Protesting the Poor Treatment of Thane Krios' Romance

I'm at the point where I'm falling asleep over a book at 7:30 and at 9:30 in bed and wide awake. I'm normally a hit the pillow and out kinda girl. This is doing my head in. It's been almost 6 weeks and I wanna sleeeeeep! And yeah, 6 weeks after 28 years of smoking...i know, but I like to sleep.
A book as in...it's so boring you have to fall asleep? Maybe it's what I'm reading before I crash. Cuz maybe the hawt-as-hell vamps (that do NOT sparkle) are making my brain jump around a bit too much.

OTOH that plot at the ending smells and is the same as what's on a 2 year old nappie

However, I want to finish the Thane chapter SPESIFICALLY for you guys and I may release it on Fan-Fiction seperatly from ME:Aftermath.
Now, I layed out my plan a few pages ago but is there anything spesific You guys are interested in seeing? And, hang on, I think I might post what I have already written.
Here we go...
Chapter 4
Commander Shepard looked around Huerta Memorial. He had told Shepard in the email to meet him in the lobby around one-thirty. He would be getting out of physical therapy around that time. Maybe his appointment had been running late?
They hadn’t talked in months. Spending six months under Alliance lock-and-key had ruined most of Shepard’s social life, as he often joked with himself. The two would have a lot to catch up on. Perhaps speaking over some tea at Apollo’s Café would be a good idea? It would be like old times back when they’d become friends before destroying the Collector’s Base.
“Shepard,” a deep yet soft voice called from the floor above the lobby. Shepard looked up to see Thane’s green eyes staring down at him. The two couldn’t help but smile when their eyes met.
“Nice to see you again, Thane.” Shepard yelled to the drell.
Thane grabbed the railing and pulled himself over the side of the balcony. In an impressive show of acrobatics, he crossed the room without touching the floor or disturbing anything except maybe those who watched his display.
Shepard clapped, obviously impressed with his friend, as probably intended.
“I am glad to see you made it. You are well I hope?” Thane inquired. The commander pulled the green-scaled man into a friendly hug.
“I’m fine but I’ve been more worried about your condition. I’m surprised you still have such agility.”
Thane cleared his throat, thought it did little to make his voice clear. “As I told you when we first met, I would be fine for another eight to twelve months before your labor intensive job requirements would be too much for me; It has only been nine,” the drell corrected.
Shepard raised an eyebrow. “And that wasn’t laberous?”
“But, more on that later,” He dodged. “ I think I shall treat you to tea at a café on the Precidium.”
“No no no. I’m buying, my treat.” Shepard insisted.
“I can tell you will not give up on this so easily.” Thane said with a smile. “As you wish.”
***
“I’ll take a cup of Earl Grey.” Shepard told the asari waitress.
Thane looked at Shepard. “Like old times then?” He turned back to the waitress. “Herbal tea please.”
She smiled at Thane and walked away to get their drinks.
“I remember when you first tried tea with me back on the Normandy.”
Shepard laughed with a wide grin across his face. “Yeah, I coughed and my voice sounded like a vorcha.”
“And now, it seems you are hooked on the style of drink,” the drell commented. “Though, perhaps I shouldn’t have allowed you to try a flavor of my people. We enjoy our drinks scalding hot; it helps ease pain and reminds us of past memories.
As Shepard looked around, he became lost in the Citadel’s view. “Yeah,” he stated without much thought.
The Precidium was bright and full of movement; life; energy. It looked like a normal day. Asari went out on walks with their spouses and their blue children. A human argued with a turian over something at a shop. Barla Von, the volus information broker and banker, hissed with deep breaths as he delt with a customer.
The sight was disconcerting to Shepard. These people were oblivious that there was a war out in the galaxy. The end of everything could be just days away and everyone was skipping down the halls like a small child with a grenade. He completely disagreed with the phrase ‘Ignorance was bliss’.
A cough from Thane returned his thoughts to now arrived tea. Smiles appeared on their faces once the smells hit their noses. Each eagerly took a sip from their drink. As the familiar taste ran down his throat, it reminded Shepard of simpler times; like discussing things with Thane or drinking night with Kasumi on the Normandy before it became an Alliance Ship.
Thane’s voice once again pulled Shepard out of his own mind. “Now, we have much to discuss,” he started. “I have some news regarding my-“ Thane paused, looking for the right word. “Condition.”
“I was going to ask how you’re doing. You seemed fine at the hospital. So, what’s going on?”
The drell seemed distant for a moment. It was near impossible to tell when Thane was deep in thought or reliving his memories. Shepard couldn’t imagine what that could be like. Then again, he didn’t have a ton of pleasant memories in his thirty-four year life to look back on. Mindoir was his childhood but he couldn’t look back at that without thinking of when the Batarians attacked. His entire team except for Corpral Toombs was killed by Thresher Maws on Akuze. And Torfan had been a bloody nightmare, literally. There was a reason he’d be given the nickname of ‘The Butcher’ after the mess.
Thane had only been deep in thought. “When I first joined you on the Normandy, I was accepting of my death; I was content with the life I had lived despite the sins I had committed,” the drell began. “Your medical professional, Doctor Chakwas, examined me after my recruitment. I was surprised to find she didn’t confuse Kepral’s Syndrome as an issue with Oxygen not forming properly in the lungs as many doctors confuse I for. She recommended myself as a lung transplant patient as to extent my life span. At the time, I was accepting of my death.”
Thane took a sip of his drink. “But then you and I became friends. You helped me achieve more than I could have thought possible. I was reunited with Kolyat and cleansed of my sins without death as my redemption. Thoughts and emotions began to trouble me as I found myself creating a life with Kolyat and yourself instead of reviewing my previous life as I’d done prior. The death I had accepted was no longer a death I could be happy with; I wanted to live again because you gave me reason.”
