Ah, see that makes it a tougher decision, probably the one Bioware is going for. Much better!
I think I'd have to do both play throughs. First would definitely be saving Thane, but I imagine he'd also put up a sort of protest for his people, so I'd save one for other Drell as well.

Oh, she is not going to be happy when Thane dies. If she's becomes even slightly as upset as we are, then it will be good to have her on our side!

Not to be nitpicking but you mean Prothean ruins right?
Although considering the fall of the protheans it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to assume that there is Reaper tech among those ruins.
And yeah, the choice between Thane/War assets is a no brainer for me too, but maybe if the choice was something like this:

Either you:

a) Cure Thane, through the use of a complete sample, at the cost of slowing down the process of synthesising the cure for other Drell. This would lead to his survival after cereal killer's stab of phail, and then Thane subsequently joins you on the Normandy.

b)Don't cure Thane, which means the cure can be more accessible to the rest of the drell ie. the synthesising process is sped up with the unused sample of the cure which would contrast saving Thane from a moral perspective.

Btw/Off-topic: That gun dealer needs an artifact found while scanning a system (can't remember which system though)

Just started reading from this post, and now I feel bad because I would still go for Thane at the cost of the other drell (and feel rather horrible about it, but not too much because hey, its Thane)

I said I would do some art of Thane this weekend, but personal issues are in the way (apologies)

I really love them and I hate this forum that the space for sigs is that small at all. *grml* I just saved them for using them in other signatures too, if you are ok with it.

Since I am at Huerta now at my second playthrough I think I will stop there too and just sit with Thane staring out of the window and go back to play DA2 once more. Fenris isn't Thane at all but well he stays with Hawke and never leaves her. I really need some happy endings these times...

Here is my view: The FemShep has at this time sacrificed a great deal of herself for the good of the galaxy. She has been mocked, ridiculed, abandoned, forced to work for people with little ethical principle, and is now responsible for the fate of billions of people. She literally has nothing that has not been given to the galaxy and to others.

If Thane is her LI, then choosing to save him is not sacrificing everyone else for a selfish reason, she is saving the only person in the entire universe who loves her not for what she can do for him, but for what she means. Thane loves Shepard just for being Shepard, and in Shepard's situation, that's really, really rare. I think Shepard would deserve some selfishness. I wouldn't feel bad saving him.

I agree completely.  Thane is the only "selfish" thing that Shepard has ever asked for.  Although keeping herself sane and balanced doesn't seem all that selfish to me
Shep n ever gets anything for herself.  Thane is where she draws the line.

It's like the Dragon Age Wynne Lecture again, saying that it's a horrible idea to be with any romance. I really wish there was an option for the Warden to say "Guess what, the Wardens have taken about 30 years off my life (if they're early 20's when recruited they'd be about 50 when the Blight hits them), theyve taken my firtility, they've taken away any chance of having a normal, happy family, and pretty much destined me to living Community Service for as long as I live, except with tainted blood and weapons. I am NOT giving up sex and the ONLY person who makes me happy too!!"

I'm going to go protest in the official thread again and suggest a better ending for Thane and Jacob's romances now. Now that I know that there's some hope to getting this fixed, I'm determined to succeed.

Robin, who already Virmire'd a romanced Kaidan for the GREATER GOOD (the salarians) before falling for Thane, would be totally crushed by a choice like that.

Therefore, I support it utterly. Robin Shepard exists driven purely by tragedy, I guess.

Besides, any attention given to the Thanemance would probably be in the plus column instead of the big sign slapped over it going "Fill in the Blanks".

Mother of God... *takes off glasses* this could be perfect! If Thane is the love of her ME life though, you'd think it wouldn't matter to her if he didn't get as much screen time.. but then again I'm just hopelessly devoted to him and refuse to romance anyone else haha

That would be so nice, I can imagine Shepard sitting on the beach at sunset, turning her head and seeing Thane walking towards her. She gets up and they kiss, or hug, or something That would require Bioware to design a beach though, but I suppose we deserve it

Agreed agreed agreed!  She's lost everything, she then gets one bit of happiness with Thane only to lose him again - its too much

And it would be something to look forward to because then at least we'd know that they'd be at peace together. I think it'd be especially nice if Thane said something along the lines of "I told you I'd wait for you, Siha."

Not the same thing as him living and the two of them being together, but still sweet.

Yeah, and it would be a lot better than what we got. I'd feel happier about both of their deaths if I at least knew they were together.

I am a grubby greedy grabby beeotch. I have said it before, and I'll (apparently) say it again. I want a choice for him to live, period. Perhaps if they hadn't butchered my f!Shep, and Thane's romance maybe I would be more accepting, but I'm not. Between the botched romance, the poorly applied character arcs (on both of their parts), and the illogical fight scene with cereal ninja......nah! Nothing short of a miracle will fix this storyline for me.

Sorry to be rehashing old posts of mine, but......I never exactly expected my Shep(s) to live. Because it's an RPG, I of course wanted the choice (have you guessed that I am be on choice yet??). What was more important to me was "motivation" to fight for the galaxy. Having Sheps LI and her family (squaddies) around (and alive,,,duh) for the game, gives Shep a motivation to keep going; fight against the odds, and hopefully, succeed in the end. She fights for those she loves, and the galaxy reaps the benefits. Make sense?.....or am I talking outta my arse backwards.

PS - Just an aside. This is all MY opinion and wishes. Those that have found happiness in this game should absolutely enjoy it. And, if they do come out with some minor fixes to the Thane romance, and it helps some of our disappointed Thanemancer find fun again in their well spent time and money, then good on you....seriously, no sarcasm. I just want more....see? greedy!
