Protesting the Poor Treatment of Thane Krios' Romance

I'm actually the gamer, so my boyfriend came in while I was playing ME2, and he saw some combat where I had Thane in my squad (well, that'd be all the time after I picked him up) and he was like, "Who's the lizard?" Of which I corrected, of course. Then he actually thought Thane was really cool and decided to play the game. He went with Tali, but he's still upset over ME3. He might just be biased in my favor, but he actually apologized that I, the one who played ME1 and had the game first and actually got him into the series and preorders the collector's addition and buys the DLCS like LotSB and put all this time/love/energy/money in, was the one who got pushed aside.

My bf is playing ME2 right now and I happened to look over at the tv when he's in Life Support talking to Thane. He was having the conversation about "dancing crazy" with Kolyat and it made me so sad that I started crying. My bf looks over at me and does a type of "there, there" pat on my leg.
I haven't told him he dies since he doesn't want spoilers for ME3 but I can guess he already knows since I start crying practically every time I talk about Thane or see him in his game.
Oh poor us Thaneless Sihas
LOL I ended up doing the same thing with my bf! The night I was playing when I came across the atrosity of Thane's death I ended up texting him "I hate Mass Effect 3" while he was at work. He texted me back "Thane dies doesn't he? I'm sorry honey". I should have known to keep my mouth shut about it, he knows how invested I am with Thane and the one thing that could make me hate the game is Thane dying the way he did.
Cannot hide the emotions
Lol, I did a very similar thing. My husband didn't know Thane died for 3 days after I played. He found out when I was at work and texted me, "I'm sorry, siha." I burst into tears at work and tried to play it off like I had a cold
That is so increadibly sweet and so increadibly sad! I never cried over Thane, but I can totally see myself doing that if I was texted something like that.

That is really sweet! Makes me wanna go awwww
I've cried too many tears over what happened to Thane, wish I wasn't so damn sensitive! I can break out the waterworks pretty easily. I cried all night after I played through Thane's death and ended up with awful, swollen eyes in the morning.

That's just it. I admit some of my bitterness is from the money angle. My husband ended up pre-ordering the CE for me as a VD gift, but that is still OUR household money, and all the other games/DLC I have bought. I spent the same amount of money on these games as those that are satisfied (or that tell ME I should be satisfied). I never got my money's worth on me3 since I couldn't even finish it. I have bought games before that I ended up not liking....even paying full price for them, and I just shrugged it off. May not have been thrilled at wasted money, but wasn't going to let it ruin my day.
Problem: I grew to love these games. The characters were rich and engaging (for me more so in ME2, but still), the story was interesting, the quests were fun, and I loved the choices we were given. Spent a lot of time on my Shepards, role playing them just so. Making my husband giggle with the "back stories" on them, and was thoroughly anticipating the final installment.
Game finally arrives, and in a matter of hours, I am experiencing glitches/bugs, a lackluster (and kinda confusing) beginning.....I was not in "awe" of the reaper horde that shows up. Just kinda felt like saying, "told ya so". The auto-dialogue is immersion breaking as are the animation glitches (though admittedly funny at times), and then WAM! Sucka-punched! Thane's role (limited role), Sheps and Thane's complete 180 in character/romance arc, lack of dialogue, awkward lines and makeout scene.....over in just a few minutes. I started bawling. Eventually saw that he died to cereal ninja. Learned of the less than stellar endings. Never finished the game.
But bw has their money, and so I come here and speak my peace, along with all you other lovely Drell lovers, but still get no real satisfaction. So I'm just going to continue playing ME2, and using my imagination (and fanfic!!
I am left feeling empty, kinda swindled, and strangely exhausted.

But, I also didn't like the scenes in the demo. Like the opening with Andersen. I know some people are trying to learn how to play, but I felt it was pretty lackluster and empty of action or strong dialogue. I also don't like the way they have side quests set up. There are some great points, like I actually loved the little mission with Grunt (ah, I was so happy to see him. He wasn't even like a favorite character in ME2, but he was so nice and I'd just visited Thane and yeah). Some graphics were better, liked that you could pass by random conversations again, liked that even non-speaking people were moving and seemed engaged in some conversation.
Oh, and I only preordered the game to get to see Thane faster. Took like 2 weeks to deliver. Then I flip open that art book soooo fast and, yup, no Thane. Or anyone I was really interested in. Only good thing was getting to have Javik with me to troll and keep me happy. And even the way Liara & everyone reacted to finding him was just... so emotionless to me. Afterwards she seemed more exciting but man the lines/voice acting for the From Ashes quest stuff was just bad.

Also trying to find new groups to ask to sign petitions takes more time than you'd think. Thanks for helping me start out though, Visli! I just hope people take the request to sign the petition seriously...
Also, @ Niemalna: Still looking for that post! It should be good!

I agree completely. I know everyone says 95% of the game was wonderful, but I thought the dialogue in the beginning felt a little forced. Not to mention it's obvious from the first scene that you don't have as much control over your character anymore. Were they just too lazy to give us more dialogue options?
I wonder if I'm being really picky just because of what they did to Thane. But seeing as the lack of control over Shepard led to some rather infuriating lines with him, I'd say it's justified.
I am so up for a round of tweeting!
And I'm jealous of your boyfriends/husbands. I got in a full-out fight with one of my guy friends about Thane, because he refused to see it from my point of view. Can I just say that I have a friend who lives in Sweden, and he reminds me *so much* of Thane. *swoons*

Hn. How about ... Shep walks in on Garrus and Tali getting... acquainted, and goes nuclear on them for being happy and expecting her to wish them well when they couldn't even ask her how she was doing without Thane?
