I think the poll results looked good. They seemed positive to me. Hopefully BioWare will take it seriously.

Bioware needs to understand if they don't give us an option to save him....it's not gonna look good on their part! What they did was cruel to Thane and to us!

Let's keep fighting Ya'll!!!!

I really like her work.
That last one is so sad.

Bioware knows they screwed up. The still want to live in the delusion that it was a perfect game.

@JCEW I agree! They think it's okay to give us all that false hope then give us the middle finger and kill Thane...well BW right back atcha *gives middle finger* I ain't buying jack crap from your company anymore if you don't give us that option to save him!....hehe sorry I'm in such a ranting mood right now lol!
Btw I think Jupiterjeter said with the last pic is what should have happened in ME 3 a chance for him to survive...so it's him recovering from surgery I guess in the last pic! ^^

@krukow Hmmm good question! I like it though I kinda wish we had that hairstyle in ME 3! ^^

Shepard just loved Jack's hair so much she had to have it. I looks a little different though. I do think it looks cute.

@Roxy
I know how you feel. I don't intend on buying this latest DLC.
I thought it was suppose to be the way his death scene should have gone, but I don't know now.
I wish that could have been Thane recovering in the game.

Not sure if anyone saw this today :(

ME twitter in response to Squee's tweet:

Squee - @masseffect We are coming to the end of August. Since March, we've been wanting to #SaveThane. Nothing has changed, even after five months.

ME - @Squeegee83 We are very proud of the game we have made. There are no plans to make any changes.

I just saw this today and I immediately said to myself, I am not their fan but a map. I have been here once before with them, this ship has sailed a long time ago. They had their chance to justified themselves properly, they failed to do so.

Once again, I am not their fan but a map they can use to do the right thing.

Yeah, as far as being a Bioware fan at this point, I still say I am. But with qualifications. I still love the Dragon Age devs. They actually visit the forums and talk with their fanbase on a regular basis. When they made Dragon Age II, there were a lot of flaws. And after a few months, when all the fire had died down a bit, they responded with honest, conciliatory remarks. They made it clear that their fans mattered to them, and that they were committed to rectifying some of the problems that people saw in their game. They recognized that a lot of the critisism that was directed at their game was directed out of love and respect for the franchise they created. And people still loved aspects of their game, but they felt it was a mixed bag. As far as handling the critisism, the Dragon Age devs did pretty well. They went out and talked to people. They asked about the problems fans saw in the game, what they liked and didn't like. And fans could tell that they cared about their fanbase's wants as well as their own vision of what Dragon Age should be.

But as far as Mass Effect, I haven't seen that same level of community relations, so it's hard at this point to care for Mass Effect anymore. I'm just not seeing the devs giving two ****s about my opinion as a fan, so why should I even bother? Jacob was one of my favorite characters, and I feel as if whoever handled his development, whoever made the decision to make him the cheating jackass he was in ME3, took a huge dump on his character, and his fanbase. And they have given no explainations, no reasons why they felt this was something to be 'proud' of. And they did the same thing to Thane fans, but the turd just had a little more glitter, IMO. And since then, Bioware has seemed to have this blatantly ignorant face about this. They are just plain ignoring the people who felt they made a set of poor writing decisions.

Sure, they adressed the ending-bashers, but I've yet to see any dev, at any level, give a serious, empathetic explanation about Jacob's treatment in ME3, and they've given only a few peripheral ones on Thane. So the Mass Effect devs have lost me as a fan. I loved(past-tense here) playing Mass Effect, and I still have good memories. And my two main Shepards made out OK with their stories. But I feel no call to play the rest, since I know that their stories shake out pretty suckily. So why would I play them? If this is how the Mass effect devs want to treat their fans, I'm not sure it's worth being one anymore.

I mean, they just don't seem all that interested in what their fans are saying. Whatever concerns, however valid they may or may not be, are just not seeming to be a priority with them. The Extended Cut was a nice conciliatory gesture in some respects, but it didn't adress a fair deal of the complaints. Course, the ending didn't bother me nearly as much as Bioware's treatment of thier ME2 characters. These were characters we spend an entire game getting to know, and while I hardly expected squadmate status or anything, I know I sure as hell expected better.

And all I'm seeing from Bioware is "Well, you're not getting anything better. Deal with it."

So I guess all I have to say in return is "Ok. Me and my wallet will be over by the Dragon Age forums. Have a nice day."

You know, why haven't they explained what they did to Jacob? I seriously doubt Jacob was THAT unpopular that it was okay to make him a borderline stereotype.I guess BW is happy his fans took themselves off the boards so they didn't have to deal with it.

I can't believe I semi defended BW before ME3 came out regarding Jacob. Some on a race and culture forum complained about fans thoughts of Jacob and I said, well he was up against Garrus/Thane.

As a black woman, I made excuses for BW. Because I trusted them in how they dealt with ME1/2. Now I'm ashamed I did so.

As for being a fan, I say I'm... on the fence. I'm watching closely what they do, but if they **** this up, or rather once they **** this up (I'm in a really depressed mood right now) I'm be dumping them once and for all. Uninstall Origin and ME3, throw DA to the darkspawn, and let NeverWinter rot in its own plague infested sewers.

