I really don't care if it was cliche.

It would have been a million times more fitting and Bioware didn't have to butcher the reapers like they did.

I would wholeheartedly agree. Even if it is a bit of a MacGuffin, it would still fill out because of the explanation that countless civilizations worked on it and most of the game was spent finding resources to build the damn thing. Seeing giant lasers start to bisect Reapers like madmen would be a satisfying ending, coupled with an epilogue and such.

Just my two cents, here.

Any ending would have been better than what we got. Honestly, I have yet to think of or read a worse ending. You got to hand it to the writers at Bioware- maybe they thought "Hey there is no way we can please everyone so lets just make everyone really mad/sad/depressed, by making all your choices meaningless!" The funny thing is rather than fire that person they said "You are right!, lets go with that ending!"

that ending would only be a better ending because we know what the real ones are. If that was what we got, the BSN would have been mad about the cliche ending, instead of the dues ex god child and our three doors.

Lets face it.. It's not art.. or very deep. .But the story of someone bringing together "The Force of the entire Galaxy down on them" and just have a flat out slug fest (with some ground action like they show in EVERY DAMN Trailer) Would have been simply awesome.

We don't get to drive the Mako, or the Flying thing.. We don't even see the Flying tank in the game at all. They could have turned the taking back of earth into an entirely different chapter.. The reapers are gone but their programmed slaves remain. We must now take them out... Reclaim the planets..

ANYTHING..

Bioware. Go watch Babylon 5... /smack

I was willing to roll with the miraculous big gun saves the day ending even if it was "stupid". I did not expect to get kicked in the groin, my head slammed against a wall and spit on by the developers.

Someone at Bioware get really nostalgic and have the brillant idea we want to play Simon in the end of Mass Effect ...

When the platform took Shepard up, I was expecting to have to sacrifice myself to power the gun in order to destroy the reapers. Instead, we got Deus Ex endings.

Vent-kid: I am the supreme existence, my reason is absolutely perfect. You shall accept my ultimate truth. Now I shall grant you a chance to pick one of the three flavours of doom.

Shepard: ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL. punchs the vent-kid in the face and shoots him some more. *takes over the control panel* *puts sunglasses on* Now we go and kick some reaper's ass.

That's EXACTLY what I was expecting it to be - and I was fine with it. A plot device for killing the Reapers had to come in from somewhere, because they clearly weren't going to go down through martial might alone.

I was also expecting to confront TIM in person at the Cerberus HQ, but he ended up getting tied into that retarded Catalyst garbage (which is all hopefully just part of a hallucination).

Really lame way to go out - I truly hope it's not over yet.

Trying so hard to not be cliche has become the new cliche. A big space gun would have been so much better than my Shepard believing some Catalyst-Reaper-Space-God-Child. The end just felt like one big indoctrination attempt that I couldn't break free of :(.

hahahaha

I personally like big guns.  I was praying at the end just be a big gun, then bioware stabbed me in the heart.

I actually expected to slump down with Anderson and the gun would fire as predicted, and then my ending would play out depending on Paragon/Renegade and choices from all ME games.

Nope. They had to go with, "The gun was about to fire... WHEN SUDDENLY..."

I expected a Kill Switch or Override to disable the Reapers or their defenses or their technology in a general sense. Allowing your forces to destroy them. If the Crucible had destroyed the Reapers at the cost of the relays that would have been fine with me too.

That would have been cool.  Perhaps that one cycle used it, but without the catalyst it was only powerful enough to take out one Reaper before it shut down?

I'm sure we all knew that teh Crucible wouldn't be a mega Reaper death ray since that would be too "obvious" but still, it's sad  to think that the most cliche thing possible would have probably at least made more sense.

I was fully expecting "direct miliary victory" based on a simple pass/fail check of your war assets to be the default Action Mode ending.

The worst "WHEN SUDDENLY" in the history of gaming and popular science fiction.

Instead of shooting lasers I would rather the Crucible have a different effect ... you could shut down mass effect cores from a distance [I.E. you could target the effect]. Once the Reaper cores are shut down you simply shoot the Reaper like they did with Soverign and everything's good.
