The ending of ME3 is horrible.
I believe EA should have let Bioware end the game the way
they wanted to. EA got greeedy an bought our a gaming company that
made excellent games before. KOTR Franchise and Mass Effect. They
wanted Bioware to put down their goose that laid the most golden eggs
just hoping that they could cut out the internal organs and
transplant into other geese and hope the other geese lay more golden
eggs.

They have forgotten that it was the soul of the live
goose that allowed the goose to lay the eggs not the internal organs.
EA effectively doomed their profit margin because they will never be
able to make another franchise that has the following that ME had,
but even if they do come up with a game franchise that is of ME
quality people will not take it as seriously because in the back of
their minds they will always be thinking of when EA will get bored
with its new goose and try to eviscerate the goose to try and
transplant.

Here was my 2 cents.

Pretty sure BioWare wrote the story without EA holding a gun to their head.

Don't let BioWare off the hook and level the blame solely at EA. They're in this together now.

Oh come on. I'm far from an EA fan, but ME3's endings were written by Bioware. It's annoying to see so many people denying Bioware's responsibility regarding this joke of an ending.

They indoctrinated Bioware writers.

That's right. EA wanted Bioware to write the risky ending that not only was certain to ****** the fanbase off, but made it more difficult (but not impossible) for them to continue sucking money off of the series for the next decade. Because EA hates money.

No but they are the parent company. I don't really know how it works but I can guesstimate that anything Bioware does has to go through EA. Not to mention that is where the money goes and comes from. The idea being, if EA says jump, Bioware has to, to some extent. I would guess if EA said jump, Bioware could do a backflip and EA would be fine with it.

Again, this is just a guess, I have no idea what so ever. For all we know, the endings are real and Bioware is just as shocked as we are.

Though I haven't read the original post, so I'm not really sure what he is going on about.

Edit: I've also fed a though in my head where this conversation takes place;

EA: "Mass Effect 4 and 5!"

Bioware: "lolnope"

In any case, you can only wait.

Bioware has said many times that EA doesn't tell them what to do. I'm inclined to believe it. I at least believe that some honcho at EA doesn't just come in and give them nonsensical revisions to their scripts. EA is responsible for funding, marketing, and release dates, and that is about it. I know it's difficult to believe that the people that gave us the other 89 hours and 55 minutes of Mass Effect could give us the last 5 minutes, but it's true.

We honestly don't know what is going on in EA/Bioware. But I feel save enough to say that if a company screws up like this since DA2 there is something wrong. Doesn't need to be within EA or within Bioware or between both or whatever. But something is wrong there. Probalby some sort of infighting.

It's a combination of both developer and publisher in any case like this, but to be sure, it was EA that pushed BioWare down the road that eventually led to what ME2 and ME3 became. How much of that factors into the ending, I have no idea, but I get the distinct impression that had EA not been in charge, the various choices would have played a bigger role in things, if only because BioWare would have had more time to do their thing and less pressure to appeal to mainstream audiences via things like a multiplayer mode.

This was not EA. It was Bioware. The ending was too deep for some of the more, "special" minds from EA. Bioware can't dodge responsibility here.

^ Hells yeah, preach the logic. Lets not jump the gun and blame EA.... BEFORE we have something solid to go on. Once we can prove it or they admit it, then we can start to blame them for it.

All in the signature....

EA corrupted Bioware with it's big fancy penthouse suites and champagne and cigars....

That's why Mass Effect 1 is the best, it was when they had their own true soul. When shepard died the first time, So did a little bit of Bioware, then slowly but steadily they became indoctrinated by their "parent" company to the point of ME3's ending.

Mac Walters was the writer for the last part. Bioware uses diffent writers for different levels. I just wish Drew stuck around to write out the finale.

Both are at fault, but I blame EA more... LOL  I feel this way mostly because EA butchered another game that I really enjoyed. Sims 1 & 2 was great, Sims 3 had some nice features but lacked alot of gameplay depth and complexity that made the Sims 2 awesome.

So yea..  anything EA touches, it turns into a mass market crap.

Apparently he did write the finale but they scrapped it.
