Most of us don't like it, but why would they do this?
After investing so much of our time and money, but most of all hearts and souls into these characters only to have them shove it back in our faces..... I can see what they were trying to do with the "pull on the heartstrings" idea, but this goes way beyond that. And you could even see it in parts that they were forcing it, in regards to Legion. He didn't have to die, that specific unit maybe, but not the platforms that make up Legion, that is.
This is worse than the Matrix, Worse than LOST.
I don't think ive ever seen a more horrible ending... And it had to be my favourite thing didn't it?
So any ideas why they would commit such an act?
I suspect that the writing team met Charlie Sheen through Martin Sheens work as TIM, the rest is history. Resistance is futile.
Why oh why!?

I completely agree except for the Legion part.
His death was epic.

Someone was trying to be deep and insightful. But I'm not quite sure why or what about.

If that's true, then it was a collossal failure in every way possible - and perhaps even in some ways that were previously thought impossible.
Give us a real ending, Bioware. An indoctrination-induced hallucination won't cut it.

I did feel that Legion's death was something of a non sequitur, mostly due to the listed reason feeling a little hollow. HOWEVER, it was still handled fairly well.

Well, I'm sure if Charlie Sheen had been involved, the ending would have been quite different. Picture it:
Star child thing give Shepard his three options.
Shepard: Screw you! I'm doing this my own way!
Star child: This is the only way.
Shepard: You're just a troll. A droopy eyed, armless, child. I've got tiger blood!
Shepard turns the Citadel into a giant spinning death machine and uses it to kill all the Reapers.
^That is how the story would have turned out with Charlie at the helm.

You know what, with maybe a few tweaks to the language, I would accept that as an ending. Except if Charlie Sheen was in charge, Shep would do it while doped up on enough Red Sand to kill two and a half men (badum tish?)
