I'm standing at the corpse of the Reaper with Legion and Tali... and I refuse to believe there's no chance to save them! I can't do it!

The Geth don't deserve to die. They only wanted to defend themselves. But I know if I do this... Tali Zorahh suicides. And I can't possibly let that happen to her. <3

But if I side with Tali... I kill the Geth! They're life, like anything else, TELL ME I CAN SAVE THEM

High enough Reputation, and you can use the Paragon option to tell the quarians to cease fire

You can. You have to have a high enough Military Effectiveness and you also have to have rescued the Admiral that crash landed on Rannoch as well as the other Rannoch side mission before doing the main one that has you fight the Reaper. Plus high enough reputation to get the Paragon/Renegade option.

As far as i know, under these parameters, you should be able to talk down Admiral Galeen with Tali's support to keep them from obliterating the geth when the upload completes.

Well you can save them now then kill them all at the end but To save them now you need to have made the right choices in ME2

So it's not possible if Tali died? I didn't even like her... I just want to have the Quarian fleet :/

if you have a high enough reputation you can rally the fleet, OR do the renegade option which is way cooler. you basically yell at the quarians for being stupid and make them back off "I will watch as your entire race gets destroyed by the geth"

IMO the quarians deserve destruction for being the most aggresive race. The krogan never tried to destroy an entire species, (only when the salarians uplifted them for the purpose of destroying rachni) the quarians on the other hand stated the original war with the geth, and started this war with the geth when they knew the reapers were coming.
if I wasn't so worried about ending the reaper threat, I woould have  gladly watched the quarians being destroyed

Pretty sure you need Tali and Legion to make this work, their relationship is critical to an alliance.

If Tali died, peace is impossible.

High enough reputation, let legion upload, tell the fleet to back off.

You need more paragon points to pick rally the fleet option, to keep Tali alive. Legion dies while uploading the code, but the Quarians and Geth do become allies, you can't save Legion if you want peace.

You actually need a few elements, first of all you have helped Tali in ME2, so she can be an admiral in this one, otherwise she lacks the power to command the fleet. Also, you have to support legion's upload, and then rally the fleet, so they stop their attack on the Geth, after the upload is complete. If you dont have Tali and Legion's support due to whatever reason, it is impossible to do.

I also seems like you need to have Admiral Korris' support. So he needs to not be dead.

-Keep Tali alive through ME2
-Kill heretics during Legion's loyalty mission in ME2
-Keep Legion alive during ME2
-Complete all side missions on Rannoch before doing the Destroy Reaper Base mission
-Save Admiral Koris during the Rannoch: Admiral Koris mission
-Don't let Tali become an exile
-Choose Paragon option as Legion uploads Reaper upgrades.

I believe you need him if you rewrote the Heretics, but not if you destroyed them in ME2.

You can still achieve peace if you rewrote the Heretics.

Just confirming that rewriting the heratics is no problem.

I don't know which of the following mattered and which didn't, but here's the "checklist" I used, and got them both as allies on the first try:

1. Didn't even go near the Quarians until I had a full reputation bar that was so white, I could have used it for a nightlight.

2. Talked to Tali on the Normandy, both in the "war room" and privately in the captain's cabin. (Not my LI). Reassured her she was a worthy leader in her own right and told her to stop thinking of herself as a "junior" or "honorary" admiral.

3. Saved Adm. Koriss. The "suit-wetting Geth apologist," as he was characterized in ME2, proved himself once the shooting started. He clearly could speak with more authority to the other admirals now that he was a bleeding hero. And he was a guaranateed vote for peace.

4. Sided with Admiral Raan(sp?) in the war room in a dispute she had with Admiral Xen and another with Garrel (sp?) about whether the Battle Fleet should pull back. (NOT the earlier argument about complete withdrawl.)

Raan's clearly the swing vote on the Admiralty board. She ALWAYS goes in the direction of the prevailing wind. Did in ME2 and does it here. Garrel's got the war bit between his teeth and Xen doesn't see the Geth as equals you can negotiate with. Koriss is the only solid "peace" vote and Tali clearly puts her faith in Shep. Tali has her misgivings about the Geth but if Shep wants peace and believes it will work, Tali will vote for it. Therefore, Raan is the key vote.

On a related note: After the "Tron" mission (Entering the geth conciousness) and looking at all the cutscenes to get the other side of the history of the Geth/Quarian conflict, Shep talked to Raan again in the War Room on the Normady about those scenes. Raan replied that the Quarians had clearly chosen to be selective in recording their history.

5. Shep even told Adm. Garrell he did the right thing firing on the dreadnought. No need to antagonize the old guy until the final vote..

One of my friends is having a problem saving both. Does it matter if Tali was exiled in ME2 or not?

Red option also works.

Pretty sure Tali needs to be an Admiral for her, Shepard and the Civilian Fleet Admiral to talk down the Heavy Fleet Admiral and save the Quarians from extinction.

Yes it does. You can't do it if Tali was exiled.

I destroyed the Geth heretics and red option worked. Maybe it won't work if you rewrote the heretics? I don't know...
