Wait... this isn't Deus Ex. D:<
It's absolutely impossible not to see Deus Ex in this. Between the final choice being independent of everything else and the options being essentially identical, it's pretty obvious.

It's amazing prophetic of how confusing, nonsensical, and disappointing the endings are.

Shep's speech to his crew: "Eh... Not quite as good as the past speeches, but its k. I'm going to get to make some nice decisions on who goes where now like in mass effect 2 and I'll get to see all those assets in cutscenes now. I'm so excited!"
Running toward harby: "Oh hey harby! Nice to finally see you! Are you going to spew out some of your famous lines as I charge you on foot? ...no? ah balls. This is pretty epic anyway I suppose."
Dead man walking: "Damn. I look worse than the husks. Oh look husks. bang bang. Hm. No ammo meter. WEEEE unlimited thermal clip! herp derp silly developers."
Inside citadel: "Anderson? WHERE THE **** WERE YOU WHILE I WAS LIMPING TOWARDS THE CITADEL HALF DEAD FIGHTING HUSKS?! Y U NO HELP ME DICK?! You said you came up right after me. You know, I wouldnt expect Harby to be so careless as to let not one, but TWO people survive up to the citadel. One of them unharmed."
Walking to platform: "A lot of auto dialogue, but whatevs. WEE more unlimited ammo! Silly developers! I doubt there will be any resistance here anyway. If there were I surely wouldnt survive even with my super pistol."
Approaching Anderson: "I bet anderson is a husk now. Oh hes not. Whats this- Oh hi Illusive man. Wait... ILLUSIVE MAN?! YOURE HERE TOO?! HOW THE ****?! HAX!"
Illusive man talking: "You know, you are a wannabe saren. You dont even look as cool. Good effort though. I guess I can appreciate the homage to the original, but this is kinda ridiculous."
Renegade option shoot TIM: "Uh... I'm not renegade... so no. Oh ****. Anderson is dead. Another renegade shot... Uh... Um... no... I'm paragon. Oh **** he shot me I'm dead. Well do over. Shoot you first thing then. Dont know why its shown as a renegade option if I HAVE to do it though..."
Enjoying the view with anderson: "Hey this isnt so bad. I dont get why people were complaining. I bet the crucible with kill them all and we will all live happily ever after now. Just wish my choices up til now changed things like in mass effect 2's ending. Oh well."
Crucible not firing and ascension to spacekid: "NOT FIRING?! What is this blasphemy? Shep is dying. Oh ****, what did I do wrong? Wait... What the ****? Oh god... Oh god please no... NO! Wow. The kid from the beginning. Its some super being appearing as the kid. Wow bioware, really?"
Spacekid's speech: "SO. MUCH. AUTODIALOGUE. Wait cant coexist? MY BEST FRIEND IS A GETH MOTHER****ER! Or was... but thats besides the point. THEY ARE ALLIES NOW! Wait... The relays will be destroyed no matter what? But in arrival destroying a relay destroyed the entire system. Theres a relay in every system... Wow. So Bioware's ending really is the reapers win. Apparently the silver lining is that the NEXT cycle wont have to be affected by the reapers. Oh happy happy joy joy."
End cinematics: "Joker, even if you survive youre screwed, sorry. I failed. Aw how sweet edi and joker will make little robot babies to repopulate for the next cycle. LAME! Wait how the **** did tali get there? I mean, Im glad shes ok, but how the **** did you get back to the normandy?! Meh. I'm just going to assume this old guy is Joker and thats his robo grandchild."
Bioware. I am disappointed in this ending.

