So Shepard is more familiar with it.

And wouldn't it make sense for the Reapers to come in and destroy all synthetic life instead? That would ensure organics are all safe from complete annihilation.

I think it's easier to toss the Star Child in there if it's something the player and Shepard have an emotional connection with than just to have some glowing pillar of light.

I just hate how their solution to the mystery of why the Reapers were there just created more mass confusion.

wouldn't shep be more familiar with his/her LI instead of the random kid (s)he saw for like ten seconds?
