Just started the Racni mission with Jarvic and as soon as Grunt finishes talking about the racni, Jarvic comes out and says something like: "The racni were also formidable adversaries in our cycle"

Now this is a jaw dropping revelation. The racni are an extremely evolved organic species et they survived the cycle?
How did they manage that...so many questions...no answers, no depth, so many inconsistencies...

Any ideas?

Honestly in ME3 there are so many things that are taken so lightly and not discussed that it pretty much seems the Devs were really lazy...or overfocused on the thing we didn't really need...the MP. Apparently the SP and a good portion of the game was sacrificied for the MP...as many people feared.
