And I was pretty happy with the Origin integration of DLC (for PC, and I'm not an Origin fan btw) so I was overall fairly upbeat about the potential of more Mass Effect after ME3.
We all know how the endings go (and those that don't will find out soon enough) and we all agree they're horrible endings.
Some are calling for retcons, I'm not.
I am simply saying, vote with your wallet. Buy no further DLC for this game.
BioWare made their choice with how to end this series, don't encourage their decision by being lemmings and immediately throwing 10 dollars at anything they produce that has the brand name on it.
They chose this end. We don't need new endings. We must simply show them that we unequivocally consider their ending to be "the end" and not support any further content that is introduced to the franchise.
Stop playing multiplayer. Remove Mass Effect from your "Likes" on Facebook, do whatever you like. But vote with your wallet, BioWare chose the end of Mass Effect. Let them know that it is definitely the end.
My respect to all BioWare developers and employees. Lets try to keep this thread civil.
EDIT FOR RECENT EVENTS:
Well Casey Hudson has responded to the contreversy about the end of ME3
This is now the only effective method of responsible, adult disagreement with their choices.
Its time to chose. Will you continue to buy ME related development? Or will you close your wallet now that its said and done?
I've closed my wallet. I will respect the fact that others may feel they can support future development, and I'm not, in any way, insulting anyone that does.
UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO DR. RAY:
As an update, with Dr. Ray's stance given today, I can respect BioWare's stance that they feel that the artistic integrity of the story should stand on how its been written, and that their response to our concerns will be addressed in new content initiatives.
That is all fine and wonderful. But, given as you have expressed your right as an artist to defend your work, I am expressing my right as a customer to no longer patronize your work as I disagree with it entirely.
Until you admit that nothing you did in Mass Effect has any meaning beyond the Shep/TIM/Anderson scene on the Citadel just previous to the Catalyst ending, I am not interested in paying you 10 - 20 dollars a pop simply to try to make that ending more acceptable.
I retain the right to refuse to buy questionable products from a company that has abused my trust more than once.
Before I wrap this up, let me just say that I've given BioWare a lot of rope in regards to how far I'd let them go over the years. From DA2, to TOR being a complete WoW clone regardless of every bit of beta feedback that most beta testers gave indicating that being a WoW clone made the game less fun, and now the Mass Effect franchise being effectively destroyed by a ten minute ending that is not artistic in any way, but is simply a dialog wheel turned on its side and made into a physical "level" for the player to literally interact their "choice" in...in of which all choices are horrible and none of them have anything to do with who your Shepard really was, or how much military strength you had in the final conflict.
You may defend the artistic integrity of your product, it is your right, I will defend my bank account, which is my right. And any DLC from you that is targetted to attempt to smooth out the wrinkles the end of this game left in your fan base is going to cost money...and I'm afraid to say, I'm not buying.
Your company has abused my trust too many times in the last half decade or so for me to consider your statements sincere, or that your solutions to the issues your customer base has with this ending won't come without an additional price tag. And I'm sorry I already paid you an immense amount of money for several copies of ME3, getting fished in quite nicely for all your pre-release pre-order benefits and what not..all of which are worthless now.
If you think you're getting another dollar from me simply so I can "understand" your "artistic vision", you must think I'm blind and stupid.
I highly suggest that other fans of this company and this franchise make an assessment of their own willingness to trust BioWare with yet more of their money, simply so you can "understand" their "artistic vision".
