I don't know why they made him an LI since he was just a disposable character and was dying the day you met him.

Bioware forgot about that.

Thanks for your support, Jestina Good to know there are more people out there who support Thane and believe he was treated unfairly in ME3.

I didn't.  Thane said he had less than a year to live and Shep was on Earth for 6 months.  People actually thought that Thane would live through ME3?  

I think if they would have Thane living through the whole game would have OOC Thane.  He was dying when you met him on Illium.

This is my one and only acknowledgement of trolls.

Thane was never "destined" to die. The writers in ME2 said they weren't sure where they were going to take the character.

From LotSB, you see Thane is a candidate for a transplant but declined. It is not specified whether this is BEFORE or after romancing Shepard.

It's only been 6 months or so since the end of ME2 (Arrival). Thane says that he as told he had 3 months to live 9 months ago. So..............he was 3 months PAST his expected life expectancy when he agreed to join up (and kicked ass)???

Being in servitude to the Hanar since the age of 6, having his wife murdered, his son estranged from him isn't enough....gotta give him space cancer as well. If you succeed in his LM and romance he does NOT want to die. His character arc even if friended (i.e. successful LM, exhausted all his dialogue options), he is not eager to die. Then add the hints we were toyed with; canidate for lung transplant, new lung medi-gel courtesy of CNN, hanar are close to a cure (he says that at the very beginning, but at the time he says it he doesn't believe he will live long enough to see the cure.). Hope and choice for an extention on his life is NOT OOC at all, especially for a romanced Thane. And truth be told, if you were successful in his LM, wouldn't you want him to fight for life, if not for friendship/romance then how about for his SON!! What sort of message does this give; it sickens me how eager people are to have Thane dead (because what....it's angsty, morose, depressing, cool, ya hated him.....bah!). Him wanting to choose to live (character autonomy) is much more emotional than just killing him. And most importantly; player choice to help him extend his life (or die; whichever turns your fancy), adds choice to an RPG. More choices are a good thing for all. More content, more replayability.

hmmmm......wasn't going to go there, but, there it is. I need sleep.
