Well said guys!

I like how we are known as the "Save Thane" people, my awesomeness knows no boundries. lol.

I just want to point out one more thing, I always notice how we are always being disrespected. We can't even form a thread, project, etc without finding ourselves in a heated debate about Thane's death. Sadly, there are more problems to a romance Thane than just his death.

Quite frankly, I am tired of even writing the word "death". I like us to be able to talk more openly and freely one day.

Another thing I want to say - this is again, not to excuse any occasional bad behavior or clique-ishness, but rather to explain it - is that we're especially defensive because BioWare people themselves are the ones who have come against us, sometimes with less than good intent. Chris Priestly in particular has made jokes at our expense, while Tully Ackland and Patrick Weekes (though nice about it) have argued against our points for better treatment of Thane. They are, of course, entitled to their respective opinions, yet we have - to my knowledge - not gotten any response to our counter-arguments. Though I understand that they're busy people, or perhaps don't want to stoke the fire too much, it's very frustrating to see that people you're trying to reach out to aren't receptive of what you're saying. Such frustration can build into a kind of resentment towards people who oppose us, especially when they too don't take the time to read through what has already been written.

However, I do think we need to step back a little, take some deep breaths before responding, and try not to jump down people's throats when they oppose us. Act, not react, I guess.

beanie and me discussed this topic, too... we understand charlets point, really, but we want some understanding anyway...
i really, really feel frustated by all the attack. I'ven blamed for wanting more content, I'm hypcrotical and childish...and that was the nicest thing.
besides i felt like a parrot. i just copied out all my arguments and just pasted them... really...i have a document of it, but it was like climbing an everest...it's impossible, because most where totally blocked for a discussion and just want rage

Monsters aren't born, but created. I feel like this is the path we are heading down.

Yeah, I am still alittle sore about being trolled by Chris P. Two months of hard work to bring them constructive feedback, in a creative way to be treated as a joke.

I am with Blue, read, think, and then act. I personally don't engage in debates anymore. I am tired of being a parrot, like Moira.

That's one of the things that upsets me...that get's my blood boiling is that it feels as if Bioware is just spitting in our faces...after all that false hope they gave us and here we are trying to point out the facts and our opinions and being as mature and nice as we can and asking nicely for an option to save Thane! You get people who disrespect your opinion and don't want to see from our side of the view and they call you names plus you got somebody from Bioware cracking rude jokes and arguing with us....pathetic!

But yes I agree take a deep breath before responding I agree....it's just sometimes it feels we have nobody on our side period and the niceness runs out! Posted Image

I know, dear.  There are plenty of people on our side though.  A very common suggestion in the Romance DLC thread is to "fix" Thane and Jacob, and this is from people that don't romance them.

Think happy thoughts <3

Like Moira said, we talked about this issue. I agree with points on both sides and I've always tried to avoid getting involved with arguments myself. I realise that others have different opinions and of course they are entitled to them. I have simply ignored the ones who seem to be completely closed minded or immature and believe I have had mature discussions with others about the matter.

To be honest, all I've had to say in the other threads recently is "It's not all about Thane's death" because I feel that that issue is the only thing being focused on by a lot of people who liked that he died. It would be nice if people acknowledged the other issues (including BioWare employees) because I would like genuine opinions or answers with regards to them. I appreciate the people who do take the time to listen to the other issues, even if they don't change their opinion on the matter.

You mean like posting on a message board to see a virtual character who died as a part of a story be revived for your personal fantasies. I think all of us can find something better to do with our time.

I'm sorry, but... I just had to get that one out of there.

Two wrongs don't make a right, chaps. Don't go on about somebody being an "immature troll" then slander them in your private clique thread like you're so much better than they are. A lot of these 'troll' comments from people also seem to be baseless accusations brought about because you disagree with their opinion and you have a little club to back you up on ganging up on the person like the bloke with the Udina avatar who's name escapes me.

Meanwhile, here's a pic some people might like (not done by me obviously).

I guess I understand your sentiment Chalet but I do think you are being a touch unfair here.  Speaking for myself...

'revived for your personal fantasies' ... certainly not how I would put it.  What has me most annoyed about this was that BW have made a shepard in a romance with Thane unrecognizable and also made a Thane in a romance with Shepard unrecognizable.  It is very hard to enjoy playing a game where the character you have carried through two games is destroyed, add to that BW enforcing bereavement (fun times<_<) on Thane with Shepard failing to have any believable reaction was, for me, story and by extension game breaking... that's £70 and 100s of hours down the drain.

'private clique'  I'd like to think we're welcoming to those who wish to discuss Thane's treatment and while I am a staunch supporter of a cure/life extension I am aware that not everyone who protests Thane's treatment feels the same way, and that's fine.  I love it when new posters come along and join the chat.

I agree with others who've already responded that when we get annoyed it tends to be when dealing with someone who doesn't even try and qualify their statement in any way.  I think that we have always tried to back up our arguments with evidence provided by BW in game, on CDN, and through their marketing.  All that tends to be ignored which is very frustrating.

