Before you guys just blindly ignore him, max out pull for area of effect damage, and put a couple points into lift grenade. Oh my god, decimates enemy squads. To round it off, max his class passive(power damage) and put the rest into his other abilities as you see fit (ignore slam, useless IMO). How are you guys building him? I'm bringing him every mission, he's so powerful.
Also, i wish you could retrain his powers.

I am doing mostly the same his class power is awesome. I put one point into Slam so I can cause a blast. I am curious how do you spec Dark Channel? No one wants to theory craft yet.

I made him about the same but with one point in slam for big the boom. His passive is awesome with a Vanguard. I am curious how do you spec Dark Channel? No, one wants to theory craft yet.

I was an Adept, so I didn't invest much in Javik's Pull on the grounds that I had my own and was already flinging Singularities around every few seconds. I took advantage of Slam the same way I did Miranda's in ME2 -- have Javik Slam a target, fling a Warp while they're in midair for a detonation. Never got a chance to try out Lift Grenades much.
Dark Channel was interesting to play with. I still have no idea what the best way to evolve it is, but I went for duration over damage. You can detonate it with Warp, Throw, etc. and it will still spread to a nearby target if the detonation kills, as opposed to Dark Channel itself. I never noticed the DPS kill anything by itself though, so I plan to spec for damage next time and see if it makes much of a difference.

Dark channel is weak on hardcore, i imagine is weaker in insanity. Used it max damage against a husk, took a good minute to kill it -.-.

Dark Channel is amazing, it allows you to combo with Warp and blow up Armored units. It may work with Barrier units as well, I didn't get a chance to check though. I did my one and only playthrough on Insanity as well.

Bring up the map to scroll through the levels on the Normandy, just like on the Citadel. You will find people of interest quick enough that way.

I'm playing on insanity at the moment and even though I haven't maxed dark channel yet it's fairly useful for AoE. As you said, it spreads to other targets even after you biotic combo, so it makes for spam able AoE if you bring liara or have warp. I bring liara and javik on most non Cerberus missions, because they both suck against shields.

Seems the crew tend to wander about at times now. I've seen Javik in various places 'exploring', seen Garrus with Joker and EDI telling human-turian jokes and talking with a random crewman in the lounge area.

I'm using Javik/Liara quite a bit as infiltrator for
insanity starting at level1, no import (e.g., very,
very weak weapons, weak powers for much of
early to mid game). Dark Channel is maxed for
damage, Liara's singularity also extra damage
to target (no bubble). Angry ancient and pure
biotic for reduced cooldowns/more power. Not
much in warp, but that's mostly due to being an
infiltrator. The occasional explosions are
really great.
The best thing is the combat audio you get
with dark channel/stasis, then cloak sniper
shot/reload. Wow. Even when I'm weak on
insanity, I use that every time I can (setting up
for explosions is probably more efficient). But
those sounds! Really fun for me, and I'm more
interested in fun than a faster, easier insanity clear.
