I might be by the time they release Half Life episode 3. Very sad. I fully expect some form of keyboard arthritis to kick in soon. I suppose it could be worse. I could use a gamepad. LOL

ahaaaa...so acting like a prima donna work, nice to know :D i should keep that in mind

yeah...i know that...it was quite the same...my laptop is quite good, but he's really the minimum you need for playing mass effect. but i started dragon age on pc because i wanted the wedding mods (i know, i know, a good reason, huh? ;))
dragon age is probally not so a big deal, strange o.o

Haha! Yep, looks like it worked perfectly! =P

My laptop is just above the minimum for ME2 as well, but it just won't work properly!  At the moment I can't interact with any of the characters!  I only got it for the screenshots and the flycam so hopefully I can get it to work and then maybe I will eventually start the artwork I've been meaning to do for ages! =P

I really need to finish HL2... I was so terrible at driving things in that game so I kinda gave it a rest for a while then got distracted with other games...  Loved Portal and Portal 2 though!

As usual this thread moves at FTL speeds when I'm asleep....

Well on the PC vs Console subject:

I'm a console gamer at heart having almost literally grown up with the SNES pad attached to my hands since I was 3 years old.

I used to be glued to the likes of Super Mario All-stars, Donkey Kong country and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. And then the N64 arrived in 1998, and more Zelda. Come year 2002, and there's Playstation 2, with Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry, Gamecube with even more Zelda and the JRPG Baten Kaitos. And then Xbox 360 crashed into the fray with more Devil May Cry, Fable and Mass Effect.

Around that time my brother got into PC-Gaming and got Dragon Age Origins and once he let me borrow his computer to play it, I was glued to his PC.
And now come 2012, I've built my own gaming rig (Which is named after Thane and features green LED lights hehe) not the most fanciest hardware, but it gets more than the job done concerning graphics and memory.
Which reminds me that I've yet to finish my 100% complete DAO playthrough....I haven't touched DA2 yet since I want that playthrough imported. *Sigh* must finish DAO first...

On ME on console vs. PC

Console hands down for me. I fired up my brother's PC-edition of ME1 (in order to get reference pics for the Thane Monopoly)  and it was almost unplayable for me.

I mean seriously where is the Reload save button? Or the Menu button? How do I exit to the main menu? And what is up with bypassing doors? Aargh!

I know ME1 for PC was made with another studio involved, so ME2 and ME3 is controller-wise not as bad but meh...

I mostly use the PC version for fly-cam and extracting 3d-models and then I play the game on Xbox or I did until you know..... Posted Image

Although I'm a tad envious over the fact of hd-textures (for ME2) and text-mods.

/Well that turned into a wall of text....oops....

[Edit] Formatting derp

I've always had a console. Had an Atari (yes, the original), then the 2600, then nothing until I bought the first Xbox back in 2003. Been hooked since. LOVED KOTOR, and I do really love Halo (all of them) but I liked the story and the mechanics. Sometimes you just need to blow things up with a Scorpion tank!
We have 4 PCs and 4 laptops, so no shortage of PC power, but I am not great with the keyboard controls either. The only game I have on PC is DA:O and that is for all the mods. I wish they would just release a toolset for ME - we can build our own damn game!
And I'm posting from my BlackBerry so maybe derp spelling.

I have to say this...I do not have a problem with WASD. My fingers are quite quick and nimble while typing and it's a good thing I know the QWERTY keyboard like the back of my hand because more than half the letters have been wiped off the keys due to overuse. My keyboard is also curved too, so it does make it easier. It is the jumpiness of my mouse, as great as it is, I get ticked off during ME3 because it is not as great as my xbox controller. Cover and roll is just easier with a controller. And well I don't have to adjust my FOV again just because a cat or dog decided to rub up against my desk or hit the back of my chair. I am in the process of upgrading my video card...that process is always a long one for me. I'm picky and I need to compare everything.

As to what I prefer, I prefer the console except with ME2 and DA:O/DAII there is no way I can go back to console with those games. The mods are too fun, playing dress up with my characters is fun..I like putting Fenris in different variations of his clothes and for some odd reason I like to have all my DAII characters wearing black. DA:O, well for those of us who have modded our game to high hell, you understand. A naked Zevran makes for a great game.

@Moira... no it didn't take me that long to get that shot. Origin is like everything else, sometimes I turn it on and then never bother to turn it off. (go with that where you will ladies, some of you will).

@gears, Cam and Thane were on the Normandy...he NEVER dies in my stories. I have no clue what he did to Feron. Speculations from Everyone!

Well I'm going to give PC gaming another try. When I'm typing I don't have to think about where the keys are at all either, but for some reason I can't seem to get it with gaming. But I think that is something that I will get the hang of. And I couldn't hack anything in ME2 cos it was so hard trying to use the mouse pad to get to the right spot in time, so hopefully actually having a mouse will help with that! Now I just need to go and learn about mods cos I am completely clueless! =P

@gears...i've only played Half Life 2, with the SP dlc stuff. I've decided that I will be too old to play games by the time they release HL3. Sad because it's such a good game. I loved Portal 1 & 2 though. Took me a while to realise I didn't have to shoot anyone, but it was good after that.

And hell no, Thane is not eating ridges, he was eating Ruffles.

*ghasp* You're never too old to play games :P...right...right?

