Matt Rhodes is one of the senior artists at Bioware. He titled this piece "Crashed on Eden," and this is probably the closest thing we can get to an answer on the fate of the Normandy crew.

Or Eden could mean like Adam and Eve.

Life started anew there according to the ending.

That is true, but I still think that within what we know, Eden Prime seems like a reasonable assumption based on the title.

Well that could still make it Eden Prime though. I mean...it's called Eden Prime.

Or else it means Eden as in "Garden of Eden."

The real tell-tale sign of where it might be is in the sky.  I thought this topic would discuss that :/

Kinda off-topic:
I have to say I wonder why the Normandy was trying to outrace that blast, though, and why it damaged the ship. Are all spaceships everywhere damaged by the blast? Is the Normandy affected because of EDI? Yeah...

I wonder why I haven't seen anyone (read:  if I haven't seen it, the complaint isn't common) commenting on this plot hole, just on the plot holes that are relatively easy to explain or ignore.

It might not be plot, though, just fan service - which is fine in a way.  It was touching, whether or not it is 'really happening'.

More importantly it confirms that the scene was supposed to be symbolic of the freedom of life in the galaxy.

This.  Besides the land seems tropical, something Eden Prime is not, well at least not as far as I can tell. Also the Grandpa would heavly disagree with you (OP) but that hardly proves anything.

Yeah... I rather have them back on Earth so they can see their bitter victory and not isolated from the rest of the galaxy.

They didn't say eden prime, they said "eden." In other words, even Bioware has no freaking idea where that planet is-- it's just some planet far away with a generic name because they didn't want to define it.

All of this completely ignores the original course charted by ME's original lead writer as well as all of the foreshadowing from ME2. We need our Dark Energy ending!

in ME1 Nihlus mentioned Eden Prime as 'paradise'.

Still it can be Eden Prime IMHO

I will redact my previous statement, since the artist himself has clarified the meaning of the title.

No, just Eden as a concept.

Regardless, I don't think it's THAT much of a stretch to assume Eden Prime.

Ugh... the garden of eden is such **** creationist mythology. Why bring that into my "realistic" mass effect universe.

If it was Eden Prime he would have said Eden Prime.

I've never heard anyone refer to it as "Eden". Plus the sky looks different. Look at the moons people. There's your proof.

It's symbolic, not literal.
