You know I am really surprised they even remembered that LotSB letter. They forgot everything else about his character. I can picture this happening...oh new guy to the ME writing team, you get the drell. WTF was his name? Oh yeah, Thane. Yeah, you get Thane. Who is Thane? Hold on, let me ask around. Oh he was dying from some illness in the last game, something about his lungs and stuff. All the stuff gets written. Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you we "think" he may have been an LI. What was that? Oh, he called FemShep "Siha" if they were in a romance or even really good friends. Yeah, Keythe already recorded his lines. Oh s**t!!! Let's grab some Siha's from the ME2 sound files and just tack them on. Hee hee...they'll never notice, who romanced a dying man anyway? Someone mentioned a letter from that DLC with LIARA!!! Oh yeah, the Liara DLC (swoon), ummm...yeah, flag that as being sent after he dies. But don't send it to ManShep, that won't work. We can't look like complete fools.
Thane is done...party time, excellent!!!

Biggest crapfest to this whole Thane fiasco is really simple. No matter if you wanted him to live (yes please!), were fine with him living OR dying (choices you say???), or even expected him to die (because that is some great soap opera s**t......and this is a 'SPACE soap opera afterall...blah, blech, belch!)....THEY NEGATED HIS CHARACTER ARC WHEN ROMANCED!! AND, took away the ACTUAL LI status (ya people did notice that his name came up in an import as "romanced", didn't ya)?!?
If there was ONE thing I absolutely did NOT expect from me3, it was that my VERY legitimate LI choice in ME2, would be 'tossed out da airlock'! May have had reasonable fears that they would kill him off <evileye>, didn't like that idea one bit, BUT........to actually demolish his romance arc and nullify the romance was completely unexpected and unacceptable!
We have ranted and rabbled at all of this, but because of how they handled him, we have a real conundrum on what they "might" give us Thanemancers out of the EC (if we ever got anything....I actually would be very surprised if they included his face in the last Shepard vision). Because they p*ssed away the character content (including the romance content....hehe; just made myself laugh), anything that would "seem" endearing, or sweet, or meaningful in any way, will look really cheap in the end. Why? Because again, it would be OOC. They made him content with death, made him decide Shep and him were just a 'distraction' (Shep seemed to be fine with this one herself.....stoopid beeotch!).....the LotSB letter alread contradicts much of what he says to you during the tiny bit of content we do have, so what.....we flipflop again with endearments that come AFTER his death (he's forced into that afterall..). So, what was it; a real romance.....not a real romance......and Thane's lack of oxygen must have really done a number on his head for him to pull such a 'Sybil'. You in love with Shepard or not Thane....make up your swiss-cheesed head! Bah.
Ya know, my cat just took a crap in the litterbox, and it stinks to high heaven (what da hell have you been eating cat....); still would rather smell THAT s**t, then play this s**t. (k, I'm in kinda a mood tonight....sorry)

I can't even think about the horror they might be creating or not creating in regards to Thane in the EC. I haven't seen Keythe Farely post on FB since the 7th, so maybe that means ...... something lol.
I noticed in my rage and sadness I threw out my Thane import and ME2 save. I am contemplating playing ME2 again for him but I don't know if I can considering the baloney that is ME3.

After taking a break from anything ME for a bit, I did finally start finishing out Evan's run (and also grabbing pics for Beanie's project) in ME2. I am actually enjoying it. I am trying to be more "positive" (though ya wouldn't know from the above rant....meh) about ME and ME2. Mostly because I want to feel like I am somehow recouping my lost $$'s from purchasing me3. Ya, I know; slightly warped thought process, but still....I can't play MY Shepard's with MY LI choice in me3 (can't play me3 for lots of reasons, Thane and MY Shepards just being the most prominent two), so I make do with what I can make work. And in this case, it is ME and ME2. At least they are still fun; I get to spend time with my LI of choice, and other squaddies I adore, and then I can grab "The Thirty-Six Stratagems of Wang Jingze", "News", "How Fornax Changed My Life", and "A Dance of Minds".....all great fanfics that give me even more ways to consider how the series continues/ends (I too come up with stories of my own, but rarely write them down...go figure.)
BTW; if any of the authors of the aforementioned fanfics ever thinks of writing some more, I will gladly be a member of your audience! *hint/hint*

As for the EC, it would seem logical for them to include proper flashbacks at the end, but it seems to me that the logic being employed at BW is working towards a goal of greed rather than quality. If they were trying to make ME3 conclude the series in a fitting manor the logical choices would have included a chance to save thane, a chance for Jacob to have remained loyal, and the Samara romance could have been resolved. (not forgetting the journal, autodialogue, face imports) I guess they thought branching storylines for less popular characters were not cost effective. I also wonder how it would work for Thane, and Samara? would it make a difference if the romance wasn't locked in when fixing the flashbacks?
... what's my point here... yeah, I would not be at all surprised if they ignored Thane completely in the EC, sadly it's what I expect... although tbh having a Thane flashback won't get me to play the game again, that would be far to little, far too late (... who am I kidding, There was NEVER a good time to force Thane's death on me

What pisses me off till this day about the game play that we were laughed at and turned into fools. It's that level of cruelty and the fact we are still being brutalize by BW that leaves me with no faith in them what-so-ever. We are consent being under attack or being ignored. No other fan base has to put up with this level of bullsh*t.
We are the only ones who have to convince a company of why Thane should come back from the dead. Something we shouldn't have to do in the first place. I mean, HELLO, he was an LI. You can try and patch up a mangled, threadbare job of story and characterization, but if the platform is rotten, the rest doesn't matter.

Agreed.
I believe 100% that cannot make us go through this all over again. There would be no words to describe how incrediably messed up that would be. Save him or don't even bother. A patch isn't going to cut it.