Nope, nope, never!!Posted Image It's when you stop playing, and enjoying a fun game or a good book or any of the fun things in life that you get old!Posted Image

Hmm...I keep hearing about Portal; methinks I need to try it out! Posted Image

Console gamer too, btw, but I am thinking of pc gaming now-because of the mods, they seem pretty cool!:P

And glad I posted this before I saw the pic on the top of the page...*has lost major links to general coherence**we need a drool smilie here*

Jumps in to convo.......PC gamer originally, until the PS1 came out. Then my husband bought the Dreamcast, and that eventually led to....well...pretty much all the consoles after that. Funny thing is, he doesn't really game anymore (he was mostly into driving games and Ace Combat, but he did like playing hack n' slash games with me....and watching me freak out at Silent Hill >.<). I have taken over all the gaming in this house.

Today I am jumping back into a bit of PC gaming.....getting DAO and DA2 for the PC. I still love playing them on the xbox, but honestly, I am ready to expand the playing on DAO, and I like having the lead into DA2, so why not have that as well. Then I too can make Zev run around nekkid, and have Alistair fight Loghain with his "weapon", and Fenris can finally change his damn clothes (though I actually like his base armor). :D

I am not much of a pc gamer at all.
I prefer my PS3. I don't really use my xbox much either. I only got ME2 and 3 for the pc to mod. I admit that. It's fun and I do enjoy it, but my first console was a PS2 so I will always be a playstation girl first.

My husband plays more games on the pc than me. He's playing Diablo 3 right now.

LOL My Fenris is wearing his romanced gear. Black with white feather trim. It covers the red on his arm, but it looks reeeeealy nice.

@Emerald...I think quick reload is F9. I could be wrong, or maybe I just remapped it myself...

@Hisilome...Portal is an awesome game! Portal 2 is even better but they are both worth a play. And really cheap right now.

@Coldi...Silent Hill...Now that's a classic. I never went beyond the first game though. Played the hell out of it when it first came out.

I will always have my playstations. I actually have two of each, mainly because the second ones are chipped. Games are very expensive over here, so I refused to part with my US versions. Stupid region locking...

*stares at screen with puppy eyes.....wanna see Shell's sexy Fenris outfit*

I GOT IT!!! Well, them.....DAO and DA2 for the PC.  Now I just got to figure out how the hell to do any of this......and on a laptop....Fear not; I will Derp it!Posted Image  But, I'm excited.  Rog claims he is getting me a new desktop for my b-day, so that will probably make playing these games a bit easier.  We shall see.......if I get good enough, then I may repurchase ME and ME2 for the PC.  But I sux at shooters (ok, I'm better now, but seriously.....I was gawd awful when I started), and I imagine it to be even harder to do on the PC.

Desktop vx. laptop is a big difference. IMO laptops are generally inferior for gaming as you cannot upgrade them as fully as you can a desktop. Also, I fail at the little mousepad thing. I must have separate keyboard and mouse utilities.

Agreed.  My current desktop is old and nearly abandoned, that's why husband is going to get me a new one.  I am using the laptop for now till that happens.  Afraid if I tried to install these games into my old tower, it might melt or somethin!Posted Image

I think you can re assign the keys  on your  taste, or  your personal ergonomic easyness

And    I still support Thane Krios here  ;)

Yeah, I'd need to figure that part out too though! =P  Ah I can just stick it on the easiest difficulty and I'll see how it goes!  Or if I can figure out how to get xbox saves on it like utaker mentioned, then I won't need to do very much at all!

Oh yes... Thane

About keyboard it is just a matter of use. More you play with it , more you get faster and don't need to check.

To return on the Thane subject I found a link on a site who sell Wall paper sticker real sized pictures of Mass Effect heroes ...they put Thane in it and it sadened me and  made me smile all at once.
I'm glad they do these stickers (I would eventually buy one one day) but still it make it evident to me that everyone love Thane except the ones who made him :( Really why  people  ever think that  killing a hero is  great and epic?
On that I'll  go rest I have  lot of  projects running  I need to wake up early :/

Yup.....Derp! bwahahaha.......even though my laptop is powerful enough for DAO, it no like it. And admittedly, it is on the lower end of the system requirements....some things above the min, and others right at the min. Meh, it still technically works, but its jarring as all hell. Made a pretty little CE for Zev.....who will now need to sadly wait to Rog upgrades my desktop for my birthday......(early b-day present, he says....very sweet of him, but we will see :D).

I can say that Dragon Age has given me more funny screenies that ME has. My gallery of WTF moments with Zevran and Cameron (I'm a real creative one) is well, pretty large. <ridges> One comes to mind, in combat Zev is right behind the Warden and they have their weapons drawn and his blade goes right through her skirt and comes out the front. Yeee....ouch!!!!!!!!! I have some Fenris but they are more prone to my perverted mind. Just look how Fenris stands...with his legs apart...WTF are you doing to me!!!!! Can't concentrate......

Then there is Thane, his suit is enough to send me into a frenzy. I know they claim his chest is exposed because it's supposed to help him medically but c'mon....it screams at you to look at his chest then see the zipper and then follow that down to his crotch! :::faints::: None of that design was an accident we were supposed to follow that path. Or if you are an extreme perv like me, your eyes immediately diverted to his pants and went up....after some time. A long time. Especially when you start to hyperventilate and roll off your bed. Playing on the PC is great but there are few things as glorious than seeing Thane on a 60" TV (well, there are bigger TV's now, must get one to see supersized Thane). He is so enlarged and big!! Oh my....Gods!!!!!!!!
