I recently completed my playthrough and finished with 6800 Military Strength, but hadn't touched multiplayer so I didn't get the Shepard survies scene before the credits.

Subsequently, I completed multiplayer and had 98% readiness and ~6800 EMS so more than enough to see the perfect ending.  I re-loaded an old save after the Cerberus base but before directing the forces to Earth.  I finished the game from there, but got the same ending as before (no Shepard survival scene).

Do you have to have your EMS above 5000 before you even attack Cerberus to see the proper ending?  Also, in the last conversation with TIM, the paragon/renegade options are greyed out for me.  Do those unlock if you complete the Cerberus mission with 5000+ EMS?

Not sure I'll spend the couple of hours doing it a third time unless its useful for some future DLC, but I'm curious all the same.  Any answers would be appreciated!

Shep survives if you choose Destroy Reapers and have +5k assets.

And the last choice - also greyed out options for me. I thought I had max reputation and paragon points as I did 99% of stuff....

Which ending did you pick? from my understanding the "best" ending with shep alive is the destruction one

On my first playthrough my ems was around 4700 I believe.
I was able to take the last dialog option and have TIM kill himself.

On my NG+ i had an ems of 7500+
However this time around I couldn't select the last paragon option to have him kill himself.

I had 6800 EMS and destroyed the power conduit. It was a re-load of a game from an earlier save and I'm wondering if the problem is that you have to have 5000+ EMS before boarding the Cerberus space station (as opposed to calculating it at the time you direct your forces to Earth)