And yeah, I defended BW when DA2 came out. Granted it wasn't as good as DA:O but it wasn't bad! It was a new style, one that if they had been able to get new maps and stop reusing the dungeons may not have been so noticable. Yeah, it had a lot of flaws, but it was a learning experience that did a lot of things right as well. Like, you know, Fenris!

But ME3.... Thane.... Jacob... I have never been so disappointed in people in my life!

I have been a BioWare lover since I was old enough to have a mouse in my hands. I have literally played every game they've made except for three. And Mass Effect 3 was the only game that I truly felt that they just didn't care. It really broke my heart to play 3 and then go back to play the first two and see such a huge difference. It was seriously one of the most depressing experiences of that year.

*pats on the back* I hear ya. Still, no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Everything I've seen out of the dragon age devs after they released DA2 has been pretty good. And KOTOR is still an awsome game.

It's only Mass Effect 3(and now 1 and 2, through association) and its devs that I have serious issues with. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, though. Keep Neverwinter Nights around if you still enjoy it. You don't have to like everything a game company makes.

Still, it was nice, for a while.Image IPB

@caston - Very well said.  I will find it very interesting if they ever communicate with us on the whole Jacob debacle.  Also, I am much like you with the endings.  I never saw them first hand, since I never finished the game (viewed them on YouTube; both originals and EC endings), and even if I didn't care for them, they were never the reason I came on this board to rant and rabble.  Nor were the endings responsible for why I quit playing the game.  So much of what was in the game that I played, was immersion breaking and nonsensical, that I just couldn't continue on.  The treatment of some very beloved characters (primarily the ME2 exsquaddies), but also the treatment of Shepard (and in particular, FemShep....).  Shepard became some strange entity that I could not relate to at all.  The lines delivered, the emotions conveyed when I should have been directing such input....*shiver*.  It just dropped me like a lead weight, out of immersion.

As for BW in general; I am cautious.  I will play ME and ME2.  I own them, and I enjoy playing them (though if I start thinking to much about what is on that me3 disk, it does depress me a bit).  For the most part, I have been doing fairly well at ignoring the contents of me3 (helpful that I didn't ever finish it), so going back to play the first to games is doable for me.  But what of me3?  At this time, I do NOT foresee me ever finishing it, nor will I buy anything in this franchise again, unless certain steps are made to add alternate paths to certain characters outcome.  And a genuine effort to give emotional agency BACK to the player, for the handling of their Shepards.  Do I see this actually happening?  Not really.  Do I still hope?  Pinch me, but yes.

Even Dragon Age will probably not be an immediate buy for me.  Some of the words said by DA teammembers in regards to some of the treatment of my favorite ME characters, was disheartening.  And knowing my dumb luck, if they ever did decide to pull the ultra angsty-angst card, or the "so real it hurts" card, with new beloved characters, I probably would unknowingly pick those very characters they decided to pull that ***t with.Image IPB  So an air of caution.  I will read SOME spoilers in regards to characters (especially LI's), and go from there.

@yermogi - Hi stranger!Image IPB

@everyone -- Not to get this thread off topic, but I know several of you in here are DA fans. I'd just like a quick opinion, and if you want to chime in, but keep it out of the thread, please PM me :)

I'm playing DAO right now (we already had a copy lying around; I have not broken my oath to myself and spent money on new BW products, lol), and I'm curious as to why DA2 sold so poorly in comparison to DAO? It sold less than half of the copies as DAO, according to VGChartz.

What was the deal?

Many opinions about DA2. I enjoyed DA2; very good characters, a dash of humor, and though not perfectly implemented, I liked the dialogue wheel. The cons for me were to many fetch quests, friendship/rivalry system a bit....mmmm....off. Not terrible, but needs some fine tuning (oddly enough, the whole "reputation" meter from me3 would have potentially worked well in DA2). Also the repetetive maps...didn't bother me much the first couple times I played (was sort of used to that phenom from playing so many hack n' slash games......they are notorious for reused maps...heh!), but eventually got tired of it. The last Act also felt stunted; not "complete". That expansion they were planning would have really made a difference, in my opinion.

As for DAO, I love it. Though it to has it's flaws. I have finished DA2 more times than DAO (about 11 play throughs for DA2 and 6 for DAO), but have actually spent the same amount of hours in both games. DA2 has always been easier for me to finish faster. DAO I always take my time, and pay a LOT of attention to how I role play my Wardens. (Plus.....the boat-load of Mods for DAO are incredible...yay!) :D

Not sure if this was the sort of thing you were looking for, but there is simply my thoughts and opinions.

DA2 was very poorly received by the fans and had much less replay value than DAO imo. I did love it though. The poor sales resulted in the cancellation of an expansion.

As for whether I'm a fan of bioware, the answer is NO. Bioware is the only gaming company who I ever was a fan of but they lost that with ME3. I will play DA3 second hand or (at a stretch) cut price on PC. Like coldi I'll be spoiling the story arcs to ensure there's no nasty surprises (games are all about fun for me). Although I still have much respect for the DA team, I have no intention of funding a company that can treat its fans the way they have. I will not be buying any EA games new either, not for me, and not as gifts to my partner or nephews.

I actually liked DA2 better than DAO. We Thanemancers are into subtle stories and clues and deep characters so I think you will like it. It certainly isn't the story / character murdering bs that ME3 is. DAO is very good too.
Both are very enjoyable just don't expect DA2 to have anything more than a few cameos from DAO characters.
