I get what you are saying. I'm planted firmly in the treatment/cure camp when it comes to Thane, but even then I do think there should be more in-verse recognition regarding his death (which imo should be optional) for those who do want "le tragic death".

And even if I personally would not go with choosing Kaidan after Thane, I do understand what you are saying.

And it's true, there should have been recognition of a previous relationship if you move on after they die (imo this should also have happened if they died during the SM).

I mean, player choice is always good, yes?
What one chooses another one doesn't. And that makes these stories great.
You make your own story and it doesn't make mine any less valid.

Shame BW forgot that part and dropped balls all over the place instead.

(I swear, with the amount of balls dropped in ME3, it feels like I'm wading my way through a ball pit. And that at any second a new ball will firmly be thrown and hit my head)

Exactly. And I did have another Shepard ready to go, willing to go to most any length to save Thane. She was a hotheaded, renegade vixen who 'likes bad boys', as she said to her yoeman. Plus, she'd already killed Kaidan in ME1, so she would be committed, as it were, since she's willing to cross species borders but not gender ones. Now, her save is sitting in my hard drive, gathering dust, waiting to see if Bioware does something to rectify their mistake. Just like my Jacobmancing Shep. I can't bring myself to play her save, as I would either have to kill Jacob in the SM, or never meet him in ME3. Playing through Jacob's ME3 mission with an unromanced Shepard still makes my blood boil. God only knows what would happen if I brought Sonja there....

*sigh* That's two of my favorite FemSheps that I'll probably never play if things keep going as they are. Two of my most kickass Shepards ever. Everytime I play a Shepard came out OK with their LI, I'm drawn always drawn back to those two. I don't like playing as ManShep much anymore, given how many favors he gets in the romance department. I mean, all the female LIs are very lovely ladies, but FemShep is soooo much hotter....

Edit: ooooo, top pic. It's been a while! Let me see.....*image search on Yahoo for 'Thane'* Here we go. This ought to do:

I'm with you in the "not importing" club. I can't bring myself to import my Jacobmancer into ME3 either and I was rather fond of my Kim Shepard, the Renegon Solider who wanted to spill drinks and get loud with Jacob *Deep Sigh*.Posted Image

And I quit my Thanemancer  (my favorite Ivy Shepard) playthrough after you-know-what...Posted Image
(I'm still holding out hope for both Ivy and Kim though!)

And that pic... Oh my it brings back memories...good memories that is!

Damn. 9 Thanemancing Sheps. No wonder you support a cure.

So, getting us back to more happy thoughts. Let's assume for a minute that Thane is cured, or at least Kepral's is delayed for a while, enough time that a cure MAY be found.

So if your Thanemancing Shepard(s) lived, what would life be like, with the war over? Chances are that kids(natural ones, anyway) are out of the question, biology being what it is. What are Sheaprd and Thane to do with themselves now?

This was always the problem with my canon FemShep and Thane. Everytime she looked in the future, she couldn't see anything. Thane was her present, but not her future. My other Thanemancer, on the other hand, didn't give a **** about the futre. She was all about good tiems and kicking ass. Maybe they would form a partnership, taking out criminal syndicates in the Terminus for a decade or two. I don't know.

What about your Shepards?

Edit: Your. Fail.

@ Emerald Thanks! and yeah we do need a laugh or two sometimes! ♥

@Caston My Shepards future was always Shepard and Thane work for the Alliance but they only take work when they want to and they live out in the Desert and have no bills, everything is paid for,and have 3 kids biologically of course...(there are miracles out there)..yeah I know that's so girly...but hey that's my Headcannon...plus I have a head cannon of Shepard helping Thane and Feron look for a nice desert planet for their people..it's an Awesome Adventure lol!

I like your shepard that likes good times and kicking ass, I have one renegade shep who is like that herself! ^^

In Ivy's case, they'd probably settle down on Intai'Sei (Finally! Dat desert!) and just rest.
(For awhile at least, I have not figured out if Ivy would downright retire or not yet)

As far as the "pitter-patter of tiny feet" are concerned, well, let's just say that BW aren't the only ones capable of Space Magic. My headcanon has quite good chunk of it I admit.
(What don't look at me like that...Oh, ok, I'm a sap! Guilty as charged! :P)

I think my Shep and Thane would keep fighting the good fight. Just 'cause the big bad Reapers are gone doesn't mean there aren't smaller wars to be fought, or fewer wrongs to be righted.

In my head canon, after they've "retired" from the active life, they'll have houses in a desert, and in a slightly less heat-baked area (for summers). And there won't be any children because (sorry guys!) interspecies breeding is just a little too space magicy for me..... :o
And Kolyat will visit, and bring his kids, who will call them Grandpa Thane and Amma Elen.

(this is actually going to be the epilogue in my ME3 fic that I haven't written yet)

I think I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again because this post resonated with me.  One of the reasons why I was so mad about my Thane import was because it meant the story of one of my favourite shepards could not continue. The treatment of her LI was so insulting and immersion breaking that her personal “arc” came to a grinding halt and she’s been stuck in a virtual limbo ever since.

And the thing is she wasn’t even my canon shep . My canon shep got her perfect romance with Garrus and ended her story with some semblance of hope. So why am I so mad if I’m primarily a Garrusmancer?

