At least you Thane fans are still sticking around. I miss the old Jacob thread. Sure, we were a bit shallow, and no, we weren't the biggest group around, but dammit, we were HAPPY! Now the thread is constantly on life support, the fan group is deleted, and there's nothing to even be remotely thankful for. You guys at least have eachother.

For what it's worth, power to you all. If you cause enough of a stink, maybe Bioware will do something to ease the pain of being a Jacob fan too.

Though I'm reminded of a Garrus quote: "Just followed your example, Commander. Make enough noise, and somebody will eventually come over to see what all the fuss is about. Not that they'll actually DO anything about it..."

I plan on making a stink out of myself not just for Thane, but also Jacob (Truth be told I want make a stink for Samara/Miranda/Jack as well). I'm also sad to see the dispersion of the other Jacob fans.
And dang, I didn't know that the Jacob group got deleted. If anyone wants, I could create a new one.
I guess for whatever it is worth, you'll always have me as a fellow Jacobmancer.

I'm sorry to hear the fan group is deleted! I too support the Jacob fans along with the other ME 2 LI fans, I hope we raise a really big stink so they will fix the mess they did with Thane & Jacob,Jack,Miranda etc.! *hugs*

@Jacobmacers.. hugs. We know your pain. Jacob was such an honest and principled guy in ME2, he would never do what he did in ME3!

I will keep fighting on for Thane, even if it is just to annoy Bioware. Payback for the TROLOLOL they gave me with Thane. And we also fight for the other mishandled romances.

*accepts internet hugs* Thanks guys. I know it all rags on you, too. No characters in all of Mass effect got a shorter end of the stick than romanced Thane/Jacob. Unromanced, their character arcs still need some improvement, but they aren't supremely godawful.

Really, I can't imagine a way that Bioware could have made the ending of the Jacob romance any worse, and I mean that sincerely. If he was killed off Kal'Reeger-style, it couldn't have been worse. If he had turned out to be a Reaper husk from the moment you met him in ME2, it couldn't have been worse. Edit: And yes, I know just how creepy that sounds. But it's TRUE.

Thane, for all the flaws in his romance in ME3, lets you know that he cared for Shepard and that the relationship meant something to him. "I've missed you, Siha." is better than anything Jacobmancers got. But his romance wasn't given near enough recognition or acknowledgment by the universe as a whole. Only Thane(and Shepard when she's with Thane) acknowledge it at all. If Thane HAD to die(and I don't think it should have been a certainty if he was romanced), then the player should damn well have had a chance to vent about it in-universe. and there sure as hell wasn't near enough of a chance for Shepard to say anything in relation to it.

I still refuse to accept that Jacob in ME3 is the same guy from ME2 when romanced. Just as I'm sure you guys feel the same about Thane, given your(perfectly valid) arguement that Thane still wanted to live at the end of ME2, and wasn't nearly as at peace with his death as ME3 showed, at least when romanced. Neither of them make sense as characters if romanced.

I mean, my canon FemShep lost Thane, and still ended up with Kaidan. Beleive it or not, this was planned before ME3's release. And no, this Shep did not have a relationship with Kaiden in ME1. I had panned for Thane to be the one to wake her from her own 'battlesleep', and make her realize that her life meant something, and that she was worthy of happiness. But it would have been nice if that could have changed Shepard's dialogue when Kaidan asked for a relationship.

Something like:
S: "Kaiden, I'm not sure how much I have left to give. Losing Thane..."
K: "Wasn't your fault. That was all Cerberus."
S:"I know. And I knew that he was dying when I met him, but*voice breaks*"
K: "Hey, you want me to back off, give you space, I will. Just say the word."
Then either "Yes, it's just too soon for me, Kaidan." or "No, no I want you to stay."
I mean, there could have been a whole dialogue where Kaidan asked about Thane, what he was like, what he meant to Shepard. Missed chance there, Bioware. Missed chance.

Sorry for the big post there, people, but for some reason I'm feeling pretty vindictive about the Jacob/Thane situations tonight. Some days, I dont' even think about them. But when I do, it makes me feel mentally unhealthy. I mean here I am, whining and moaning about fictional characters. Bah, maybe I whould play some Dragon Age 2. the LIs in that game don't completely change some some bizarre reason. At least they have explainations(Anders getting possesed by Justice comes to mind).

I get what you are saying. I'm planted firmly in the treatment/cure camp when it comes to Thane, but even then I do think there should be more in-verse recognition regarding his death (which imo should be optional) for those who do want "le tragic death".

And even if I personally would not go with choosing Kaidan after Thane, I do understand what you are saying.

And it's true, there should have been recognition of a previous relationship if you move on after they die (imo this should also have happened if they died during the SM).

I mean, player choice is always good, yes?
What one chooses another one doesn't. And that makes these stories great.
You make your own story and it doesn't make mine any less valid.

Shame BW forgot that part and dropped balls all over the place instead.

(I swear, with the amount of balls dropped in ME3, it feels like I'm wading my way through a ball pit. And that at any second a new ball will firmly be thrown and hit my head)
