I think you hit the nail on the head. They're probably scared off by our ... intensity. lol They seem reluctant to address the ending complaints directly as well because they know if they engage fans there will be a deluge of questions, complaints and input directed at them. Something similar happened to Patrick Weekes and he stopped answering questions. It's easier for them to stay silent, I suppose.

We just have to hope they're listening and taking our feedback into consideration.

I posted this in the Thane thread but I'll link to it here as well. If you haven't already done so, participate in the romance survey: http://social.biowar.../index/10290010

Could be another good way to make our voices heard, regarding the poor treatment of Thane and his romance.

so what happened with patrick weekes exactly?  is he the mordin writer?

i know that someone on deviant art linked that author's page where he had stated that the writers forgot thane, "dropped the ball" and all that.  when i followed the link, i saw some other posts about thane, and jumped in with my $.02 before i read it all.  i was very nice about it, but said how disappointed i was.  my post went up, and a minute later i looked again and it was down and i was blocked.  then i saw a comment from him, something like "um, no..." [paraphrase - don't discuss thane here].  i don't know if he got a massive influx of comments, or if someone really went too far.

anyway, i don't know if he asked that we not comment before or after i posted, but i felt kinda lousy about it.  :(  couldn't even apologize.  oh, and i would have liked to tell him that mordin totally choked me up, too, and that did seem like a fitting conclusion to his arc.

Please don't flame me--

I tend to be pretty monogamous in my game playing LI's and Thane is always my pick for ME2. I love Garrus but not in that way, and of course, Kaidan and I broke up and the come-on lines with Jacob were so obnoxious and his appropriate negative response so definitive that he was out of the picture too. Besides, Thane had class, style, intelligence. moxy and a whole lotta sex appeal.

Thane was my FemShep's only LI in MassEffect 2.

I knew he was dying. I expected him to die in MassEffect 3. His resignation to his fate when we first meet him reminded me of being in denial. You know in your head that you are going to die, but your emotions and more important, your body aren't giving you the message yet. So when you and he fall in love, he's revitalized, rejuvenated and I was glad of it. But the time bomb was still ticking.

In ME3, his body has deteriorated to the point that it knows death is near. When the body tells you, you finally have to believe. This is why Thane is resigned to his fate in ME 3 because his body has told him that it is time.

We all know that had he been in full health that nasty boy would never have beaten him. Kai Leng simply didn't have Thane's class. It was his debilitated state that allowed that +#%* to win.

I found Thane's death appropriate and pretty true to the death one has with a terminal illness. He and his son had made peace, he and I had gotten the chance to say goodbye and he left his universe with all important things resolved. Those of us who have seen our elders depart this earth in a fairly natural way probably saw a lot of similarities in Thane's death. I certainly did. So, I am not upset with his passing. I am at peace with it.

not at all, carmen, i appreciate your point of view.  it is nice to hear from others who also loved thane.  :)

some here are more or less upset about thane's death in and of itself, but i think many of us on this thread are upset that a) the romance with thane was not really acknowledged in the game in a number of ways, B) his conversation in me3 did not seem to be in keeping with his outlook at the end of the me2 romance, and c) we did not get the opportunity to spend more time with him or talk with him a little longer.

thanks for sharing your thoughts about him.  :)

@Carmen. No flaming here as a general rule. :)

I'm glad that your Shep got a good send off with Thane. Mine did not. I object to the devs/writers lumping the friends and romances together and giving us pitiful generic material. As a friend, it was barely okay, but for my FemShep too much was left unsaid and undone.

Yes, he wrote Mordin in ME3.

I'm not sure what happened exactly, so I really can't say. It seems he was getting lots of complaints from fans (some of which were Thane related) and so he chose to stop answering. That's as much as I know.

Exactly. Shepard can't even tell Thane she loves him, at any point? That's messed up. The whole thing lacked the emotional connection the characters had established in ME2.

The whole Thane romance in ME3 was more like a cut scene than anything. You had virtually no control over any of the events and the dialogue was scripted so poorly that you may as well not had a conversation at all.

You're good. If you can see it on your page then it went through. You won't see it on theirs unless they respond to you. I've been on Twitter a while. I do enjoy it alot. Really fun.

@mnomaha and mythlover20: so one more thing I really feel connected with you guys :) I am getting old I think xD In my younger days I would have looked at this crap and just knew how to use it. And now I really have no clue where all these buttons and messages and things are leading to... I send love to you both and just hope that they at least read it. I mean there is this tweet on my Twitter now.... But until no no answer... I think....?? xD

Btw. I read this:

“Hardest. Day. Ever. Seriously,
if you people knew all the stuff we are planning you’d, we’ll – hold onto your copy of me3 forever.” -Michael Gamble's Twitter Account

here:
http://angryjoeshow....me3-ending-dlc/

and since I am looking for any little, little clue of something we get in the future.... He is talking about all the stuff. All includes Thane right? ~.~
There is only one thing for which should be really no cure out there: our and Femsheps Thane addiction :) Uncureable and all of us would totally agree with that ;)

I liken it to news by the bite. You see it, click it, read or not. I also like the funny tweets. Some are a hoot. Others are just, hmm... odd. Image IPB

Yes. Totally, utterly, irrevocable, desirably uncurable! :D

Thank the gods I'm not the only one. I don't even really use it. I only joined due to the RetakeME3 movement (which btw has done WONDERS to restore my desire to continue with Invictus. I honestly thought about scrapping it for a while there after Thane died. Now, I'll keep going. Can't really disappoint you all, now can I?) and I've sent like three retweets. And I have NO idea if I did that right. :S

I am not holding out hope. At all. No matter what DLC they come out with, THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THE JOB PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE! Bad writing is bad writing. There is no excuse for it. If their going the explanation route with the DLC, then clarification should have been included in the first place. Would have saved them SO much trouble if they had.

As for the romances... well, yeah, I'll just be repeating the whole character assassination argument, and we've all heard/made it enough times.

So far as Twitter goes, if you Retweet something, it's basically forwarding it to any people that are following you. And you'll see your tweet on the other page if they reply to it.

Yeah, Patrick Weekes did not do any of the writing for Thane. So that's why he blocked you. It was an honest mistake though, so don't beat yourself up about it.

We don't flame here!!

It's great that the way Thane was handled was enjoyable for you.

For me it was not.  I didn't enjoy the lack of dialogue or choice given, and I hated that basically all the dialogue was the same for both M/FShep and romanced Shep.  And he's the only ME2 character that didn't get a "mission" of some sort.  VERY disappointing for one of their most beloved characters!

I'll say it again. For me, as someone who had a Shepard who was decidedly Thane's buddy, the most jarring part was no one noticing afterwards. When I ran it again on my Thanemancer, it was her lack of options to show grief.... and no one noticing afterwards. Achievement and romance lockout, please. And some damn dialogue.

Fix that and I'd be happy. Maybe not thrilled, but it wouldn't join "Tali looks boring" and "Synthesis is dumb, what's the Normandy doing" as the "ARGH. THIS MAKES ME SAD ABOUT THE GAME WHICH IS OTHERWISE FABULOUS" moments.

That's a good idea.  I think I'll add a link to the end of my next chapters to try and raise awareness!
