Having gone back to talk to people here and there a few times now, in-game, I have to say, the Thane dialogue is even more unfulfilling! The least they could have done was give us a few more dialogues...I can't go to the hospital on the Citadel without pausing to talk to him, if only to hear his voice, eventhough I know the dialogue won't have changed!

Though he is not protecting Kaidan in my case-Kaidan got killed in ME1 as far as my Sam Shepard is concerned-so at least, yay for not having to go through THAT dialogue!! :/

Besides she needs someone to hold her after those awful nightmares.

Hahaha! I can already see Femshep kidnapping Thane.

But really, I suppose the treatment of Thane in the game is much like the endings. The more you actually think about them the worse they get.

To make it all better, new conversation topics after every priority mission! And some snuggling of course

Gah!  Why did you all have to link to the extended dialog for Thane's death scene?  Now I'm all sad again.

I thought the prayer scene was very well done (especially with the 'she' for the end passage), but agree with your sentiments that a bit of altered dialog for the romancers would have made a huge difference.  Also, the timing was just really poor - getting to the Normandy and hearing nothing but happiness that Kaiden was back but absolutely no mention of Thane's death was a rather awful experience.

holy crap this is all depressing. why bother creating the ME2 characters in the first place if there was no intentions on following through? i'd have taken complete story arcs over multiplayer any day. maybe their "resources" would have been better used on content they'd already created and seeing it through rather trying to tack on something new?

Like all the resources that went into Diana Allers <_<. Seriously though, I want to play ME3 again but I just can't, knowing the way Thane was handled, especially his romance. It's too heartbreaking

Of course I imagine keeping in my cabin would be like it was in 2, I'd ring him up there, save the game and run off laughing, "Now you are in there forever!!!!" If I never pick up 3 again and believe 2 is the end then hey, he's still in there. I know some things can never be unseen but with enough denial they can be blocked out.

I'm glad you approve! It seems fairly in character to me, I honestly believe Thane would follow Shepard anywhere . Kidnap Thane on the Normandy for ME3!

EXACTLY  he should never have been a LI if this was always their plan.  What were they smoking????

I'm pretty sure Casey Hudson said in an interview (no idea of link) that they would not kill off a character that meant alot to fans (he was speaking generally) ...  I took it with a pinch of salt at the time, and was clearly correct to do so.

A couple of people have brought up the point, that if the writers (for ME3) had planned on Thane dying no matter what, they really should NOT have made him a LI's.  I don't regret romancing him, this is not my meaning. BUT, it actually seems cruel to setup a romance (and poorly executed/non-existed in ME3), just to kill him for what...drama??  People die all the time, this is not news.  EVERYONE at some point will lose those that they love, because no one is immortal (except Elvis....sorry needed a giggle.).  In a game about choice and crafting a path for your PC, being able to have one's LI live to the end of the game, is.....ok I'll say it....Mandatory!!  Because it all comes down to choice! 

Take for example (others have used this as well), DAO.  A female warden involved with Alistair can have the following paths occur based on player choices:

*DAO SPOILERS*






1) Alistair could lose his love by the player choosing the US for the PC warden.
2) Depending on dialogue choice during the final battle, Alistair can grab the sword and take the US instead of the warden......WITHOUT the player actually telling him to.  (talk about drama)
3) The player can simply CHOOSE to have Alistair take the US.
4) The player can convince Alistair (with enough persuade) to take the dark ritual with Morrigan.  Inevitably saving both of them from the US.
5) After all is said and done, there are yet still more choices based on a hardened/unhardened Alistair, and whether or not you are an elf, mage, or a female Cousland.  You could marry, stay as his mistress, be jilted, or run off to just be wardens together.

And that is just the choices for ONE LI's.  One could argue that even in DAO, not all LI's were treated exactly equally (in terms of choices, scenes), but all were treated fairly, and given multiple paths to take.  All based on player choice (for good or ill.)

THIS is what I was hoping for with this series.  Choices, and a voice for my fem Sheps that actually FITS the character I have been trying to mold.  UGH!!!

So guys I was just thinking about anything else we can do to make little noise about our feelings. Since I think online posts and forum entries are quite good but we cannot be sure how many of them would be reading them I thought of something like the banner before (this great Cure thing) to send them. But there wasn't anything at all coming to my mind.... And today I remembered something we made in our "young" days. We loved a japanese band and since there were some people from all over the world who liked them and my friend and I were going to Japan we wanted to bring something to them. And so we made a fanbook. Well in fact it was a selfmade big folder with drawings in it or stories or poems, whatever poeple wanted to contribute. It was just great! We made a flyleaf before every entry with some photos and names and the country of the fans on it. I took some photos of it, just see:

I wanted to ask you to do something like this for Thane or at least all of the ME2 love interests and send it to them. Write or draw whatever you want (it should be something about Thane at least ) and we can do such flyleafs but not with us, with pictures of our Femshep and some infos like Name, decisions ingame or whatever. We can think of it. The poeple for this last project (it is about ten years old I think) have send the contributions to me digital or in letters whatever they wanted. Since I live in Germany the digital version would be better I think Printing out would not be a big problem I think. If they get something like that in their hands perhaps we get the attention we need. Would be great if you tell me what you think about that idea, perhaps we can improve it or change it or something? In fact this game is just really important for us. And they have done a great job by giving us such great characters. I think they actually did a great job with Garrus and that should be for all romences ingame.

They just deserve it. Not less not more. Every single character in this game.

I've found one company that seems to have a good price for those nifty silicone ones, but the big question is : how many people would want one? The lowest number I can get is 50 and the price/piece would be around 1,5$ (calculated from € since I live in Europe). If we can push the number to 100 the price would be less than 1$.
If we're going to do this I need to know that I won't be left with 80 bands, My arms are too short to wear them all!

So anyone still interested?

I've actually found a shop in my neighbourhood that prints t-shirts, and people say it's good value for price. I'm planning on getting a Thane t-shirt, but I don't have an image.

They technically have a Thane t-shirt in the bioware store, but we could ask people who are fans of the game and Thane if we could use their image on dA?

Well shouldn't be a problem at all, as I wrote I have made such a thing before so It wouldn't be a problem for me coordinating and collecting things. These days it shouldn't be a problem to digitalise everything and send it by email. I can create a new mail adress one which we can only use for the project, so no one have to be afraid of posting the private mail adress official. But letters are welcome as well But if someone else really wanna do it - also no problem at all I am happy that there are that many positive responses It shouldn't be a problem to buy some folder, we just would need a title pic (for example all contributing Sheps and in the middle Thane, or a drawing or screenshot - whatever the community wishes) and we could pimp the folder a little bit, just like we want (perhaps some green drellish skin ). In the past we were just telling people please send us your contributions until... then we will finish work and take it with us. We can think of a deadline like 4 weeks oder 2 months or something. It depends a bit how many contributions we get - it should be as huge as possible.

I think it would be great if we do some great introduction of the things we wanna to be improved. Eventually a native speaker could do this (my english is quite creepy ~.~) or we just take one of the great responses from the forum. Should be constructive to show them we really mean it and we have concrete solutions for them. Not 1000 different things but perhaps some few examples. Thats what they want right? Not just telling them the bad things, but tell them why and what we wanted for him. Afterwards all contributions and at the end just a short Thank you for creating Thane. Some lovely words that they see how much he means to us I think this whole thing should show them how much we love and miss him

For me the greatest concern here is to sound "professional" and emotional. Perhaps we can move something. I wanna believe it

If you want we can create a new group here for better coordinations. Feel free to write PM too me too
