I didn't really care for him in ME3 though.  The constant badgering he gave Shepard about Cerberus just got annoying, and outside of a romance it didn't seem like he had much to say on the ship.

See, I had Ash in my first ME3 playthrough.  And oh my God.  I actually went back to save Kaidan on Virmire and replayed the entire goddamn series (except the endings) to rectify that.

And I think the number of conversations you get with the VS depends less on romance and more on how friendly you are.  I got two long conversations with Kaidan on the ship and lots of ambient.  I got exactly one conversation with Ash, and very little ambient.

That, unfortunately (if I remember reading correctly), is all you get with Ashley no matter what. Friend her/don't, romance her/don't, the ambient dialogue apparently is that limited with her. BTW, this isn't first hand knowledge, but I have lurked often in the Ashley thread (she is a favorite of mine), and it appears that this is the number one complaint from shippers and plain Ash fans alike.

Kaidan seems to be....hmmmm....more "fleshed" out than Ash. I do like them both though, so I'm glad that Kaidan was well written.

Ah, I was unaware of that.  Thanks for correcting my mistake.

I like ME1 Ash.  And I wanted her to stay that way, so for my canon FemShep playthrough, I offed her on Virmire.  The writing inconsistencies (in both quality and characterization) in a lot of these characters from game to game can be so goddamn jarring.

Too true.  Before I even knew that Thane's original writer was Ash's as well, I just couldn't help but like her in ME1.  I like that she was written in a way that sort of "polarizes", but without being over the top.  I'm agnostic at best, but I love that Chris L'Etoile wrote her as a Christian.  It's good to see variation in characters.....and I certainly wouldn't want all of them to be like me, my friends, or family in real life.  Differences are interesting, and even better when they are a bit more subtle. At least for me...Image IPB

I went and spoke to Kaidan most of the time with my non Kaidan romance Shepard. I got the conversations with him. Maybe it's just that I really wasn't interested in what he had to say. I didn't enjoy the conversation about whether TIM was once a good person once at all. I kept wondering why he is he asking Shepard of all people this question. The talk with him at lunch was nice. I just found myself enjoying the conversations with Garrus and Liara more.

From what I have heard Ashely didn't get much at all outside of the romance when it came to dialouge. That was a bit surprising.

TBH it's not all that surprising.  It happened in ME2 as well.  If you don't romance someone, you miss out on a lot of their dialogue.

I think they tried to fix it in ME3 for the squaddies, with mixed results.  Garrus, Tali, and Kaidan get plenty of dialogue romanced or not, and the dialogue is significantly different.  Ash has the same old problem from what you guys have tole me.  But with Liara, even though she gets a lot of dialogue, not a lot is romance unique.  That creates the problem of people who romanced her feeling like they didn't get a lot of unique content, and the rest of us trying to fend her off with a large stick.

It's surprising only because Ashley got so much dialogue in ME1. She had plenty to say even if you didn't romance her. ME3 comes around and she doesn't get much if not romanced. I always thought Ashley and Kaidan were in the same boat and would get the same amount of dailogue so I was a little surprised when I heard she didn't. Maybe it's because Kaidan is available for Mshep now or because he is a bit more popular than Ashley.

It's true about ME2, but I don't think it was a s bad. The difference between romanced and unromanced dialogue in ME3 seems to be pretty bad. In ME3 either you miss out on things or there is not difference between romanced and non romanced.

Poor Ashley she got shafted sooooooo bad, I liked her opinions and the fact she said it like she saw it, it was great. ME3 she says NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Liara I wanted to push her out the airlock.

While Ashley is not my favorite character I do think it's to bad that that happened to her.

Gears you know bioware would never let that happen to their baby. I still can't believe that she is the only one who can't die.

She can finally die at the beam if you have low EMS, right?

Yes, she can die on the beam run. But that isn't enough for some people.
A lot of characters can only die in the Suicide Mission, but since Liara didn't partake, she can't.

If she dies on the beam run how did she show up at the end of my game. Unles that's some kind of glitch.