Rising to the bait is never a good thing but we're all human and we've been mistreated by BW, as have all female gamers, and its not on.

I did not catch this one earlier. "Personal fantasies". I think we all have one, from everyone within all the fanbases. It's just human nature. Maturely, realizing that, takes some real honesty. After the passing of my late husband, I have no desire to move on solely because it realistically would not work out right now. However, if I innocently rely on a fictional character to bring me a little bit of comfort, I see nothing wrong with it. It's not like I can't find someone in real life right now, God only knows how many times I have been asked out since then.

Fantasizing helps us seek comfort from real life. There is nothing wrong with it. That's why we all do it. To feel embarrassed or ashamed of doing it would be stupid.

You know, no matter how many people have trolled me (actual trolls) I have never once step into their fanbase and tell off an entire fan base. Your words hold no real meaning to me. Like all other fanbases, we are made of different sorts of people. Each person brings their own outlook on things and that's a good thing. It keeps us alive and pumping.

I hesitate to even respond to this, but, here it goes.  Please understand I am not attempting to be malicious towards you, but rather, am trying to help you see how your post is going to have the exact opposite effect you might be intending, unless your intent is to simply insult people here further.

In your statements above, you are being as rude and insensitive to us, as you have accused many of us of being to others.  You also presume to know the personal intentions of each poster here, and make judgements about how all of us should or should not be spending our time.  All in all, you are highly presumptuous and pretentious, and act as superiorly towards us, as you accuse us of acting towards others.

We simply have a difference of opinion.  Why do you insist on construing it as you have?  "Personal fantasies?"  My guess is that there are ALOT of players on these forums that have had fantasies about their ME LIs, and the vast majority are not going to be female.  The Miranda and Liara fans, especially, might have the market cornered on that.  Have you dropped into any of the other character threads to demean and belittle them?  My guess is that you haven't.  So, the problem isn't that we may or may not fantasize about Thane, it is again an issue about us vigorously supporting an optional change in his storyline, which you apparently disagree with.  That last part is certainly your right, and I don't judge you for it.

This isn't at all about "personal fantasies."  The fact is that most of us here simply don't agree with how Bioware treated the character in ME3, not when compared to an ME2 romanced Thane.  There are many non-romancers of Thane that agree.  Are we emotionally-invested in Thane, as a character?  Absolutely.  That is one of the amazing things that BW achieved in the Mass Effect franchaise.  By giving us the opportunity to help control how the story unfolded, many players (I'd even say most players) developed a deeper emotional connection to Shephard, Shep's teammates, and certainly Shep's LIs.  That in itself should explain why fans were so upset about the endings, and certainly, why Thane and Jacob fans, especially, were so angry and hurt by what BW did.  In a game about choice, BW took away our ability to choose when it came to these 2 LIs, so of course, the player base is going to be upset.  Bioware changed the rules on us in the last inning of the game.

As far as the picture that you linked, the artist's rendition is amusing, but I like Thane in all his greeny-goodness.  I don't want him to look human, otherwise he wouldn't be...Thane.  I'm not particularly xenophobic when it comes to ME, though I do think that Garrus looks like a giant grasshopper, and have no desire to romance him whatsoever. :]

Sigh... I was the one caught in the troll-bait and the reason was the guy's implication that we were using Mass Effect as porn.

Same thing Challet said above, though challet said it in a more polite and roundabout way.

Which shows me they are people that think seeing one or two kisses and two fully clothed adults laying side by side on a bed is.. pr0n... i.e. 14 year olds or deeply sheltered people :P

Let me just say that Mass Effect romances are as much what happens during real life sex as the Mass Effect gunfights are  what happens in a real life war zone.

And for people who do want "sex" or "war" or pretty much anything, the World Wide Web has it all in spades, in many different formats, flavors and without clothes B)

So that is how we knew the poster was pretty young. I also knew he was a troll because of the insulting way he tried to protray my need for more character development in an RPG.

@Hyrule_Gal (Love that name btw!)

Well, Chris tweeted about the #SaveThane package (in which the "For an option" poster was included), and the tone used was... tbh I don't know exactly what to think of it myself.

The Thane plushie is still travelling (as a matter of fact he is currently under my care :D), the Thane fanbook is still being worked on; Proofreading,+ Myth's essay.

So in short; we are still going strong.

Also the #SaveThane initiative now exist on facebook/da/tumblr as well (check Squeegee's sig) :wizard:

The poster looks fantastic! And I'm glad the book is still being worked on, I saw an early form of it and was very impressed by all the hard work. Can't wait to see it get even better! And you have the Thane plushie?! Have you taken him anywhere nice yet? Posted Image

*edit*

Also I'm glad things are still going strong. With the EC out the way (so no one can tell us LI issues are trivial compared to fixing the ending) hopefully the other problems with the game can be remedied.