“After you turned yourself into the Alliance, I stayed with Kolyat here on the Citadel for quite some time Doctor Chakwas found me some time after she had received a position at Huerta.”
Shepard interrupted. “Thane, I’m not entirely sure where this is going.”
“Then I shall make my message clear,” he said simply. Thane reached down to his leather jacket and slowly undid it. After only a few seconds, Thane had removed his jacket and his bare chest was revealed to Shepard. Unlike his head, the drell torso was very similar to a humans. Shepard wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be seeing. Then, he noticed a very faint pink line; a small scar on his friend’s chest. It was obviously the mark of a doctor; of surgery.
Shepard looked up at Thane’s face; a glimmer of hope in the commander’s eyes.
“It is as it seems. My life has been extended,” the assassin finally stated plainly. “I wish to join you on the Normandy.”
“That’s great Thane!” Shepard exclaimed while getting up to hug his friend.
Thane hugged him back. “So, you accept my offer?”
A frown appeared on Commander Shepard’s face. “Now, wai-“
“I have already thought this through to the fullest extent. I am entirely at your disposal,” Thane interrupted. He put his arms behind his back and stood straight; a professional.
“What about Kolyat? Didn’t you want to live for him?”
“I want to live for him but there is no point in that if the galaxy is consumed by the Reapers. I wish to continue removing what wickedness I can from here. Kolyat will be fine her on the Citadel. Since we stopped him from following my path up the mountain, He has become attracted to a helping the needy here on the Citadel. I have helped him find a shelter run by a religious order where he shall be safe during our journey.”
Shepard put his hand to his chin and sighed. “And Kepral’s Syndrome?”
“The disease is not cured,” Thane clarified. “The lung transplant only extended my life. I shall be able to fight and perform strenuous activity for nearly two additional years on top of what time I had before the transplant. I will have to re-attain the disease for it to begin taking a toll on me. My body will no longer move after five to seven years from now. By then, I will expect the Hanar or someone else will have created a cure to the illness if the Reapers have not won by then.”
Shepard was satisfied. “Are you ready to join me right now? Do you have your stuff?”
“I would like nothing more than to join you right now, but my doctor requests that I have a few more sessions of Physical Therapy before he will release me,” he said. “I do not believe you are ready to have another joining you presently in your current objective. I hear you are brokering a peace between the Krogan and the Council Races?”
Shepard sat down and finished his tea. Thane did the same. “Yeah. We needed to take care of some business of a Korgan group that disappeared. We found the Rachni Queen out there and the entire species is building forces. We were making our way back to Tuchanka before Primarch Victcus told us of some Turian team getting lost.”
The commander looked at his watch. “In fact, the Normandy should be ready to go in about and half hour so I should be getting back.”
“You will have to tell me about this encounter with the Rachni at another time then.”
Shepard left a credit chit on the table and the two men walked towards the nearest elevator.
“Then I shall join you when you next return here, presumably after you have made an alliance with the Krogan.” Thane put out his hand for Shepard to shake.
“It’s a deal.”
***
It had been two weeks since Shepard had his lunch with Thane on the Citadel. Brokering peace with the Krogan had come at the cost of Mordin’s life. His death was taking its toll on Shepard more than he’d like to admit but the Krogan and Turians joined the war with Capitan Kirahee ignoring orders from the salarian Counciler and sending the STG into battle.
The councilor had contacted Shepard after the Genophage cure had been released and requested a word with him on the Citadel about something. The only reason Shepard had accepted was because he was going to the Citadel anyways to pick up Thane.
The commander looked over the Life Support room on Deck Two. He’d spent the last several hours of their voyage cleaning the room and making sure it was ready for Thane to move in. When he’d started, There was countless crates just piled up inside. Now, the lights had been newly replaced and, with some help from EDI and Traynor, the air control for the room had been upgraded to keep the air dry for the drell. Everything was in place.
Joker’s voice came over the comm. “Commander, There’s a communication from Thane. He says its important. I think you’ll want to hear this.”
“Put him through,” Shepard ordered.
Joker’s voice was replaced by that of Thane’s.
“Shepard, The Citadel is under attack. Cerberus troops are everywhere and their in control of the docks. You will likely be shot down if you come close.” He explained quickly. From the sound of his voice, Thane must be on the move.
“What’s your status?” Shepard was thinking as quickly as he could. “Joker, don’t go through the relay till we have a plan.”
“Aye, aye sir,” replied the helmsman.
The assassin’s voice returned. “No, I had to evade their commandos at the hospital. They are destroying what supplies are there.”
A gun shot sounded loud over the speakers.
“I’m hiding in a Precidium apartment and taking out as many as I can.”
Shepard continued thinking. “Did Kaidan make it out? Is he with you?”
There was a lengthy pause.
“Answer me, Krios,” the commander ordered.
The pause continued. It was then broken by the sound of numerous gunshots. One. Two. ThreeFourFive. Six. Seven.
“I apologize Shepard. Several Cerberus operatives found me. I needed to take care of them silently,” the drell responded. Knowing him, all of those gun shots were from Cerberus. “Kaidan went off without me. He said he needed to find and protect the Council.”
“The salarian Councilor was going to meet us at C-Sec. He’ll be separated from Udina and the others. Thane, can you track him down and protect him?”
“I’m not sure what I can do. I’m not usually asked to protect a target,” his scratchy voice responded.
“You’re the only person I know who’s alive over there and can do this. I’ll meet up with you as soon as I can,” Shepard reassured his friend. “I’ll be there soon enough.”

