Quite basically, ME3 needed 2 more alternatives (at the least). Shepard should have been able to deny all three options and 'break' the cycle with their own solution or fail just short of the goal by being thwarted by the Illusive Man, since Harbinger failed at killing Shepard a second time. (That Reaper has the worst lucky, doesn't it)
As I stated before, I supported the original 3 endings, but I made the small modifications I did because they weren't very clean and they needed a little extra tagged to each end.
