ok so I keep seeing that the writers dropped some dark energy sub plot that was supposed to explain why the reapers harvested every 50k years. Anyone want to further explain?
what were the reapers original motivations?

They were trying to stop dark energy by creating reapers to combat the problem.
reapers were suppose to use the genetic diversity to stop the problem blah blah blah.
thats all we know. im sure if it was canon they would have explained it in a way that made sense.
