I was thinking maybe I missed something till I looked up the other endings and... then the Fridge horror set in...
How could they get to ending and drop the ball... so bad. 16 endings all pretty much the same.
What was going through your mind as you watched the ending?

Well... aside from anger... it was sheer disappointment, also when Shepard was shot by a beam that normal slices dreadnoughts in half seeing him survive filled me with laughter, doubt that was intended.
Then I saw the Illusive Man's face and couldn't help but say "Oh my god... your face... D***!"
Oh well if they don't fix the endings we still have fanon.

I was thinking "They didn't do that? Not a freaking god child mystical crap ending, that is an insult to everything Mass effect is and destroy all the choices you made across the three games, **** they did..."

After getting hit by the beam, I just felt a sense of doom that slowly increased throughout the final Citadel level. When I got to the ending cinematic, I just felt stunned. I was just like "WTF just happened?"

I thought, "This is a setup for Mass Effect 4 or more DLC (to the planet to re-unite with your crew)"

- What happened to Shepard's armor?
- Where are Garrus and Kaidan? Did they die in the explosion?
- Don't see their bodies on the ground.
- How did Anderson beat Shepard so quickly?
- Oh, ****, he's dead, isn't he?
- Oh, yeah, TIM. Forgot about him.
- He's not going to turn into a boss, is he? I don't see how Shepard can do a boss fight.
- Yes! Shot him!
- Shepard and Anderson together in the end as it should be. Hang on! Aww. Nice final words, that was cool.
- C'mon, Shepard, get to the panel!
- Is Shepard hallucinating?
- These are not good choices.
- Beam of light, I guess? I want to just destroy the reapers though. Light sounds like the best ending. Let's just check this first.
- NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
- *sick feeling as images of companions flash before my eyes*
- This ending sucks. I'm going to destroy the reapers like I wanted. *reload*
- THIS IS THE SAME GD ENDING.
- *Looks up spoilers*
- These are the worst endings ever.
- **** no. This is worse than the finale of Lost.
- Kaidan, baby. *sobs*
- Why wasn't this like ME1? Battle to end all battles, Shepard emerging victorious, shakes hands with comrades, walking away with LI as rebuilding efforts begin.
- I'm not replaying this.

The entire Earth mission, as I kept hearing about how so few Hammerheads had made it, I thought, "Crap, I've really screwed this up with my choices. Made it harder, but I can do it!"
Then I'm running to the beam, people are getting killed, I'm thinking, "Okay, it's just going to be me, Garrus, and Ashley who actually make it up to the Citadel."
And then the beam hits, and there's a VO saying everyone is dead, and I think, "Wow...I knew I had a "low but measurable" rate of success. Guess I failed. AWESOME! (I LOVE tragic endings when they make sense).
Then my Shepard is getting up, bloodied and bruised. I'm still going! I look around...I'm the sole survivor. AGAIN. (This is my back story). My love interest Ashley and my best friend Garrus are dead. (YES! TRAGIC!) I will die avenging their deaths!
At this point, I figure I've gotten an ending so bad that everyone will die, but I at least have a chance to take the Reapers with us.
I go to the top of the Citadel. Anderson is with me. Okay, fine. Still on board. Confrontation with TIM, everything is fine. I shoot Anderson (mind control), TIM shoots himself, Anderson tells me he's proud and then dies. All very emotional stuff, loving it.
Hackett calls. I actually laugh out loud at these scenes, as Shepard's response, "What do you need me to do now?" even when he's dying is so perfect. Then Shepard says he can't figure out what to do, can't see...oh man. I needed to either save Anderson or bring a squad mate with me. I didn't make it....
No! I'm rising to the top of the citadel! I AM THE CATALYST! I'm going to be part of the bomb that destroys the Reapers! YES!
Okay...ghost child. Not good, but whatever. He'll tell me how to be the Catalyst.
...he's the Catalyst? He controls the Reapers? He wants me to control the Reaper? WHAT? No...I'm supposed to kill the Reapers. I kill the Reapers.
Joker is outrunning the fireball! Go Joker Go! ...Oh no. He didn't make it. I must have missed an upgrade. (Yay! Tragic ending!)
Oh! The Normandy crashed! Who survived?
Joker! Okay.
Ashley! WHAT THE ****. SHE WAS WITH ME AT THE CITADEL. ASHLEY IS DEAD.
The....Prothean? So, everybody lived?
No?
Just my broken-bones pilot, my DEAD love interest, and a DLC character I never cared about and who told me he was actually going to GO COMMIT SUICIDE?
Well, Ashley magically teleporting me ruined this ending, but let's go see what some of the good endings looked like!
THERE ARE NO GOOD ENDINGS?
Okay...well, let's see the bad endings then, and see where mine ranked!

Heh i read a review that called the ending "brave"..i call it the kind of ending you pull out of your sleeve when you have no idea what to come up with.
B1 : "so what how are we gonna explain all this?"
B2 :"How about we just wave off the entire reaper existence with some throw away lines about being a solution to the the tech/biological strife.."
B1 :"Oh?"
B2 :"And it should be spoken by an technological entity of some sort..."
B1 :"Ohh?"
B2 :"...that looks like a glowing kid!"
B1 :"...hmmm.. AWESOME lets roll with it".

Running at the portal to the citadel - This is so epic
Hit by explosion - ****!
Getting up - K
Seeing dead Tali - WTF?!?
Seeing Dead Liara - *tears*
During TIM/Anderson scene - K
Seeing the "Catalyst" - K....wtf?
Presented my choices - WTF? K.....
Ending - *cries* That was so depressing and didn't make any sense
(The rest of the game is phenomenal)

I've been with the series from the very beginning. All games, all DLCs, all books and and all comics.
I knew that Mass Effect 3 might find it hard to fulfil the sky-high expectations I had of it, but this pathetic excuse for an ending is a downright insult.
How could anyone approve some silly out-of-context god-entity bedtime story as the ending to one of the most consummate video game series in the last decade.
I can't recall when was the last time I felt this miserable.
Goodnight and goodbye BioWare.

As Earth Mission begins: " okay, you know the endings, be prepared for this , be prepared for this"
The run to the conduit : " This is epic! GOGOGOGO OH NO I SCREWED UP HARBY IS GOIGN TO KILL ME!"
CItadel scene with Anderson: wow this is such a great game...::filled with dread as knowledge of what is to come dawns on me: "Be prepared"
Ending :Chooses Red because I want Shep to live:: "Joker you look like an idiot...why are you up there.....I was not prepared....it's as bad as the forums said...."
