.... Thane.  Goodbye Zevran, you are no longer number one.  Now you know how poor Cloud felt being pushed aside.  Of course, then I waited for ME3.  And well, after finishing that I had another first.  It was the first time a game actually made me ill.  I've cried during games (ahem FFX comes to mind and I may have shed a tear in FFVII) but this was beyond that.  It is the first time a game actually repulsed me to the point that I found no joy in other games.  It is also the first time that I decided to not take this crap they handed us called ME3 sitting down.  No.  I was going to fight for them to try and fix this because I loved their stuff and I knew they were capable of doing better than this.  

Oh yeah, between ME2 and ME3, I did play that game called DAII.  It really wasn't bad, it wasn't great but I could replay it again.  Hello, Fenris.  Great character but he wasn't enough to knock Thane off his throne.  I don't think there will ever be another character who will surpass Thane, imo.  He's like my Undertaker.  First time I saw him back in 1990 and 22 years later, wrestlers have come and gone, some very great ones but none have ever knocked UT off his throne.  I can be very loyal and dedicated.  And no, I cannot compare the two, there is not one who I feel is better than the other.  At least with the Undertaker, I got to reach out and touch that one...I'd love to reach out and touch Thane.

Don't know if this is worth mentioning or not but I was watching Felicia Day's flog from a couple of weeks ago
and about 50 seconds in she talks about her "Fictional Five" and they show a list and #1 on her list it says Thane.
I don't know what other Thane it could be..are there other ones out there? Not that I know of anyway. It's just up there for a second or two but still, if true I'm sure she'd be p!ssed about the Thane romance...speculation..I know 
I also remember her asking if the romances in ME3 were any good..i think on google + or something..maybe facebook I can't remember and it was before I finished my playthrough.....
anyway..I sent her an email  or whoever reads the emails over there and asked about it (hey she says email questions to her) then went on to tell her about how bad they messed up Thane and the LI's from ME2 and gave her the link to the protesting the treatment of ME2 Li's in Me3 facebook page..I don't know if she'll actually even get to read it or not but it's worth a try don't you think? More support for our Thane:wub: 
Then I thanked her for being nice to my kid (dressed up as Garrus..who wouldn't remember that? cute little Garrus..) and me when we saw her in chicago at wizard world..so maybe she'll read it or something.

Felicia Day had wrote on her Facebook page, after she picked up the game (me3), that she had "heard" that Thane wasn't a real love interest in the third installment (and yes, Thane was her LI of choice, apparently). She was asking fellow followers who she should romance instead, and @yama (I think it was her) suggested that she stick with Thane, so she could "see" what happens to him.

Whether or not she did, I don't know......would be nice if she lended her support for our Delicious Drell.

On Twitter, Felicia Day said she continued her romance with Thane anyway because who couldn't fall for an assassin with a heart of gold (something like that). She stopped tweeting about ME3 altogether after Grunt's mission or so. Maybe she witnessed the horror and couldn't bring herself to talk about it/ continue on. Seeing that she has done some work with BW, I'm not sure if she could express any negativity about the game, although she did say she missed the old squad.

what horror indeed. You're right she probably can't say it sucked krogan balls but I wonder if she could lend support to those who want additional content for ME2 LI's in a positive way.