my emotions with the endings?. betrayal, no matter what you did in the series. it doesnt matter in the end. and the nature of the endings just didnt made any sense. why is the Normandy Jumping?. if the Citadel and the stupid kid-VI/AI is the reaper control, then why was Sovereign neccesary to start the invasion in ME1?. and what was the deal with Harbinger anyway?, i at least expected an explanation/confrontation with Harbinger after his obsession with aquiring Shepard in ME2 trough the collectors and pissing Harbinger off all the time. why where the Collectors building a reaper in the first place and the reason they didnt wait for the main Reaper invasion?. uch,....so much unanswered questions and things dont make any sense. again, i cant believe they screwed up the endings so bad.
the battle for earth should have been the accumulation of all your choices and actions, just like the final Mission was in ME2. you wait too long, people get turned into a Human Smoothie. didnt upgrade?. you lose people, didnt do their loyalty?. they die.
im just both shocked and dissapointed of these worthless endings and that my excitement of seeing the results of my actions where never shown in the final confrontation. i kept in mind i might have to sacrifice my shepard to get the job done. but i never dared to imagine it was such a load of crap in the end. in 15 years of playing videogames i never seen an epic Universe like this one effectively taking a gun to its own head and pull the trigger.
uch, so many people have the same frustations i do. if they dont adress the endings im not purchasing anything anymore. i couldnt even get myself to go for a new game plus, whats the point if everything and everyone is screwed anyway?.

The ending made me feel so bad. I know about the sacrifice and other id ealism stuff. It just made me angry there was not enough endings. I felt so bad for my LI as well.

If the illusion of free choice was there, you wouldn't have noticed it. If you notice that your choice isn't free the illusion is dispelled.
What went through me, well I waited for that success moment. After you destroyed the collector base and you felt like: "Yes, it is done." So it didn't came. I felt nothing.

Mine went something like this.
-Shepard dies, that sucks
-Citadel explodes, well there goes life on Earth with all that mass falling down on it.
-Oh look, the relay exploded, there goes the entire solar system.
-Oh all the relays are exploding, well there goes the galaxy
-I see Joker is trying to outrun the explosions using conventional FTL- oops didn't make it.
-Well I guess everyone is dead, wait no some Normandy crew survived, poor bastards traded a quick death for a slow one.
-And hey! There we see Shepard drawing his last breath before expiring, joy.
-What the heck is this? Shepard's not a legend you twits, he just destroyed the whole galaxy!
-OK, now to go find out what I did wrong to get the absolute worst ending...
<5 minutes of searching later>
-What, the, heck...
Did I pick wrong? (2nd option)
But the other options seemed just as bad
What, the Mass Relays blow up in this ending too? I wanted to avoid that
Why is Shepard is the key to the next stage of evolution? His body is mostly just hydrogen atoms
This is the ending to the Mass Effect Triology, and the others are just as bad
Oh no
OH NO
OH NO!!!

Mass Effect was about surviving and bringing destruction down on the Reapers.
As Traynor said, I want to rip them in half and watch them blow up.
I fully expected Shepard to die, it was the only logical ending, but not like this. He / She needed to go out with fireworks and the biggest damned explosion the galaxy will ever see, but instead we get these three pissant choices, a broken and battered Shep who just fizzles out...
I made the choice to synthesize, after saving the geth and uniting them with the Quarians, it was the only moral choice I could make. The relays were gone whatever happened, choosing to destroy the Reapers, along with most of the galaxies technology would throw everyone back to the stone age. Taking the control option just felt wrong as we were fighting for freedom, not to control as TIM had tried, so that only left synthesis.
The mass relays were gone anyway, but not the tech, they could be rebuilt (cerberus had made a working ME core in the normandy).
There is a HUGE story left about what happens next, civilisation is in tatters, all the major races have had their homeworlds pretty much destroyed, their populace spread across the cosmos and no fast travel despite any surviving ships, virgin territory for the Krogen or even the Geth to become the dominant force in the galaxy.
And of course, what the hell happens to everyone.
At least in DA1 the ending gave you a short footnote about the main characters, despite Joker, Edi and co landing on whatever planet that was, what about the rest, Hackett, Jack, Jacob, Miranda, etc, etc.
After 5 years and one of the best stories in games playing history (imo at least), I'm sorry to say Bioware, but you screwed this up badly.
The game deserved to go out on a glorious high, with the united races giving the reapers a serving of whoopass, and whether or not Shepard died isnt really the issue, its that inglorious fizzle that you gave us and called it the end.
The point to the games was to fight through adversity and never, ever give up, but you.... you destroyed that, you gave us a conclusion without hope, the end of an icon and a galaxy in ruins.
I will say thank you for bringing us here, but I will never trust you again.
