Ps. If you haven't already voted, go vote. I'm so close to 100 votes I can almost taste it. Like I am tasing 'em cupcakes right now. lol. But seriously vote, once I get enough I'm going to send the poll to Bioware.

The least they could do was change the colour of the drell to like yellow or something! They are just tormenting us by using the exact same model as Thane

I guess Bioware thought this would be compensation for what the did to him in the actual game.

@sunnie...OMG I thought the exact same thing. They couldn't make him look like Skittles? They had to use the Thane model??
Talk about salt in the wound.
realized to late that this was the model for MP....don't play it, and since I know some people do changes to characters in the PC version, I thought THAT is what this was about......<use you're eye's, ya dumb drunk!!> Lame, mon! Totally Lame!
Very lazy indeed to use the same exact model. They technically have three different existing Drell models to use.
*le sigh* Well, at least if you do play MP and unlock a Drell, ya got sumtin' pretty to stare at.

However, the rest of how it was handled in ME3 was just.. not good. The worst of it is how FemShep shows no emotional reaction to the outcome of his battle with Kai Leng. They should've at least given her a photograph on her desk. That would have been a nice touch.

IMO the Thane romance is one you go into knowing that there isn't going to be a happy ending. It is a sure thing that he is dying.

There was hope for a cure actually , the whole "the hanar are working on a cure", the lung transplant, and the lung medi-gel thing on CDN were all hints (albeit subtle ones) that there may have been talk of a cure previously. In addition the attention the "Cure Thane" Banner got was also a source of hope.
And then add to the fact that Chris L'Etoile (Thane's writer in ME2) left Bioware and as such the rest of the writing team were probably at a loss for what to do with his character in ME3. They chose the easy way out.
(Below is just for giggles)
/jk
We need the player to hate Kai Leng.
Oh, maybe we'll have him force Shepard to kill either the VS or Liara!
HurrDurr. Those characters are popular, their fans would be pissed!
Oh derp what do we do?
I know! We have this dying character lying around who is defined by his illness, let him be swordfodder for Leng!
Oh, yeah great idea while we're at it let's give Leng plot armour! Wait wasn't that green one a love interest?
Herp derp I can't remember /jk
(I couldn't help myself I needed to vent in a humourus manner)

Oh god you're right, I can clearly imagine them laughing
I just watched the 'Making of Garrus' vid on youtube, and they were talking about what they would imagine a female turian to be like, and the designer was all 'haha what, would you put a pair of breasts on them? Draw on some lipstick? Some of the guys were like drawing on lipstick and going 'there. done' and I was like haha be serious'
I dunno about you guys but that made me kinda annoyed. I'm just jumping at any chance to attack them now, but if that's how they feel about females in general (which it's probably not, guys have their jokes I guess) I can only imagine how much they didn't care about Thane being a female LI considering he wasn't as popular as Kaiden or Garrus.
FemShep really got the short end of the stick in ME3

(I was surprised they made them with a shorter fringe as opposed to a long and colourful one reminiscent of long hair)
Although the Tali stockphoto was...pure lazyness...

So for me, the abysmal treatment of the ME2 squad and then then absolute rotten ending (IMO) was just two more ticks for me. I'm totally into the three strike rule. And bw aced it.

The entire concept of ME3 revolves around laziness. It started with the graphics and all the clipping. I mean really, did no one test this? How did constant data pads through Sheps chest not get noticed? The character animations are atrocious. I watched some more vids and it's like there's no flow, especially something simple like a character walking. The video of Miri yesterday was just that. It was a stick figure with long arms and legs and the movement was off. No, it wasn't a streaming issue. It's in my game like that too.

Yeah I agree, the animations are really off in ME3 and the graphics seem to have gone downhill.. it's such a shame, ME2 was such a beautiful game.. maybe because they weren't trying to cater to noobs as much (but then again, the story line didn't require you to have played ME1 as much as ME3 requires you to have played both ME1 and 2).
Still, I think if they had decided to work on MP later and just work on the game, and had not tried to make it so bloody accessible to people who have never touched ME before in their life (seriously though, they are missing out if they didn't play ME1 or 2. Bioware shouldn't bother with them IMO), then they could have done much better. Screw Diana Allers and Vega (as much as I liked Vega, I would trade him in a second to get Thane back or even to get better treatment of the other ME2 characters).
They may have given less to the VS in ME2, but the point was, they were coming back in ME3. This is the end, there is meant to be no more for Shepard, so it's like there is no hope for ME2 characters, and that makes me really sad

Gosh, now I'm reminded of my botchy attempts at drawing female drell, and being torn wether they should have breasts at all...
#2099
Posté 28 mars 2012 - 06:26
@sunnie...yeah, i don't know what they were doing with the graphics. Downhill and ended up about 10 years ago. They are terrible. Especially when I can't actually hold my Drell's hand properly.
And yes, catering to a new fanbase, at the expense of the old, is not a very good way to do business. I love Vega too, but we didn't need new characters. We needed actual content for the existing ones.

The codex stated that they give birth to live young capable of eating solid food, but at the same time it also states that drell are similar to humans and asari so hence the confusion. Personally I compromise and give them small breasts when I draw them.
But yeah I'm in agreement with the old vs new fanbase thing. (Although I adore Javik)
