I wondered why people needed a reason for the Reapers destroying everything. The Reapers said themselves its beyond our understanding...

That being said, I had the thought that maybe the Reapers were doing this because that was the only way they knew how to reproduce as an organic/synthetic species. Basicly they "give birth" every 50,000 years and to them "giving birth" requires a TON of organic material that dispite them being super smart they simply cannot create for themselves. In this way the Reapers were not evil, they were simply trying to survive.

That is a better reason than Bioware gave us and honestly I was fine with no reason at all- all my Shepard needed to know was who needed killing and in which direction to Biotic charge.

So at some point some organic race made the reapers. The reapers rebelled and killed their masters turning them into more reapers im asuming.

They then decided that they would leave the galaxy and come back every 50000 years in order to kill all organic spacefaring civilisations so they wouldnt develop synthetics in case the synthetics decided to kill all organic life.

Those reapers are dumb.
