As for why it's coming to the Wii U, my guess is because the Wii has a completly different audance then any other gaming system out there right now, so by putting it on the new Wii U this Holiday as a launch title BW/EA thinks they can cash in on a new and bigger audance, they want their game to be the game everyone wants.
Those aren't just the default settings for the Wii U they are the default for ALL non-imported ME2 Shep's across the board Xbox 360, PC, PS3, and now the Wii U. Yep the all across the board is what really give me the awful sour sickening feeling.
Also ME3 is going to be a launch title on the Wii U, I've never bought a Nintendo system before (when I was a kid my brothers and to share a old Super Nintendo and at some point we ended up with the N64) anyway, I never planed on buying a Wii or the new Wii U.
At this point I'm rather repulsed at the thought of any video games, it's hard to even consider getting into any new games with stuff that was pulled in ME3.
Games are way too expensive to throw that kinda money away and then have it go so south at the end. I'd been very hesitant before ME3 buying any games, but now after ME3 well it's like ......... yeah I can't even think about getting into a new game.

Sadly I've been saying this for at least the last 2 years and
everyone keeps saying I'm insane and paranoid or just whacky, but what
the video game industry is going through is they are experincing huge
sells like never before. I mean the money and profit is HUGE! SO what's
gonna happen is well everyone will want to cash in on that craze the
latest in thing, trend, be it the Call of Duty online numbers, the over
rated Halo style MP, the number of system the Wii has sold, it's all
what everyone wants to cash in on. However by doing so what's going to
happen is the video game market is going to get more watered down and
more watered down each year, and everyone is going to be copying
everyone trying to get huge MONEY and SELLS, by doing that.
What's
gonna happen is that the gaming companies are going to get into this
never ending cycle, and well soon people are going to wake up and say
"Hey WTF why am I playing games? I mean there isn't anything orignal too
these games, where did this go wrong? I done buying games, all they are
any more is cookie cutter copy cat versions". But when the fans stop
spending the companies won't notice it their heads will be too far up
their own @sses and each others @sses thinking they got it figured out.
Then
BAM it's too late the market bottoms out compinyies are going belly up
and the industry just eats itself inside out, because it became
stagnaight nothing unique, new, different, coming out much.
Then
10 years after the big industry is bottomed out and a shell of what it
used to be, people will look back at all the games that were unique and
orignal the ones that had names, the ones that got started the copy cat
cookie cutter cycle, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, Guitar Hero, the
giants of the day, the mega names, these ones along with games like
possibly even Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil any game that
was a BIG series in the time it started to go bad, those games will be
the ones that take the burnt of the blame, not the million other cookie
cutter games no one remembers, it won't be the TimeShift, Area 51, or
any other game like that because no one remembers those cookie cutters,
they remember the giants.
I think that as much blame that any
game gets, ME3 will be looked at as the biggest sell out, the worst
offender of trying to be something your not, trying to be the game for
everyone, that game for Call of Duty fans, the Mass Effect name and
fans, the Nintendo fans, the Wii Sports fans, the Gears of War, and Halo
fans, it will be the poster child for sell outs in the video game
industry.
Yes I've been saying this for nearly 2 years now,
granted the details and names of games have been kept updated and ME3
managed to take be the giant slap to my face that said yeah look it's
already happening, soon people won't say your insane, or maybe they will
continue to say that, either way it's whats gonna happen ME3 served as
the finale proof that sometimes the mistakes of history just repeat
theirself.
What am I basing this history off of? Well the Music
industry in the 80's the Rock/Metal industry, you see that the bands
taking the brunt of it all, are RATT, Moltey Crew, Posion, Warrant,
Whitesnake, Cinderella, Quite Roits and at times I've seen some idoits
say W.A.S.P. too dispite their extremlly heavy sound.
You don't
see people placing blame on Enuff znuff, Brinty Fox, AutoGraph, Odin,
Vixen, and the million other nobody copy cats which list goes on and on.
That's right I'm saying that I am seeing a disturbing trend in
the gaming industry compairable to that of the 80's rocord industry.
