HOWEVER, this is a video game we're talking about. The format changes the impact that these endings have on us entirely. We worked so hard doing every little thing, trying to get every asset, talking to everyone who mattered to us, making all those choices thinking that it was going to make a difference, when it all essentially lead up to the same point.
Shepard's story was so intensely personal to me... and having invested so much in it only to have it end the way it did was a bit of a blow. Why did I spend so much time doing all those side missions if it didn't matter? What about my relationships with all my squadmates? It all got tossed aside. There just wasn't enough closure for all that effort. The ending destroyed all the replay value for me.
My point is, the way the endings were handled were not appropriate for this kind of video game format. Even for people who can appreciate the endings... I imagine most of us don't really want to pick it back up ever again. While I understood why, I'm resentful and disinclined to have anything to do with this series since I finished the game. Does anyone else share my thoughts?
