As of right now, there are about 1000 negative scores and 400 positive scores for the PC edition. No bueno.

Every publications gave the game high reviews. Every other sites user community gave the game high reviews. Metacritic got review bombed by trolls who hadn't even had a chance to really play the game an hour after release. Metacritic user scores are garbage.

Regular 4channer here.

This was 4chan's video game board 0-bombing metacritic because they read the spoilers and didn't like the ending, homosexuality or day 1 DLC.

The hate seems to be receding though and many are now starting positive threads about ME3, so the community is split.

I'm looking forward to this game, but based on the above scores it looks like there's a real danger of repeating disappointment, inflated reviews, and cut corners. Is this the case with ME3?

Ending fail. Little things were annoying to me about this, the 3rd game, like how they handled side quests and frame rate issues, but all easily overlooked as the game was solid . . . until the ending.

And ME3 deserves that.  You think BioWare would have learned from the mistakes of DA2, instead they follow in the footsteps of the DA2 team and implement the same practices and designs that everyone abhored.  Haven't played through the entire game, but I can already tell ME3 is a punch in the gut to the dedicated fanbase.  Too many simple minded elements and the side quests are the same ridiculous joke we had to go through in DA2.  Fetching random items you stumble upon and simply returning it to Jim Bob or whoever.  Are you serious BioWare?  Thats an insult and solid proof they've sold out just to "attract a wider audience" and put high sales numbers before the principles that made BioWare one of the most beloved RPG developers in the industry.

This site hasn't given the game high reviews. Go look at the user reviews in the spoiler section. Also, only 3% from a poll of over 16K liked the ending(s).

Go read some of the Metacritic user reviews. They are not all garbage. In fact, I have more questions about the validity ofthe professional reviews given user responses thus far.

^A nice ini mod to unlock the Prothean DLC character for any interested parties. I'd make a thread but they keep getting deleted.

CHECK THE OTHER GAMES ON METACRITIC. No matter how great the game is, people will ALWAYS give it a lower rating.

Did you even read some of these reviews? People are giving it a 0 because the game allows same sex romances. Homophobic?
Others are giving it a 0 because Anderson runs funny. Nit picking?
Others are giving it a 0 because the game added Multiplayer. Seriously?

There are some valid reviews that gave the game a low rating, but most of the reviews are either trolled or hated on.

Sadly, you're gonna feel like you've been kicked in the balls and thrown off a cliff when you reach the last five minutes. At least, the vast majority of those posting on this site feel that way.

I agree there will be plenty of outliers in user reviews. You gotta sift through them. However, why are there no outliers in the professional reviews? It's very curious given the almost universal dislike for the endings on this site.

WOW! A whopping -532 out of 788 reviews!? But when you compare DA2, as a much more successful game because it was only -460 out of 858 totaled..Either way, that's a crappy gauge of success nonetheless..

Yeah, I agree that user reviews are much more honest in comparison..I thought ME3 wouldn't hold up well against ME1-2 but GEEZE, that is just depressing...:pinched:

~Edited to note: That Skyrim scored an 8.1 in the user score..:P BioWare take note, you might want to switch publishers in the future...

No. NO BAD TAKEZO! Metacritic scores are about the least accurate source of reviews on the net.

A. When people give a game like DA2 or ME3 a 0 or 1 (and there are a ton a ton A TON of zeros), that is wrong. It is inaccurate and stupid. Many great games are flooded by people giving them 0's. You can bet that if the people who rated ME3 a zero, actually gave a fair review, the score would be much higher.

B. Many forum boards actually flood metacritic with low scores for the LOLs. These raids are very frequent these days. It's sad.

Never trust metacritic user scores.

Yeah, this is the reason that user reviews are trash. Either go with a reviewer with similiar tastes or just play based on past experiences. So far, I am enjoying the game quite a bit including multiplayer.

You can't really rely on the metacritic user scores for ME3. It was reported that alot of the accounts that scored it a zero where new accounts made by anti-gay groups. That being said as much as I enjoy the game it shouldn't be getting perfect or near perfect scores with the number of glitches, issues, and the s***storm from the endings.

Also, check the date and time of the reviews, many of them came out minutes after the game was released.

Some are even written before the game was released.

A 0 rating is justifiable if the ending makes you NOT want to replay ME1, ME2, or ME3.