I wish John Dombrow was the writer for Thane in ME3. He wrote Garrus, Javik ( I love Javik, he's one of the reasons ME3 isn't that bad for me..), Wrex and genophage. So the parts I liked about ME3 were all written by him. Imagine if Thane received the same love and talent.
There is one exception and I wonder why this happened. He also forgot about Thane. When Garrus talks about VS just after Thane's death.
Suddenly everyone forgot how to write when it comes to writing anything Thane related in ME3. What the hell happened?
As for the Leviathan, from what I've seen I think it is good and makes the ending a bit better. I was hoping for something more, but still, it was good.

Ya he managed to make EDI a tolerable squad mate.. if you forget about the previous EDI and fan service sexbots don't rub you the wrong way.. But to me it shows what a poor writer he is. He has no respect or appreciation for a character's back story and personality from the previous games and just writes bland fan service stuff that is shallow and flawed like the kai lame fight and EDI the sexbot. Both blatant giveaways to fanboys who want cool sexy ninja clad drama cheap thrills -.-

True, there probably was a "design-cue" for the artists resembling something like this:
"Edi: Needs to look humanoid and sexy".
And now that I've had my coffee, I remember something like that being written in the artbook.
Ugh...why? Humanoid = Ok. But sexy? :S
Imo, "Sexy" when it comes to women doesn't mean "ZOMG! Boobies and cameltoes!" at all.
It's definetely not the first thing I think of when someone says "an attractive woman".
(Not that "Peen and muscles" do the abovementioned for men either)
Sure, appearance has some role in terms of attraction, but it isn't the sole reason for it.
The "in your face" design angle only works when used sparingly and even then, one should, as a designer, be delicate in these matters. Context is the ultimate factor in this type of design, and it didn't fit in this instance.
I'm partially guilty of doing this occasionally when I'm designing a character (both male and female), the trick is to really figure out if the design "fits" the narrative if you know what I mean.
Edi is a clear case of way too much "Sexy", to the point that even her personality takes a dent from it. Which as many have pointed out previously, is a shame, because as a character, she is a lot more than that.
In short:
Wheras I don't have much problem with Edi getting a body as per se, the design could have been better and not gratutious (spelling?). And the narrative angle of the Joker x Edi thing was well, "Yuck" tbh.
What I meant by pointing out the above about the cameltoe, was that I doubt that it was Hepler alone who was responsible for the cameltoe, I guess I worded it a bit *derp* though.
(I hope I'm making sense with this drabble, my limits in English felt prevalent when I was writing this)

"That's Great to hear! ^^"
Was because Lance said:
"The version with a modified canon probably will keep him alive. "
Believe me I hate stories (especially the game) that has Thane die!
But tbh I thought Lance's story was a bit better than what we got in the first place...but I still would not be satisfied with Thane and FemShep getting that kind of treatment,I still would want or do want Thane to have a chance to live!
Hepler was an EPIC FAIL on Thane and so was Bioware!
EDI is just okay in my book...I think EDI becoming some sort of sexbot was totally wrong though imo!
