Either Vanguards are to powerful, or too weak and prone to rescue.
A strong vanguard I like, if the foe goes down quick I don't care by whom.
Weak ones that still have the syndrome of lone ranger are bad, either they must learn or quit.. Preferably not mid game, leaving the team a player down.
Just tried the Asari vanguard, must say no faults there.
Stick back use stasis for the team, knock out hard hitters, use heavy pistol.
When the fighting kicks off go martial biotic and blitz cqc.
The only times I've needed reviving so far are when completely flanked by waves during objectives.
First time a revive occurred it was me helping out.
As for objectives, sometimes players take the direct route... and get killed.
If taking on infinite waves best not head directly for it. If your team is bottle necked trying to reach it, the best course of action is to stay up and get the objectives quickly and safely.
Plus it then allows you to draw aggro, reset the spawn points and help out from a better position.
Stupid thing is getting kicked from a multiplayer just because you play as a vanguard once.
I can understand if bad, or great, but not joining up and getting booted for no other reason than class at menu.
If a player can't experiment and see what tricks they can pick up, it's a major waste.

Yah, I haven't read the thread, just the title but no, vanguards, no you really don't... you steal my kills after I energy drain them and get them down to no health, you knock around my carefully scoped sniper victim, and you're noisey... also you die and intead of waiting for me to save you with my tactical cloak you use a medigel... in round one and get mad when I won't kiss a banshee ass to save you in round six. You also take your heavy hitter self to do the mission stuff while the engineers/infiltrators cover you, instead of letting the people with drones, tactical cloak and decoys are made to do mission stuff do it without fear of being shot at while give them the minor cover they may need. Why does no one bother to look at what their teams tactics are and battle accordingly? why?!

Ha, I communicate, and after the fourth time saying "Hey let the engineer turn that Turret on to our team and then still stay out of its sight..." Flash Vanguard is thrashing our friendly turret.

I played a match earlier today where it was me(Salarian Infiltrator) and 3 Vanguards.
I'm amazed that I was able to actually hit anything.
I play the vanguard most of the time along with the infiltrator class whenever I feel like using a sniper rifle. I can get where people are coming from with the everything shaking thing

As an Human Engineer... I can at least get off Overload (triple chain on my human female) while the Vanguard's are charging. XD
Just played a game with 2 Vanguards and a Sentinel... pretty much just spammed Overload and my Combat Drone the whole time. I don't think I actually managed to shoot a single enemy...
I tend to do that with Engineers as well. Drones to the rear and then keep shocking them and... oh I can shoot too!

That's what warping away mashing the space bar is for.. if I ever get it right and not hug cover at stupid times.
The really heavy AoE melee is to hammer home the direct attack and push back foes.
Plus 200% cool down and the stasis perk allows for a chance to use two powers no cool down.
So Bubble.. charge.. Melee AoE damage, repeat charge.
It's all how you try and play, instant charge = chance of death no matter the shields.
However I'll say again, I'm seeing just as many sensible Vanguards as non these days.
Seems like support the team and getting to objectives has sunk in.. Other characters seem to be losing that directive though at times.
It's like science fiction, see Vanguard, compete with vanguard for kills ignore other stuff.
Vanguard secures objective first, sticks close, charges threats only, gets to LZ.. still ranks first.

Hint: If I'm close to you, and I'm using nova or shockwave, you just might want to unscope and look around. Nine times out of ten that cirumstance happens it's because somebody packing a precision weapon completely failed in the situational awareness department and is mortally close to getting their ass gnawed, chopped, stabbed and/or shot off.

If it's one weapon: Sniper rifle.. I know at some point whatever character I'm playing is going to be fighting a large group swarming. Wishing someone with a pistol or AR would shoot the gits and provide enough support so I can run away and regroup.

So many good Vanguard players in my games... and I'm so terrible with them.![]()
As a human vanguard I actually love when the other classes set up tech/biotic combos and I try to charge toward targets affected by those powers that can detonate.
So don't worry, we love you too

It's called Lift Shockwave with full reach and extra lenght. My Human Female Vanguard has it built on her for higher difficulties, and it's VERY useful.
Stick with a heavy pistol and use it as a support function. Fairly spammable, sets up Biotic Explosions, detonates biotic explosions from other players' abilities. Forces enemies hit to stagger and take continual damage.
It is the best ability to hold specific areas such as hack or activate/deactivate targets as well as good for extraction when you're dealing with multiple targets. Bypasses walls and cover.
Charge-Nova hogs are not as powerful in Gold, but this abilitiy keeps you in the game.