I agree, it's a user review it has no obligation to be "fair" only to represent the users feelings.

If someone feels like the game is ruined because of the ending, or because a bug breaks the game that gives them more than enough justification to score it a 0.

Rule of thumb, never trust metacritic when it comes to EA games, blizzard games, or games from other big companies. If it's "the man" behind the game, people tend to rip it just cause they want to stick it to "the man."

For some reason Bethesda seems to be the exception. I don't get why, especially not after their PS3 fiasco.

Fine, read the reviews from today. Personally, I trust users over professional reviewers any day of the week. I always read Amazon customer reviews before I purchase something. And I always make sure I read reviews in the middle of the packs to help get an unbiased review of the positives and negatives.

The people that read the professional reviews are going to buy this game. Period. Is that the correct outcome?

This game's not a 9.0+, neither is it a 3.0-4.0

Overpaid/bribed "professional" critics = 90%+ ratings.

User ratings are low because of things like day 0 DLC and debbie downer endings. That's their problem.

This game's definitely an 8.5 for me, maybe 8.9 at the highest. Dragon Age 2 was a 6.0 for me. ME3 is no Dragon Age 2, it's no masterpiece, but it's a great game and a worthy finale to Mass Effect series.

It deserves 4 ~ 9 based on your attitude and your focus. If you focus on Graphic and Gameplay on a game that is called RPG you can give it 9 or more, but you betray the genre in this process.
If you focus on RPG aspect of ME3 this game hardly gets a 8. plus ending, milking, inconsistency, bugs and errors it's around 7 ~ 7.5.

The game itself is quite good. It's lacking in a few areas that ME1 or maybe ME2 did better but the real issue is the ending. I would say I'm a huge Mass Effect fan and Mass Effect was definitely my favourite video game series by a long shot, however, the ending killed the love of the series for me. Hate to say it but I honestly can not play Mass Effect anymore after that.

ME3 was awesome. The ending was actually really satisfying to me. Call me weird, but I grew up reading epic sci-fi as a kid and find this to be fitting of the genre.

Everything about the game is polished. And your decisions do matter... to a point. I know why people will say they don't, but you can have a drastically different story depending on your choices. I've beaten it twice: once from a New Game, and once from an ME1/2 Import. The games played out very differently.

All in all, and call me a fanboy, this game was amazing in almost every way. Oh, and the music score was brilliant too.

The ending reminded me a lot of (WARNING MIGHT BE SPOILERISH!)

End of Evangelion. I saw it when I was a lot younger, and when the world ended at the end of that anime/movie, it involved a lot of technological and political stuff. It wasn't exactly clear what happened, all you knew was the world ended and you were left wondering what would happen next. Yet the whole thing still concluded in a way that it had absolute closure. That's what I saw at the end of ME3. I wonder if BioWare watched End of Evangelion before making ME3?

At any rate, I think ME3 was a great game tho.

Most people liked the game. Most people didn't like the ending. You can see it in the reviews on this site and every other site.

I actually didn't even read any reviews about Mass Effect 3. I pre-ordered it based on BioWare's track record. I'm sure a lot of you guys did too. However, for the first time in ten years (or maybe even fifteen years) I will change my behavior for the next game.

By the way, what is the best site for user reviews? Because people here and on MetaCritic don't like the ending.

haven't finished the game yet, but so far its the best game I played this year, hands down. its a show im for GOTY. metacritic isn't very reliable, there's alot of trolling, with people people rating games zero out of frivilous reasons. Just check the MW3 ordeal, IGN made a very amusing music video about this issue, highly recomended.

the article: http://games.ign.com.../1212865p1.html
the video: http://www.ign.com/v...-warfare-3-song
(I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this links)

In a nutshell, I imagine alot of the reviews are something like this:
"hate EA"- zero
"hate bioware" -zero
"hate mass effect" -zero
"mass effect is just a shooter, not RPG" -zero
"mass effect doesn't have enough shooting" -zero
"hate day 1 dlc" -zero
"love the witcher 2!" -zero
"hate the ending" -zero
"the multiplayer sucks" -zero
And ofcourse: "never played it, but I heard it sucks"

you get the idea...
Before i'll take metacritic seriously, they have to start screening their trols, starting with deleting any review that contain the sentence: "never actually played the game"...

So you can choose to go by the opinions of the internet trolls, or by the opinions of professional reviewers WHO ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME.
