I think it's because the 'cast is over now. I think this is the link to the recording
Spoilercast
Lol they talk about romances and how if you romance 2 people, they call you out on cheating for MaleShep, but for FemShep (one of the guys romanced Traynor even though his FemShep was with Garrus) there is no 'choose between us' dialogue. I suppose it didn't really occur to them that FemShep was kind of not as focused on in ME3 than MaleShep was in the romance department
okay, had to take several breaks in the process, but managed to watch the whole thing.
tired + glass of wine = not much coherent to say (sorry, ya'll), but i did notice that in an entire hour, not one of them so much as mentioned thane. maybe thane is just not interesting to male gamers? i don't really understand why not. to me, he was the deepest character regardless of shep's gender/orientation. come to think of it, maybe not - those who did not romance him maybe didn't notice his development. i also noticed that they seemed to really appreciate jacob's story.
yeah, i caught all that about the one guy playing a femshep, and it is interesting that, as he pointed out, there was no confrontation between his femshep's love interests in me3. you know, i've seen all the me3 trailers a bunch of times, and the best one was femshep reinstated. they made a big deal about letting fans pick her design. but when it comes down to it, i think both femshep and female gamers were neglected in this. sometimes i feel like bioware was operating on some weird notion of what they think we wanted, without ever really finding out. or maybe they were just thinking about what male gamers playing as femshep would want.
if that notion is true, it begs the question of why they didn't bother. i have always been interested in research and statistics, and i keep wondering if any of their employees looked into what we want to see, and what conclusions they came to. women gamers may not be the majority, but we are a significant minority, and as i have mentioned before, we have a lot of power in the gaming market as we are very frequently the wallet behind minor game purchases. do they think women aren't interested in sci-fi or shooters?
serious question to those of you who played dragon age games - do you think the female gamers' preferences were taken into more consideration for the dragon age games? i don't have an opinion there, as i didn't play them. the fics appeal to me, but i really prefer sci-fi and shooters to fantasy-based games, but it wouldn't surprise me if they felt that women would be more interested in dragon age.
i really hope this is coherent; i'm just typing out my thoughts on the matter for anyone who may be interested. i need to eat something, before i turn into pds.