Nope she's revived and alive and walks out regaurdless of low EMS. Happened on my very first playthrough she was dead saw her dead body and guess what she walks out at the very end of the game all fine and dandy.

More reasons for Liara being a writers pet and the people who would rather not see her ever again.
More reason for me being in favor of throwing her out the airlock.

Quit being ridiculous.
If that did happen, it's a glitch and it definitely wasn't written that way.

You can't go more than a few comments without expressing your hate for the character. Wouldn't it be more productive to spend time talking about the characters you do like?

I like Liara, ME1 Liara. After that she just was never the same. Not a kind natural character transformation either, ME2, took the warm sweet and dorky chick I romanced and turned her into this cold hearted loony chick with whacky moods shifts. ME3 took her and railroaded her down my throat in a very raping my throat sort of way, or raping my @ss sort of way.

As for being productive I am being productive just spewing forth like I always do, also came in here to ask you Thane ladies a question.

Someone told me if you take Kaidan on the Lesuss mission when you meet Samara he says "You two know each other? That's willllld!" and their choice of discribed how he said it made it sound soo much more great, "He sounded like a stoner pot head dude saying it."

Soooooooooo considering Kaidan is dead in my game, and I'm not about to put myself through ME3 again, anyone able to confirm this or better yet find me a vid of it?

EDIT also just wanted to say that had it been anyother character bother my Shep after his nightmares I'd have felt they were railroaded down my throat. Only Characters I wouldn't have minded would have been 1Samara my Sheps LI. 2.Kelly Chambers his confident. or 3.EDI's voice over the intercom would have been best. Instead I got the creepy blue ex-, continuely railroaded down my throat in a very rape way. Her whole role in ME3 was rail-roaded down my throat very rape like.

"Hey he she is do her, we know you wanna do her."

Also yes that did happen with her being alive, and I find it kind of hard to believe that Liara gets so many glitches, like Athyta (however it's spelled), the ME2 shadow broker unregerstering dialogue when it registers Feron alive, it registers it all but that one stupid dialogue of dumping her. And again in LotSB when you dump Liara right away in ME2 it contines to want you to hook up with her in the LotSB.
Then the ME1 PC glitches where it puts you in a romance by talking to her and being nice to her.

I'm going to say it like I see it there are waaaaaaaaaay to many of these glitches for Liara to be just by chance fluke deal, we don't get them with Kaidan or Ash, or Miranda, or Jack, or Kelly, or Tali, or Garrus, sooooooo nope it's not a fluke deal to me. It's by design evil sinister design.

Yes, he says that. I take vid clips just about everything in game. To me, he certainly didn't sound like a pot head and I guess who ever discribes it that way, doesn't like him in the first place. To me, Kaidan sounds more like awed, calm but awed. Which suits, by the way, since it's not really a place to start raving about it anyway. :)

Nope person who told me that likes Kaidan alot, so much he says in his headcanon Kiadan and Shep smoke pot whenever they can.  "Because he is clearly a stoner!" Hhahahahahhahahaha, dudes great and crakes me up. In fact that's the reason he chose Kaidan over Ash, "Because it is so hard to find a fellow pot head in ME" Didn't romance Liara, only romanced Miranda in ME2 and stayed with her in ME3. In case you haven't noticed this dude is half insane, me I'm full blown insane. He crakes me up. SO to him Kiadan always sounds like a stoner pot head.

ALSO Saw the new character spotlight thingamabob has Liara. *runs off to work on his own Samara:wub: one!*

Now I just don't know.
I guess I will say I'm not sure if Liara is still the only character who can't die.

AFAIK post-EC; Liara stays dead (so does other squadmates who dies on a low EMS beam-run).

It was a bug; the same happened to EDI if she died in Destroy pre-EC.
She'd walk out of the Normandy all fine and unscathed.

Well, high EMS = Survival of beam run squadmates.

I can't recall if high EMS also had the "EDI surviving Destroy Pre-EC bug" though. :/

I think, those who walk out of the Normandy was tied to wether said squadmate was an LI or/and if they were the one's you talked to/brought on missions the most.

I.e the bug was that the game probably didn't check the "If dead" variable correctly. Which was rectified in the EC.
