So I just finished the game last night in tears at the end (because Shepard died, not because I loved the ending) but something bugged me. I finished every single mission I possibly could, had my readiness at 100% from Multiplayer, had maximum Paragon (although I think I may have had very, very few Renegade points) and I could do all the Paragon options with the Illusive Man in the end, except for the very last dialogue.

If I'm max Paragon, why was the option grayed out for me? Did anyone else have this problem?

Had the same problem, must be for future DLC.

Your galaxy readiness has to be above 4000 or 5000, I think. Plus your Paragon or Renegade metter maxed.

I had 68%, 4800 strength and full paragon bar. I could select the dialogue.

Must be something you needed to have chosen way back.

Yeah what exactly happens when its not grayed out. You convince the illusive man to stop and Anderson lives?

reminds me of ME2.

after i killed the human reaper thing, i found legion dead.

had no idea wtf happened. turns out out i 'lost' his loyalty because i choose tali over legion in a conversation, even though i had a wierd paragon option, i dint feel like it would magicly work to apease them both, so i sided with tali.

ended up with the destruction of the geth for me =0

I was 3/4 Renegade, didn't touch multiplayer, maxed out the assets, and it was not grayed out. Though I didn't choose it. Also my Shep survived so now im itching to know what that entails for the future.

From what I'm hearing the option greys out if you make a certain dialogue choice during the talk with TIM, since I had similar circumstances and could not make that final Paragon choice. If you do get it, apparently TIM will do the same thing Saren did and commit suicide and Anderson survives.

I don't know if this is true however, so don't take my word for it. Just what I've seen from other postings of this nature.

Anderson dies no matter what, you can intially save him and you get an extended and really the last good cutscene of the game with him until he passes.

It's true, I seen the video on it. I just want to do it for myself : /

If anyone manages to find out what keeps you from being able to use the last dialogue, would be most appreciated if you'd post here :D.

I know that taking previous Charm/Intimidate options makes it easier to Charm/Intimidate the Illusive Man during the final encounter. I think there are Charm/Intimidate options in every conversation you have with him during the game, actually. Effective Military Strength may play into it, though.

It could have been the military strength. And yeah, I used every charm option I could against him, so it couldn't be that.

You have to pick the renegade/paragon option everytime you meet him throughout the game starting at mars for it to unlock

Is what I've been told, haven't done a second playthrough to look

That's a lie. I played a mixture of Paragon and Renegade and the option popped up.

I found the prompts during that conversation confusing, both my Paragon and Renegade options were in a swelled font of fuzzy color, which I initially thought meant they weren't available, but I was able to select the Paragon option every time. (Didn't try the Renegade options.) I managed to, uh, 'convince' TIM in the same manner I did Saren... (Which surprised me. I thought The Illusive Man had so corrupted himself he'd never admit error.)

I do regret not being able to shoot the b****d myself, though. I know it's possible with the right (Renegade, I presume) responses.

Which makes me wonder if it's really just a hallucination like people think, and that he's only seeing him do that because he saw Saren do it before.

But back on topic, I'm not seeing my reputation bar at all fuzzy. In fact, I'm starting a second playthrough as we speak and accumulating even more paragon points to see if I was just too low there (which I didn't think so.)

I went paragon and had 2 issues where I couldn't select the Paragon option. One was Tally and the Geth where I had to choose the Geth or the Flotilla. The other was the final option with TIM despite the fact I had full paragon both times.