Because there was something about THIS shepard that I was very fond of. I wasn’t doing a “perfect” playthrough with her like I was with my canon shep.  The choices she made weren’t dependent on what would give me the best import but what would SHE as a character would do. Because of this she was more flawed, more gritty, more complex, she made hard choices that didn’t always have a rosy outcome. Most importantly, out of all my shepards she was the one I put most of my heart into “creating”, that’s why I loved playing her so much. Now I’m mad because the shepard I had put the most effort into (in terms of creating a personality and developing her character) has an incomplete story.  Thane was a big part of her story and now it wouldn’t do her character (or Thane) justice to continue playing if things remain as they are.

All five of my Fem!Sheps ended up with Thane (only one of them even HAD a fling before him, with Kaidan....the rest had no LI involvement in ME1). I also have five M!Sheps as well (got them together with pretty much every available LI in ME and ME2), but every single one of them (and it should be noted that my first Shep I ever finished was man!Shep) considered Thane their Brother-in-Arms. Every single one of them would have done whatever they could to help extend/save Thane's life. Thane sort of took the place of Wrex and Ashley, come ME2. He was close friend and confidant....and they looked to him for guidance. So not having a choice for Thane with friended/loyal BroShep, also meant I couldn't import any of them. Wow.....I soooo wasn't BW target market for this game...heh! But they still got my money......sigh.

As for Caston's question HAD there been a choice for Thane.....Most of them would have continued to work....righting wrongs and the likes. Cate Shepard would have "commandeered" the Normandy, fought the good fight, then given the ship to Joker and EDI (and anyone else who wished to stay aboard), and would have settled in the Mojave Desert. No kids for any of my Thanemanced Sheps (except, I could see Evan Shepard and Thane adopting a few orphaned children....of a variety of races). As for Ulee Shepard (aka PDS), she and Thane would have ended up much like your "kickin' arse" Shep/Thane.....with a sprinkling of Gin....for good measure. *smirk!* She is the one Shep who gives Thane the giggles (uncontrollable....nearly wetting himself kinda gafaws) :D

@CastonFolarus Had Thane survived, most of my thanemancing sheps would have continued to be a spectre, they had their status reinstated in ME2 (.. that was another thing I hated in ME3, shepard should not have been so alliance focused...). Thane and Shepard would have been righting wrongs across the galaxy. I guess they may have settled down later, any children would be adopted.

I can't play ME3 at all, as seeing Thane, whether romanced or not, really pisses me off. I tried to start a new game with no import and found that just the knowledge of BWs dismissive treatment of previously important characters was enough to ruin the experience for me. My anger is definitely compounded by the treatment of Jacob as the shafting of two femshep LIs speaks very loudly of them choosing to cut their female fanbase loose.

@CastonFolarus
I had about 6 Shepards. One with Garrus and one with Kaidan. The rest were for Thane.
I've only completed two playthroughs. The one for Garrus which was very nice and one of my shepards for Thane. I have no plans on finishing the one for Kaidan and I can't do the other playthroughs for Thane. I've just lost interest in this game.

I agree that Shepard was too pro Alliance for me. I hated how I had no control over that or anything els Shepard said. Maybe one would have stayed with the Alliance, but the rest would have left them behind. Most of them would have continued to be spectres. They would have all stayed with Thane and traveled around the galaxy helping out where they could. They would have eventually settled down. Maybe gone to live on some desert planet like Intai'sei and lived out their lives.

When I think about it it makes me angry that they did this to both Thane and Jacob. Especially since I know this would have never happened to MShep.

@CastonFolarus: I have only one Shep in which I replayed a few times to ensure I had my ideal perfect file for ME3.

Wow, I can't believe how badly I was screwed in the end. None of the choices I made did not count in ME3. I wouldn't have romanced anyone if it wasn't for Thane.

I found the other romances ethier boring or immature.

I just love you guys so much! As much as I love BSN...well okay I loathe BSN, but I love our threads...I enjoy my witty (maybe snarky) banker on twitter these days.

At least you Thane fans are still sticking around. I miss the old Jacob thread. Sure, we were a bit shallow, and no, we weren't the biggest group around, but dammit, we were HAPPY! Now the thread is constantly on life support, the fan group is deleted, and there's nothing to even be remotely thankful for. You guys at least have eachother.

For what it's worth, power to you all. If you cause enough of a stink, maybe Bioware will do something to ease the pain of being a Jacob fan too.

Though I'm reminded of a Garrus quote: "Just followed your example, Commander. Make enough noise, and somebody will eventually come over to see what all the fuss is about. Not that they'll actually DO anything about it..."

you're right...well at least all this things were bad, i'm some kind of happy of that, because if bioware haven't struggled with thanes romance or better his whole arc...i would never become active on bsn and i would never met this wonderfull people all around the world :wizard: better than nothing, right? *sigh*
just want to see the optimistic side. we're all so active and cheerful in here..i wish i could posten more often...but well...so much things to doo:mellow:

Okay, so completely off topic...

I want to move to Europe. Any suggestions for the non-EU person here? I really want to go to Ireland or Scotland. If I had any family tree stuff on my fathers side, I'd try for Denmark. Waiting for the stuff on my mum's side to see if there's any roots in France.

Other than that, am I totally screwed?

It's just rather hard to get a foot in the door if you aren't an EU person. You think they could at least admit the commonwealth countries too!

Definitely not France or Spain though. France is crazy expensive and you already know about Spain. I really want to go to Ireland. It's the whole citizenship thing though.
