Ugh... what's more embarassing?  That I spent hundreds of hours playing a series that was utlimately rendered pointless by the endgame destroying everything I was trying to save, OR that I'm crying like I lost my best friend over a freaking video game?

Finished my game 12 hours ago, was suprised at the odd, off-putting, confusing ending as I had played slowly and carefully to try and obtain an optimal ending.  But then, I got half my squad killed my first ME2 playthrough, so through my tears of frustration and disappointment, I tried again picking door #2 - ack, even worse!, then with increasing despair tried the door #3 after which I just sat there stunned.

Took about an hour to do all the endgames, or one box of kleenex if you care to count that way.  But yes, that was really how it was going to end.

Just the night before I had proclaimed to my hubby that ME3 was the greatest game ever... blabbing on and on about all the little things that had been done so well, never dreaming that this god-awful end was in store for me.  AND I CAN"T FIX IT!  Can't unring that bell.  My whole ME universe, GONE.  Why did I even play.

So I came to the forum, and can at least take solace in not being alone.  Thanks to all the gamers here who help me think I might not be completely freakin' insane.  I've read no few than 50 alternate endings, all of which were better than what were got.

Heck, I would've been more satisfied if Shep had unleased her space hamster on the Catalyst at the end, all the while shouting "Go for the eyes, Boo!  Go for the eyes!"

Maybe tomorrow I can contemplate ever playing any game again (I know I can't go back to ME 1, 2 or 3)... but right now anything with a plot deeper than Angry Birds leaves me wary and suspicious.

Those that finished earlier... does it get better??Image IPB

No, there is nothing to make it better, i really understand how you feel and hope i could help, but i cant.

The end reminded me of the replicant last words in Blade Runner when I realized that the galactic civilization was destroyed with the relays.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. ... All this will be lost in time. Like tears in the rain."

I believe that was what I was feeling.

That.... is an apt quote. O.o

Blade Runner at least fit it's narrative arc, we were playing the Odessy but they threw Achilles in at the end for some strange reason instead of continuing the story to it's natural conclusion with Odysseus.

11 days. denial, followed by rage, followed by even more denial. Then you think you've found your inner calm, and Bioware releases some stupid **** PR statement. The cycle cannot be broken.

What if all this is just some giant April fools day prank. I can see it now they'll even get Ashton Kutcher to announce it was all a lie 8 years in the making... DLC ending comes out Tuesday April 3rd.

Funny, because Blade Runner exists in at least seven versions............some with different endings!

I cover the pain with as many alternative endings as possible. I hope eventually I'll read enough that I'll forget which one was real.

If you choose "control" ending, this happens:

Ok, that graphic is awesome... especially the cosmic scale umbrella drink complete with emergency induction port.

Thanks for the laugh!

Yes and by the way the version with Deckard finding the origami next to his door when fleeing with Rachel was imo the best. When it does make sense (unlike ME3) an ending that's not happy can be a good one.

Not going to lie, I'm feeling very M. Night Shyamalan'd. I proclaimed the ME franchise to be my favorite games/franchise in my 2 decades of playing games, despite whatever mistakes Bioware has seemed to make. That ending was completely inexcusable though...I'll still be playing out of my love for Mass Effect, but it truly isn't the same game that I had imagined back in 2007...

Three stages of emotion after completing Mass Effect 3:

1. Confusion
2. Deep depression :crying:
3. Massive amounts of anger :pinched:

Welcome to the club ;)

When I finished the game I lied on the floor crying for 20 minutes.

Reading about the crappy endings has made it better, but I still have a really empty and sad feeling all the time. Mass Effect trilogy has been the most moving entertainment experience ever for me.

Manly tears...

We were all there once. While the pain won't go away, it may fade a bit. or it did for me, as I came to the forums to help work to change it.

It's pathetic but neccessary. Four days, four god damn FRAKKING days of keeping a razor sharp eye on these forums, looking for something, anything that sounds like an acknowledgement of 'Oops, our bad' from Bioware.

My stomach has been a solid knot for that entire time and I really think this virus that has knocked me flat for the last eight hours is because the depression weakened by immune system (It's a hypothesis at any rate)

The hardest part though is there is NO ONE I can talk to about this. I don't know anyone personally who's played it and loved it and become enveloped by it. Sure, you're all a swell bunch, no really, but you know, actual physical contact based camaraderie would be most welcome. So. No. It doesn't get better.

Use it to fuel your commitment then to having it MADE better for you.
