When you hear someone sing a song, the most important part is the ending. As the old saying goes...
"You're only as good as your last note."
BioWare, Mass Effect was your song, and when it came down to the end note, you completely butchered it.
The gaming community has been in an uproar ever since the ending(s?) for Mass Effect has been leaked, the BSN has been more active in the past week then it has been in the past few months combined. Why you may ask? Was it because the ending was poorly made? Was it because of the promises broken to us? Was it because our emotions were played with? Well yes, a bit of all.
1) The Promises
Dating back til the release days of ME2, we were told that we would have closure to the end of the triology. What we got was the opposite. Closure isn't leaving the fans to imagine what will happen to the rest of our companions we have grown to love as much as pixel love will go. Closure isn't your companions landing somewhere in Jurassic Park while Shephard gets stranded on Earth, then just a black screen. Closure is telling us what happens with an epilogue.
I understand that it is impossible to satisfy every customer and they all want different things. A lot of the community wants to see their Shephard pursuit their love interest after the Reaper's fall. Some want Shephard to go down as a hero. I ask, why not both?
2) Emotions
To the nonhardcore gamers on this forum, they will probably think it is silly to get attached to pixels that aren't even real. And I would agree to some extent. People do take their 'relationships' with their LI's a little too far at times, but it happens. Being a psychology student, we learn that our perspectives of 'real' are completely different then others.
To put it more simply, Commander Shephard, the Mass Effect Universe, and all the companions have affected our lives and more people's lives than 99% of people will. Their legacies will long live ours and will be there after we die, so in a sense, they are more 'real' then us. They are like Santa Claus, he's not real but he has affected more people than any of us will.
So to the people who think it's silly to get this attached to a game, everyone's perspective is different. So shut it.
3) Us Fans
We do need to understand a few things before we rant on about the endings. For one, yes the endings were poorly made because of all the plotholes, lack of closure, and etc. but we must also understand that the ending will not be what we will hope for. Some people want all of their decisions throughout the entire game to help with the last mission, well that is nearly impossible cause of all the factors. We also need to realize that the possibility of a ME4 is unlikely, but still possible. They already have 1,000's of factors to deal with and if they have to deal with ME3's decisions as well, that would be nearly impossible. So the ending will always be like a few main ones, but the ones we were given were awful.
Yeah I pretty much ranted on this whole thing, but if you're too lazy to read all of us. Let's just say that 97% of the forum disapproves of the endings. BioWare should be disgusted, yet somewhat happy that their fans are willing to get on the forums to express how they feel. It shows how much their game has affected them.
Kudos mates.

I really hope for BioWare to act. Fix the endings. Do the impossible for their fans...

Mass Effect didn't even die with a whimper. It died with the sound of vomiting, then a toilet flushing.

I agree too, I would love for BioWare to atleast come up with a few more alternatives to the endings. I think it is a possibility as it is not unheard of that a game gets alternate endings due to DLC.

Funny you should bring that up. I've always been more concerned with the beginning and the majority of the song, but maybe that's just because I like to loop a single track multiple times before moving onto a new one.

Bioware would really set themselves apart from the other money grubbing game producers if they fixed this for us, and I mean REALLY fixed it.

The note that soured the songs of our ancestors. The rachni were warning us.

That's what happens when the idea of something controlling the reaper and the entire civilizations and the introduction of some god-kid along with Granpa-Kid scene is suddenly being force-fed down your throat.
A vomit.

Well if you hear a song, and the last note you hear is god awful, your view on the song will usually change because it is the last thing you heard before it was over. This is why I think of it like Mass Effect, it's like an amazing song up til the last second where it gets F'd up.

Giving closure is a basic story telling element. One which the Bioware seems to have forgotten in the last stages of writing the story. We get closure for other subplots (Miranda and her father; Geth, Quarians, and Rannoch; etc...), but not the main one.
The writers of Bioware need to read this and the subsequent articles.
Of course, there is a difference between a novel and a game, but the overall ideas hold in any story.

That would really be great, but let's be realistic: It's basically impossible. The would have to unite everyone on the team again and spend lots of money for a free DLC. (...considering the plot of ME3, that sounds like a pretty epic move:D)Halo 3 wrote...

I honestly won't not care if the DLC would be free or would cost $10, I honestly don't think $10 is nothing to worry about. It's not that much money.

Even for 10$... It's doubtful.
I bet we completely crushed their plans for the future of ME3 by disliking the ending and expecting them to rework on them.
Recall Joker's silence in previous DLC's?... and that's just one voice-actor...
