I'm just wondering if someone can tell me IF the extra weight of the Paladin is worth it over the Carnifex for the extra small damage and etc. Like if it is worth it for me to use the Paladin over the Carnifex.

Er...according to the sticky on balance changes, they weight the same amount. The difference is ammo count, I believe.

Paladin does more damage than the Carnifex in single player at least. Are they balanced differently for multiplayer?

I just unlocked the Paladin (my first N7 ultra-rare), and was curious about this too.

Im thinking that the paladin won't compare to the carnifex because the carnifex is much more likely to be upgraded to the point of exceeding the paladins stats. Both at the same level though, what are the differences?

Either way I hate the damn thing, i thought it was a bit rubbish. Great for "teh lolz" but not for serious play....

Paladin > Carnifex

More damage, and with a extended mag, just as good as a Carnifex. Sparse ammo doesn't count because there are ammo boxes everywhere.

Paladin does about 27% more damage than the Carnifex.

Up to you whether that's worth the weight/clip size. They have the same fire rate and same accuracy.

The reason I go for Carnifex over Paladin (aside from the fact that my Carnifex is a higher level) is that I can use the AP mod instead of Magazine.

Considering a paladin 1 does more damage than a carnifex 10, I wouldn't say it's rubbish. But due to the low ammo capacity it requires much more skill than a carnifex (if you can reliably headshot stuff you won't need more than 4 ammo).

Carnifex X does less damage than the Paladin I.  The ammo shouldn't be an issue considering how much there is in multiplayer and how common ammo consumables are.

Well, I say that the Carnifex is better just because you can get 10 kills per reload if you are a good shot.

I think you can only get 5-6 shots with the Paladin.

The only advantage the Paladin has is against armor, but if you are using it to 1 shot infantry, then the Carnifex is better

I prefer the carnifex, the paladin is ok and kind of a prestige weapon but I find myself running low on ammo to often and sometimes it happens when I don't have the option to run to a ammo box.

This and the black widow are the only 2 N7 guns I want

I got the Paladin earlier today and while I can not compare it to the Carnifax (as that seems to be a weapon that my Spectre packs just do not want to give me!) I have found it works extremely well as a backup weapon for a Salarian Infiltrator.

I tend to play Cerberus (Gold) and the only thing that ever tends to give anyone trouble is the Phantoms.

I currently have the M-98 Widow III, but swapped that out for the M-92 Mantis X with Enhanced Scope and Extended Barrel.

Why? With the M-98 Widow III alone, power recharge speed is +2% (6.14 sec recharge speed for tactical cloak) add the M-77 Paladin I on top of that and you have -98% recharge speed (14.39 sec recharge speed for tactical cloak - not good!).

With the M-92 Mantis X alone, you get +140% recharge speed you then add the M-77 Paladin into the mix and still have +40% power recharge speed - much better than with the Widow III alone - giving your tactical cloak a 5.13 sec recharge speed.

Then when along comes the Phantom (or Phantoms, as the case is when playing gold) miss one? No problem. Cloak (+90% damage, plus the 22.5% from Salarian Operative) -> Energy Drain -> Shoot it with your Paladin, hey presto - a dead Phantom.

TL;DR - I find The Mantis X + the Paladin I much better than just using the Widow III when playing Cerberus (Gold) because the Paladin makes Phantom's less of an issue.

It may seem that the Carnifex is the better choice at level one but at level ten the Paladin is the way to go if you have a steady hand. Putting a damage mod on the carnifex and a ammo mod on the paladin will help balance these weapons out when they are leveled up all the way to ten.

Ah, stinky thread brings back memories. I so loved the Carnifax when I first got it.

All depending on what level you have them at.
Paladin<V = Carnifex X
Paladin X >>>>>> Carnifex X

No, just no. Ugly, requires charge up for decent damage, and headshots don't splode<_<

You don't mind charging up? Take Acolyte. You want ridiculous damage? Take Supressor/Executioner. Want stagger? Take Scorpion. Rapid fire pistol? Eagle says hi. Handcannonsplodingheadfuntimes? Paladin/Carnifex.

Arc Pistol has no niche. It is certainly not UP, nor uneffective. Just so "meh" compared to the other godly pistols.

I was really confused, as I was reading the posts (I was totally fooled by the necro.)

It wasn't that anyone was saying anything particularly shocking or anything, it's just the no one had it "quite right," and there weren't a see of "expert" answers mocking those who didn't have it 100% right.

After reading many responses in a row, I started to suspect it must be an old thread. One year!

Of course, the Carnifex now weighs more, and the Paladin has one fewer shot in the chamber (and, I think, has had a small damage buff, too? Maybe I'm confusing it with a different one...)

I think the weight change did bump the Carnifex a little out of its beautiful niche, but I still use it, as my Paladin is still low-level.

I've only had 1 Paladin upgrade since last summer, so I don't know if I'll ever get to try it as a real comparison.

Sheer and utter nonsense.  It's the best head shot stasis sniper pistol in the game.

By what standards?

Damage output/killing effectiveness? No, Supressor kills much, MUCH faster.

And everyone knows headshots with Carnifex/Paladin (for pistols) are the most fun. You cannot top sploding heads...

Through playing experience. I've tried all of them. The Carnifex and Paladin are unable to one shot kill all critters that can be statised on gold. Same with the much ballyhooed Supressor. Charged Arc Pistol does them all with out having the creature fall out of stasis.
