Why the hell is ME3's ending is hurting my experience for ANOTHER GAME

Ok why the F is this happening?

I happen to play SW:TOR and many of my fellow guild members are also Mass Effect fans. Ever since ME3 arrived we've had more and more people unsuscribing because they are angry at BIOWARE. Not at SW:TOR. Is the anger towards one game enough to make some people crazy enough to stop playing another, just because both games are made by the same company?

This rage quitting is ridiculous. I hate the ME3 endings myself, but I'd still judge TOR on its own terms. Its getting harder for us to do stuff and conduct group raids/missions now, and is it me or is the SW;TOR population actually DECLINING?

Hopefully the rage will die down and they'll be back...

Ya that sounds right, except I think ToR is pretty crappy too.

That is pretty silly. They weren't even made by the same part of Bioware. And honestly, while I'm not thrilled about the endings, I'm certainly not mad enough to do something stupid like that. Boycott Mass Effect DLC or future Mass Effect games if you must, but completely different games? That's just dumb.

I cancelled my subscription to TOR over it and have no problem admitting it. They took ME writers and moved them over to TORs team, they'll probably do something similarly retarded to TOR soon enough so I quit while I'm a head.

Yes.. I was that upset about it.

This is simply a result of Bioware violating the writer-reader contract. If the creator of a work of fiction fails to provide closure for one of its works, if it fails to follow the path it set along the way, why should the reader trust the writer to do it "right" elsewhere? Obviously closure isn't expected in an MMO, but Bioware made the mistake of tying novel-like plot so closely to both SWTOR AND Mass Effect's TRILOGY.

This isn't limited to just SWTOR and Mass Effect 3. The fact that Bioware took a dump on the contract in the last 10 minutes of Mass Effect 3 doesn't just break the end of Mass Effect 3, it cheapens the story of Mass Effect 3 and the plot of the entire trilogy. The foundation of Mass Effect -- the audience's willingness to suspend disbelief while Bioware tells us a story, is broken.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you should be blaming EA/Bioware, not the players. If EA/Bioware made an ending so terrible for a game that users are quiting another game over it, then you know they've royally screwed up.

Of course it could just be normal MMO churn. After all, every MMO player eventually reaches a point where they say "screw it" and quit. The trigger can be almost anything. A patch, a fight, hating another game by the same developer.

As far as them coming back, well there's other MMO's launching this year so don't expect them all to come back real soon.

Violation of trust isnt a terrible reason to quit. I know I personally am wary of investing time and emotion into a bioware project at this point seeing as how it went this time. Even if this game is fun now I can see why people wouldnt trust it will stay that way.

10 minutes after posting this topic, a former guildie has returned after he decided to 'drown his sorrows on multiplayer'.

And another cancelled after being banned for verbally abusing a Bioware/ME3 developer on Ilum chat. Banned surprisingly quickly may I add.

Good gawd.

The ME3 ending rage is spreading to SW:TOR's chat. This is hilarious.

If bioware can drop the ball so carelessly with the ending of the most anticipated and arguebly the best game of the decade - I find it easy to asume that they will completely screw up an MMORPG.

So yea if I played I would most definitely unsubscribe.

So is ToR still overflowing with rage over ME3, or did it finally die down?
