I keep getting the message:
"Your ownership of Mass Effect 3 was not detected."

Of course it hasnt:
I have no XBOX LIVE account, or PSN name, or prior accounts with EA or Bioware.
Im just trying to register my Mass Effect 3 game. Why cant I just punch in a UPC code like I just did with Mass Effect 2?

Why does Mass Effect 3 require some sort of account syncronization to register? Image IPB

I can't register Mass 3 for 360, and it's saying I have dragon age 2 stuff registered for 360, ps3, and PC. I don't own dragon age, dragon age 2, or a ps3. so what in the world is going on?!?

Thank you so much. I was onto an EA rep about this topic for about 15 mins before I stumbled onto this page.

Jesse Reid I could kiss you.

This is really pissing me off. The FAQ page tells me that if my character name in the multiplayer page and my nickname here is the same, it should have been linked to the same account. Well they are, but it just doesn't! How hard could it be to just give us a account login page when we start up the game instead of linking people automatically to accounts they might have created months ago and forgotten by now?

I can't register at all.

I tried to contact EA as I was told to in the FAQs but the guy on the live chat said it was all on Bioware...

I have the same issue as a PS3 user. I can't register ME3 because EA used a login for an ancient, pre-Origin, game as a my new Origin account WITHOUT EVEN ASKING!?

...Now, after having contacted EAHelp, as this site suggests in the troubleshooting section for this problem, I have out-sourced EAhelp reps refusing to respond! (even though I've been perfectly polite...).

I exchanged several emails with them, where they asked for more info, and then NADA! That was a week and a half ago... and, I sent an email querying as to wether or not any progress had been made, 1/2 a week ago... STILL NADA!? Talk about rude customer service.

Funny thing is: my Wife bought ME2 for PS3 several days ago... and I registered that NO PROBLEM with the damned UPC code on the back of the box. WTF!?!

Thanks for the consideration, EA.

EA isn't here, and the oversight offered by Bioware isn't available on anything like a regular basis. Official support is on the EA Help pages, and the most effective type is the Chatline.

Did you ever figure out how to register your copy of ME3? Any info you have would be awesome. :)

So far thats the impression Im getting. Im an offline Xbox 360 player. Bioware cant "detect" my copy of ME3. What the heck is it trying to "detect"? Why isnt there an option to just put in your UPC? Does this mean offline users are excluded from participating in the Bioware forums? That would seem unfair seeing as I shelled out the $$$ for the game just like everyone else...
Im waiting on a response from EA. If I hear anything, Ill post it here...

Don't waste effort with eMail to their support. The Chatline is by far the best way to deal with EA.

Just got off the chat with EA.
The 3rd one was nice enough not to close the chat out claiming "technical reasons".
Gave me instructions to download an EA demo that had online access to my Xbox so that I could link my Gamertag and EA Profile.
Problem is, Im offline user. I cant download a demo.
He was nice enough to confirm what I already knew:

Offline users without a Xbox LIVE membership will NOT be registering their copy of Mass Effect 3. And therefore, will not be allowed full access to the Bioware forums.

So stop contacting EA. This isnt their issue. Either Bioware needs to remove the restrictions on the forums, implement a UPC registration system (like ME2), or we all need to sign up for Xbox LIVE.

Of course, if anyone has a workaround to this, that would be SPLENDID! :)

ARE YOU FORKING KIDDING ME?

So not only am I ticked off and enraged about the ending of Mass Effect and the fact that I can't get above a 3500 EMS without using XBox Live (which I don't want, not now, not ever)... I can't even post?!

This is a complete failure. One more strike (of MANY) against Origin and EA's bull$het, money-grubbing tactics. I can register every other Bioware game here fine on the BSN, why would Mass Effect 3 be set up differently?

EXACTLY.

I registered my Wife's PS3 copy of ME2 here using the UPC Code 4 days ago... but I can't register my ME3 PS3 copy here!?! Or, comment in the spoiler section of ME3 Forums!?!

ADD to that that the PS3 is being left out of certain ME3 MP events due to an EA/Sony spat of some kind...

Here's the official response I got from EA:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I appreciate your interest in EA games.

However, regarding your issue, please allow me to share that as you have been already informed that you will not be able to register your copy of Mass Effect 3 without an Xbox Live Membership. So, I request you to register your gamertag with the EA account and then try to play the game.

I hope the above information helps.

We at Electronic Arts appreciate your efforts and involvement in our Games and take this opportunity to express our gratitude and extend support throughout. Please feel free to get in touch with us anytime. Also, please access our online knowledgebase on: http://help.ea.com/

Regards,

Rohan
Electronic Arts – World Wide Customer Experience

For those who DO have Xbox LIVE or PSN Network Memberships, you CAN contact EA via chat and they WILL link your accounts for you (or so I was told). Chat is the best way to contact them. My wait time was usually under 3 minutes.
Go to: https://help.ea.com/ and click on [Talk to a Game Advisor].

For those of us that play offline, looks like well have to take our case to Bioware, eh?

I'm also an offline xbox player, apparently SOL. If bioware has to lock down their ME3 forums, I guess that says something about how unhappy people are with the ending. I don't want an origin account, Xbox Live Gold or anything else. I just registered on this site to add my 2 cents when I heard Bioware was listening. I knew nothing about the ending controversy until I beat the game and went online looking for answers.

The entire series was the most amazing sci-fi experience of all time, in any medium, in my opinion. I've never witnessed such emotionally compelling entertainment, and it just got better and better, building and building up, becoming more and more amazing with each step toward.... the ending, which I can't talk about here. I'll just say it ruined everything for me; it threw out every choice I made along with the ME universe.

For those WITH an internet connection that they could hook their Xbox up to, you may still be able to register with the following steps:
1: Connect your Xbox to your Internet Connection and activate the 2 day free Xbox Live Gold pass that came with ME3.
2: Download one of EA's free demos with online access (through the Xbox Marketplace) such as Fight Night Champion.
3: Start up the demo and in the Main Menu, Click [Sign into EA]. Use the same login info you use here on Bioware.
This will link your Gamertag and EA accounts so that Bioware/EA will now be able to detect your copy of ME3.
I have NOT tried this yet, as I am visiting family sans Xbox :(
But this was the closest thing to a solution EA could give me.

To see these instruction on the EA Help site, go here:

You should be able to connect to Xbox Live as a "silver" member and have it write the needed fields to allow you to register your copy of ME3. The writing will happen when the game starts and it says connecting to EA servers.

If you don't already have your gamertag linked to an EA account I'm not sure the exact process but it should either ask you to sign in with one or use your gamertag email address.

Also, for the galaxy map issue. If you don't want to play multiplayer you can use the iOS game to increase your readiness rating. It will take a bit longer than playing multiplayer would but it still works.

of course this is dependent on your X360 being in  a location with an interenet connection.
Mine isn't (an hour or so by bus from where I am now) so I won't be able to register
... which probably means the only ME3 forum I will be able to post in is the general -no spoilers.
I apologise in advance in case I post any spoilers there as a result

I say that people who own the game but are unable to register their game under current restrictions should be allowed to post on a spoiler forum and the technical help forum
